1. Depending on who you believe, Tearjerker by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers is apparently about Kurt Cobain.
2. If you don't need the onboard preamps headphone feature then I can heartily recommend bypassing the the preamp by wiring the pickup straight to the output jack socket. My onboard preamp just added hiss and a general lack of depth to the sound, its much better using a preamp pedal or just straight to the amp, both my Ashdowns and Phil Jones amps like the signal direct without the need for a pedal. I put a strip of rubber under the bridge and the only other thing needed was to slightly bend the wire scroll on the tailpeice to stop them vibrating together. Loads of warm thump and depth.
3. Better call the Karma Police if stuff has been nicked
4. I've bought s/h doublebass strings to see what suits me and my bass. At £150 and upwards it's expensive to buy new strings just to bin them after a couple of rehearsals/gigs if they don't suit.
5. In one of my bands there are two acoustic guitars and a doublebass, I know which instrument draws the most attention.
6. 80's/90's American punk has a good supply. Pennywise Bad Religion Green Day I'm sure there's lots more.
7. That old dam story doesn't hold water.
8. Ooh a year of birth bass. I could never own a bass that looked like cheese on toast though.
9.
Source?
From memory it's in Jon Savages book 'England's Dreaming' and in John Lydons autobiography.
10. Isn't that how they came by most of their gear back the early Pistols days?
11.
It's like eating peas with your knife. You can do it but if you have any class, you shouldn't.
I eat my peas with honey, I've done it all my life, It makes my peas taste funny, But keeps them on the knife. Spike Milligan
12. One of the funniest things I've had go wrong was years ago. We had no money and I'd rigged up our cheapo, secondhand lights to a homemade footswitch that when pressed it would switch off the normal coloured lights and switch on the smoke machine and strobe behind the drumkit, we used it mainly for our cover of Overkill by Motorhead. It got to that point in the song for strobe and smoke to accompany the drums (if you know the song you'll know where I mean), so I over enthusiastically stomp on the switch and break it with the smoke and strobe going, I couldn't turn it off without unplugging from the wall at the end of the song, by which time the stage and most of the dance floor had completely disappeared from sight. The crowd loved it, nobody had a seizure and it was our last song so it all ended well but it did take quiet a while to clear enough to be able to see anything You don't always need double of everything, just make sure what you do have is suitable for the task
13.
Hopefully it should be somewhat sparkly by the end of the week
Cool
14. Make it sparkley, make it sparkley NOW! I want to see pictures
15. Glass half full and all that. This could be the cure for GAS we've all been looking for. We've probably all got enough gear to last out our playing days (consumables aside), so let's stop grumbling about new gear costing to much and concentrate on playing the gear we have to the best of our abilities.
16. I don't like the Beatles and will avoid listening to them if at all possible. There's just something about them I don't like.
17.
Ones entire bits are unwanted.
Like this?
18. The problem with sprinkling the flake on is it will take loads of layers of lacquer to bury it, especially if using aerosols as they will be thinner. Also aerosols aren't hardened by a chemical reaction as a two pack sprayed lacquer would be so building up many many layers brings it's own problems with it fully hardening.
19. I'd try wiring what you've already got in series first. It's free, reversible and it might be enough.
20.
You could alternate by fret -maple/rosewood/maple/rosewood etc That'll screw with the 'experts' minds.....
Or side by side straight down the fretboard. Obviously maple for the crisp D and G strings and rosewood for the warmer E and A tones.
21.
Funny isn't it, modern music isn't supposed to appeal to people of my age, but instead of the previous shock and horror of Rock & Roll, Glam, Punk, and even New Romantics, the current bunch seem to have rebelled by going in the opposite direction, whiney, twee nonsense (a.k.a. Coldplay). Thank goodness for Grime, Kate Tempest and the Sleaford Mods!
The majority of youngsters have got it too good, nothing to rebel against. It seems to me that all the good musical revolutions came from hardship, angst, poverty, political tension, boredom, lack of jobs and a general hate of everything going on around you. Which makes me think if all the doom mongering press are correct then we should've had something exciting from the yoof by now.
22.
Learning grammar.
I weren't
23.
Got my 3 today...they're still in the car and can't be arsed to get them yet ....do they come with batteries ?
They certainly do Mine worked well at rehearsal last night. The guitarist was playing out of tune, I threw my tuner at the back of his head and it brought him right into line. Result!

25. Used one on my doublebass at rehearsal tonight, it fits on the bridge and faces the right direction better than my Snark. Both of them rotate and swivel freely and tune well enough. I'm happy
