  1. @mcnach, you've already sealed pClouds fate by saying similar to Dropbox. I've already had to upgrade Dropbox earlier tonight, albeit a free months trial, still can't clear the drummer's files from my Dropbox, too complicated, life's too short, yada yada. WeTransfer was up and running with files sent and and received with no issues within minutes. We have a winner.
  2. Drummer has just sent a link to the Dropbox folder which works as you say @pineweasel but I still can't get rid of his other stuff without deleting it from his folder, maybe deleting every and starting again would work but it's just unnecessarily difficult. He also sent it via WeTransfer, clicked big button in email, which opened it in the app, files play from app, each file has a drop down menu to delete, save etc. Well done WeTransfer, bad luck Dropbox. Thanks everyone
  3. Thanks @pineweasel, I won't pretend to really understand how a lot of this stuff works, it bores me stupid, I just need something that works easily. But your post makes perfect sense of the issue.
  4. Yes, that's the problem. He's paid the subscription so has more storage but he's just sent yesterdays gig and I can't open it as it says my Dropbox is full, even though it's actually his, kind of. I don't want to try moving it or anything because I think whatever I do I'm actually editing his folder. I saw that and that seems like the perfect solution. I don't really want to keep anything, just have a quick listen to certain parts/tracks. If we decide to keep anything mix/master and 'put out there' then we can decide that within seven days and the drummer can keep that file. The auto seven day deletion thing means the rest of us don't have to really do anything so sounds perfect. Thanks 🙂
  5. Thanks for the replies. Typically the drummer will send four files after each gig, first set and second set, both with all channels separate (so he can mix if we keep one) and two channel FOH mix. The two FOH mixes are small at around 3.5MB each but the pair with all channels is usually around 130MB, so it soon mounts up. The main issue with Dropbox is it won't let me delete anything that's sent to me, I only need to listen through and see what's worth keeping, sometimes just listen to certain songs I know weren't great and scrutinise what went wrong, then delete it all. I won't need a lot of storage as long as I can delete afterwards. I'll look into the suggestions. 👍
  6. We've been using the xr18 mixer for a long time now but recently our drummer has started recording every gig so we can get some good live recordings, it's also good to hear yourself from the audience perspective as things you don't notice live stand out when listened back. It records every channel individually so it can be mixed post recording, so as you can imagine, each set is a significant size file. He has been sharing via Dropbox but now my app says it's full and I can't delete anything as they're not my files, I just have access to view them. I did delete some thinking they were in my Dropbox but that deleted them from everybodys. I don't have a computer (the day I threw that in the tip was a liberating day) and don't want to download the files to my tablet or phone due to size. The only way I can see to proceed with Dropbox is to sign up but that means four of paying a tenner a month each, nearly £500 a year. What other ways is there to share large files like this without paying through the nose for it?
  7. I'd say give it a go, but, play with your EQ. I don't slap really, but when I have it always sounded quite bad, very harsh and not pleasant on the ears. Then a few years back I bought a Yamaha Magicstomp and while going through the previous owners presets I came across a slap setting, suddenly my slap sounded amazing. I didn't improve my technique obviously but it made my simple octave type lines sound sooo much better. It must just be EQ and compression but it's great.
  8. You could buy me a Takemine tb-10 if you're stuck for something to buy. 😉
  9. It's worth noting that re the Hofners, the el cheapo Ignition is hollow with vintage style pickups and the Contemporary has a centre block and modern pickups for a more contemporary sound. The Ignition is closer in tone and style to a proper Club, albeit nowhere near as good. This made my mind up when buying one. I also have a Longhorn but can't really compare as the Dano has rounds and the Club flats. The Club with LaBella flats is lovely, solid a deep sounding but can go reasonably bright, but not clanky, the Dano with rounds can get proper gnarly with a pick. Purely for control reasons I'd have a Dano, stacked volume and tone for each pickup the Hofner control plate is just wrong no matter how you dress it up. Love them both though.
  10. I've played in loads of small places, no raised area, face to face with punters. Only once has anyone played one of my basses and even then I offered the trial. It was before we started and he was genuinely interested in my Variax, him being a bassist. We chatted bass for a bit and I told him what it did and said "have a go". Another reason I don't get asked could be because my concentration when playing manifests itself in the look of a deranged killer.
  11. Yeah there's no warning when they run out. I was hoping maybe the light would go red for bit before so you knew you were on borrowed time but a two hour gig on full charge should be fine.
  12. Yes that's what I'll do. I just kept using them until they died just to see. I haven't tested the range yet, I might go out front tomorrow during sound check to see. I'll go for a............
  13. I actually thought along those lines as I connected my board to my amp last night. I could buy another pair to do as you suggest but I'm sure latency would become a major problem. On the plus side I might be in time with our guitarist then 😁
  14. I've found that the charge lasted for two two-hour rehearsals. No noticeable change in tone or volume but very slight latency issue. If, without playing a line, you just do one sharp pop you can hear the string slap the frets a fraction before the amplified note. I don't slap and only play a few octave pops in the Specials tunes and I don't think it will be an issue live, certainly not an issue with my normal playing in rehearsal. Works well on electric and doublebass. I'm going to gig with them tomorrow and see how it goes, I'll have a lead laying by my pedal just in case. 🙂
  15. I don't know, I'm not a courier. If, for instance, they will be in the same area the next day but have far too many drops today and time is getting on, they might feel it's easier to shove a card through your door and worry about it tomorrow when it might be quieter. Multiple customers drops at one address speaks for itself. I seem to be getting into a position of defending couriers, which I'm not, merely saying I can see the pressure some are put under in order to make the company maximum profit, and as with most jobs, when employees are put under too much pressure to carry out an unachievable amount of work the standards will inevitably drop.
  16. Yes quite, although under pressure (dum dum dum da da dum ) some drivers just don't give two f's either. I'm lucky in that I live in a quiet rural area and have a large gated car port type thing, all the regular couriers know to leave stuff in there, in fact a lot of the neighbours stuff goes in there as well, I've got quite the distribution hub going on.
  17. I don't want to stick up for these companies as clearly they need to get their shizzle together, but the drivers are getting it from all angles. I used to work on a lot of DPD vans and speaking to the drivers when they came to collect them, they quite often had 180 drops to do in a day, and being in Cornwall that could be a good few miles between each drop. It's just impossible hence dropping a number of parcels at one address or just entering 'sorry we missed you' on the system and hoping the next day was quieter. We, the end user are complaining about them but they are getting more shiz piled on them by the management of the depots.
  18. Quite, I never said they were good, just not one hit wonders 👍
  19. A local bunch of older musicians got together recently having been in other bands over the years and called themselves 'Metal Fatigue', which I thought was a good name for an aging metal covers band. The only problem was they were seriously middle of the road rock.
