Help me find a courier that wil ship my bass!
Maude replied to attackbass's topic in General Discussion
If you use Eurosender (in the link I added earlier) then package size doesn't matter, it's properly insured and there's a Basschat discount. Seems like a no brainer to me. -
"Have you bought any food onto the premises?" "Erm, no?"

Just do the weekly shop on the way to the gig.

Help me find a courier that wil ship my bass!

Have a quick read through this thread. Courier and discount code gets a mention in the second or third post but there's also some good advice about packing and labelling. -

There's a courier that gives a Basschat discount and properly insures instrument, rather than just taking your money but neglecting to tell you they don't insure instruments. I'll have a quick look and see if I can find them. -
I've had a bit more of a think about this, yes I know it's not usually advisable but it happens sometimes when I'm not paying attention, anyway I've come to the conclusion that there's not any basses I find boring, it's the music I perceive someone will use it for boring. I know it's judgemental but hey, whadya gonna do? In real life as long as it sounds good I wouldn't care what bass someone uses but with the privilege of being able to sit here and just look at different basses with no context, I subconsciously link them to certain styles of music, which is wrong, but again, whadya gonna do? 🙂 For instance, being in a Mod band image is everything, and there are certain basses which suit the image. We organised a multi band charity jobby back in March and a ska band called Ratrace played, and rather excellent they were too, but the bass player was using a Steinberger or Hohner cricket bat type bass, which I wouldn't have visualised a ska band using, but it was one of the best sounding basses I've ever heard, it sat perfectly in what they were doing.

I like your style Mr. Biggs.

Go faster stripes on your bass

I do quite like the look, if it were better executed. To be fair he was trying to repair a problem rather just thinking this'll look cool, he just ran out of f**ks half way through. -
@Ricky 4000 Not wishing to derail this thread but I had an Amazon when I was younger and that picture isn't far off what it looked like. I worked in a Volvo garage and wanted to annoy all the fuddy duddy owners so roof chopped it, de-chromed and dropped it on the deck. The only real difference was I had American spec towel rail bumpers, wheels the same as the A Team van and it was painted surf green. It was a two door 123s and I only found out years later that it was a very rare model with the same twin carb engine as the P1800s (The Saint car). It had well over 100bhp as standard which was prenty good for a standard 60s car. Sorry, back to boring basses.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Maude replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
I found Scott Whitley's site has some interesting information on it, especially the page on string choice. https://www.shortscalebass.co.uk/ 😁 -
JJ Burnell and Bruce Foxton made quite an inspiring racket. 🙂

Fancy natural wood basses. I really love some of the woods involved and used for furniture I could really enjoy it. But I've yet to see a fancy natural wood bass and felt inspired to play it, I just see them and think meh. I think maybe they appear too polite to me when I like a bit of attitude. My first thought when I see one is that the owner's going to try and put me in a fusion coma with it.

A dented brass neck now by the sound of it. And this is a record, I know, no help at all, but I do think you're right in just ignoring her, some people will try anything on. 🙂

I'm in a little village on the edge of Bodmin Moor, the closest place anyone's heard of is Liskeard. Both bands have members split between Liskeard and Plymouth.

Tell him we'll organise a Basschat festival, a weekend of basschatters bands. We'll call it 'Chatfest'. 😁

I rub Lurpak into the fretboards of my basses. They play like butter. 🙄

In general the north of Devon and Cornwall is less populated than the south so gigs will be fewer and further in between. The further west you go in Cornwall the less it matters as the north and south coasts are so close. Plymouth, Truro, Exeter, etc are busy-ish as gigs go. We've found that the smaller more rural areas appreciate live music much more and even though the audience might be smaller than in the bigger towns and cities, they tend to be there for the music rather than just out on the lash and there happens to be a band on. Neither of our bands are just standard pub rock and we've been doing alright, the Mod/Northern Soul/Ska band more than alright really. There's plenty of smaller festivals as well. You will definitely need a big car and a willingness to travel though.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to be a scam, but it also makes no sense if he's legit. I don't know.

There's definitely something strange about him. He's got fourteen active listings with between three and nine days left to go on them and not one bid on anything. I know that's not out of the question but it seems odd, coupled with the same item selling multiple times, getting good feedback but being relisted again makes me think he's at best, just a bit thick but probably best avoided, at worst, a scamming knob'ead and probably best avoided.

Parker and Bailey lemon oil. TK Maxx had for six or seven quid a while ago but the cheapest I can find now is here. https://www.btnmusic.co.uk/product/parker-bailey-guitar-lemon-oil/?gclid=CjwKCAjw_qb3BRAVEiwAvwq6VjpOCysZObYACkU6GXyD3Gn7GQhXFxsIAzUQozO9-sfYf3fP7akJCxoCfDoQAvD_BwE It's a big bottle and you'll likely never need to buy another. Edit : just noticed that it's out of stock and there's delivery on top, but have a look on ebay or amazon for it.

P 90 pickups for Epiphone LP rebuild (Caution: guitar content)
Maude replied to leftybassman392's topic in General Discussion
Glad you're liking your 'new improved' LP. Thank you for this thread as it's spurred me finally dig out my old Epiphone SG, well I will tomorrow. I've been thinking about refinishing it and generally sorting it out as I've finished quite a few stalled projects with my time off. It's got a pair of 70s Mighty Mite humbuckers which from hazy memory and googling are either 1300s or 1400s, or one of each, which look like they're quite sought after. Quite keen to check now we have the internet. 👍 -

Ahh, wearing wigs and pretending to play guitar. Some things never change. 😁 -
My Hofner Ignition Club bass. Absolutely brilliant basses for very little money. Custom made pickguard and control plate, with bakelite knobs and LaBella flats. Thumptastic 🙂
