1.
I don't like basses with another mans penis on them. I think if another mans penis is touching my bass, it makes me less inclined to play it.
Can't say I've ever encountered this problem. Bollocks yes, all the time, but never a penis.

3. Flying Lizards - Money The Automatic - Monster Whale - Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe
4. I can see the point. A lot of people listen to the radio in places where running a computer wouldn't work. I have the radio on in the shed at home and the workshop at work, lots of tradesmen listen to the radio on site. We're not all within reach of a computer all day.
5. I can tolerate most things on the right bass but LED markers look awful on any bass. They can make the most beautifully crafted bass look like a cheap Fisher Price toy. Hideous.
6. Voodoo Boomstick!
7. A localish shop has one in stock and I was going to try it out but I have such an unhealthy lust for a Takamine TB10 I haven't wanted to tempt myself with the Aria.
8. I keep reading the title as "Who lives at the Shea Stadium". I don't know Loyd Grossman, who does live in the Shea Stadium?
9. I sort of like that, in a strange way, I think.
10. I used the second channel on my PJB Suitcase for the first time last week as I was using an ABG instead of my usual DB and thought I'd set the second eq for that. I spent ages fiddling with settings, changing leads, changing battery in bass, unplugging and reconnecting everything but no sound. I thought my amp had packed up........ then I unplugged the bass from the amps headphone socket and plugged it in the second input and it was fine
11. Hey Soul Sister by Train references a band rather than a song: Hey soul sister, ain't that Mr. Mister on the radio?
12. A Danelectro Longhorn, either six string baritone or four string bass, would be my choice for a 1960 bass.

Kadabra

I really like the look of that.
14. I use a Suitcase with the 4B extension cab in a pretty loud band with doublebass. I normally use it for monitoring and DI through the PA, in this situation just the suitcase would do but the 4b helps get it up the head height so I use both. For a couple of months the fan in the PA amp was broken and the bass would cook it so I didn't DI, the PJB setup coped fine but I wouldn't have liked to pushed it much more. I think it would cope ok in a loud rock band scenario but that's eight of the little speakers at 300w, a briefcase with two speakers at 100w would struggle I'd imagine. Also the suitcase is not a suitcase that's been designed to be carried very far, it's plenty heavy enough and the two handles on top make a one handed lift awkward, it'll bang your legs constantly so two hands are needed. It sounds lovely though
15. The Pod X3 Live has both guitar and bass as well as vocal pre amps. I don't know if the XT does it but the X3 has two completely separate signal paths which you can use as a bi amped type setup with clean bass through one channel and effects through the other, I really like this feature.
16.
It's amazing what you can build with a bit of imagination. Before the days of LED I built some light boxes. Painted the boxes black and fitted 240v standard ceiling lamp holders and coloured bulbs. Tilt towards the band and no one is any the wiser.
I used to use a pair of kitchen lights, the round type with three individually angled spotlights. Put different coloured bulbs in them and a length of cable with a three pin plug. One either side of the stage, one colour aimed across the floor, one colour aimed at the ceiling and the other at the drum kit, looked really good all for about thirty quid. Was ok until a drunk bloke fell over and put his hand on top of the bulbs to help himself up, the bits of skin left on the bulbs smelt horrible not that problem with LEDs nowadays.
17. I accidentally stacked my cabs upside-down at the last gig, took me ages to work out why my low notes sounded higher and the high notes sounded lower.
18. Objection over ruled, you can join them as well
19. I like this one idea, thanks. Need to buy a looper now though
20.
Didn't Sting play with the Police? Boom, boom!
And you can join him
21.
E low, E low, E low.
You should be sentenced to three months in the 'Bad Jokes' thread.
22. I've never heard of the band but what a truly awful thing to happen to a group of friends. Very, very sad indeed.
23. It's alright I suppose, but I think you'll find it's not quite like my Toblerone
24. CAKE. A bit of allsorts thrown in to each album, rock, funk, country, hip-hop, blues, etc help keep each album a nice mix but still unmistakably CAKE. But every album has that same mix and it's slowly getting watered down from the first few albums. Still love 'em though. Early CAKE bass, mmmmm.
25.
Are you in a band? If not join one now!
Was going to say the exact same thing. I learnt on the job so to speak, and every time I've joined a new band my playing skill level has leapt up the ladder. It's an invaluable experience.
