Does the Copperburst Danelectro Longhorn count as tan brown sparkle sunburst? If so then it's very very high on my gas list.

I use a PJB Suitcase, with the two independent channels it's perfect for two instruments. Although a bass amp, any acoustic instruments I've put through it sound absolutely gorgeous, guitar, bass, doublebass, mandolin, ukulele, 12 string....... Masses of bottom end but sparkly clean top end with the 12 string or mandolin. I absolutely love mine and am at serious risk of boring people rigid about it.

"Why have they put the drummer behind all that glass?" Quite, it shouldn't be glass, rather something more solid so you can't see them gurning away and sweating all over the place. A nice solid wall with a picture of a chimp hanging on it would look nice.

I used to play it on a standard four string with the e dropped to c. Got the tone absolutely nailed and didn't find a problem with the c string. At a large beer festival (1500 people or so) a chap comes up to me in the break saying he's never heard another band get the bass spot on so it must've sounded alright. Saying that, there were 270 different beers to choose from so what state his brain was in, no one knows.

I've just put an order in for a PJ four string, don't even know why I want it but it will become a project. I had some other small stuff in my basket and the PJ made it worth ordering. I'll see if the email comes

I think the loss leader thing does work online, as long as the seller is charging postage in the way that Thomann do. £30 for the strings, then add the flat rate postage, suddenly not massively cheaper than elsewhere, unless you pop a couple other things in your order to make it worthwhile, oh hang on I've just spent a load more than I planned to.

There's a Hofner Shorty on ebay at the mo, £90 buy it now, £9.50 postage.

Good old Basschat comes up trumps again. Less than twenty minutes and I'm sorted.

Great choice of colour. I am about to refinish a fretless P and had narrowed it down to that Fiat mint green or Mini Ice Blue (duck egg blue). It just so happens I have a Mini to paint in that blue next week so my choice was made for me, but now I'll see yours finished in the Fiat green and doubt myself.

The stage gets slippery if there's nothing to soak up the dribble.

I have a tendency to do fills in time with the snare fills, not all the time but when I feel it fits. It just adds that something to the drum fill, reinforcing it but not that noticeable as a bass fill.

It happens. I feel the live tone I get is better from my cheap Aria jazz copy than my American Fender jazz, mainly because I don't own an American Fender jazz.

Keep this thread updated please Coldflows. I'd love to see this bass back up and running and being used again.

Top tip. If you give it a quick rub with 80 grit or similar first just to break the surface then the nitromors will lift the paint quicker. Obviously don't sand enough to scratch the wood, just scratch up the surface so the stripper can get in there.

Used to do a cover of 'Under my wheels' many moons ago, always good fun.

Well I have to say the suitcase lived up to expectations, exceeded them even. Such a lovely clear articulate sound. Made my bass sound the best it ever has. I'm one very happy bunny

What if it plays like 'I can't believe it's not butter'? Is that good or bad?

I have probably completely missed the point to this saying, but what the hell does 'plays like butter' mean? Surely butter is the last thing you'd want a bass to play like, soft and claggy and leaves your hands in a right mess. I've never played a bass and thought, I wish this felt more like a big lump of butter. Enlighten me
