  1. Maybe a G&L Kiloton? The same but different.
  2. @Paul S I still get that childlike wonder when I plug one in. Here's this bass that, let's face it, feels and looks like a toy, then you plug it in and WOW, that tone. It'll go from dark and thumpy to very Bruce Foxton-esque clank easily, but wherever you have the controls it's got clarity. I don't even think I'm going to do much to it, a good clean and polish and wear those battle scars with pride.
  3. I literally posted "I'm in", closed BC and opened Facebook and it was staring at me. Slightly tatty, but local and half the price it should be. I love a Dano bass so thought I'll add it to the project pile. In my defence I've just packaged up the more expensive Ashdown bass to go back, so I'm already winning... aren't I? ๐Ÿ˜
  4. 'A' Bomb in Wardour Street - The Jam
  5. Well this is embarrassing... I'm out! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
  6. Actually, count me in. The plan this year is to focus on finishing all my embarrassingly neglected projects and maybe even sell some of other basses. I'm pretty sure I've got all the bits I need for each project so shouldn't fall foul. I've got three more days to go to beat last years attempt. ๐Ÿ˜„
  7. My brain can't work it out at the mo but would the fret spacing work to the scale length? If the first three frets went, then the old 15th fret would become the new 12th, would this be halfway between the new nut and the bridge? It might well be, say if 4" was chopped off but the space between 12th and 15th was 2" then all would be good, wouldn't it? ๐Ÿค”
  8. Better get a Marshall full stack for rehearsal ๐Ÿ˜. Great set list. I've said it before and I don't mind saying it again, Another Girl Another Planet is the finest pop song ever recorded IMO, perfection from start to finish. Congrats and enjoy the skinny strings ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  9. Well it's going back. ๐Ÿ˜” As I said, the neck is gorgeous, the body and finish is great, it's relatively lightweight and plays nicely. The hardware is fairly generic and the bad fitment is easily rectified. But, it just sounds so bland. No character of its own at all. For ยฃ300 it's OK, no better than Harley Bentons for half the price, but OK. Anymore and I'd really struggle to see what you're paying for. The 'proper' Saints are ยฃ850 from Ashdown, far more on pre order from some of the big shops, over ยฃ1200 from the one of them. I think these are a Chinese made budget version of the Korean made The Saint basses, but the only difference I can see is that the tuners are Wilkinson (I think) rather than Hipshot licensed Ultralites. The pickups might be cheaper as well but the proper Saint doesn't specify what pickups it uses, just says P and J style so I'd assume there just a fairly generic pickup set anyway. I guess the actual price and level of QC will determine whether these sell or not when they're released. As others have hinted at I'm not really sure who these are aimed at, too pricey for beginner/budget instruments, and not high enough quality to be in the over ยฃ500 bracket. Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I'm not planning on buying anything for the rest of the year. ๐Ÿ˜
  12. If you learn Eighties then you get a 3 for 1 deal with The Damned and Nirvana thrown in. ๐Ÿ˜
  13. I'd Rather Go Blind - Etta James ... and you probably will
  14. Get A Grip On Yourself - The Stranglers ๐Ÿ˜

  16. Yeah I know but that's what he advertised it for. I felt a little guilty but I just wanted a cheap keyboard to try and didn't want to spend much, and he was happy for someone to make use of it. He said he was going to take it to the tip. At the time he only knew it powered up and I didn't try it. He was round a friends house for dinner and I met him in the driveway there.
  17. Happy To Be Stuck With You - Huey Lewis and The News Absolutely terrible song.
  18. I've had a month of getting to grips with this and I bloody love it. A good clean first and it's in really good shape. As far as I've found so far everything works. I know it's kind of pretending to be a real keyboard, and most of it is way out of my understanding, but I'm amazed at what this thing can do. I'm still stuck in the early 80s sonically so it's sounds suit me just fine. The pianos and electric pianos are really good, it has it's own versions of most the big names, even other manufacturers trademark sounds, the strings are good too. Loads of sounds I'll never use as well. It has an in depth synth section which seems fairly easy to create your own synth sounds as well as just tweak the onboard ones, and a sequencer, the bits that interested me. It seems that you can use it like a recording desk but I haven't got into that yet. Lots of features like polyphonic aftertouch which baffles me (something to do with midi I think) but hints that Casio must've meant business with this keyboard. I no pianist but the pianos are that good that I've found myself coming up with a lot of new stuff that I never intended to. Anything that inspires you to write new music must be good, right? I've bought far too much gear this year but this is one of the best things, and only twenty quid.
  19. My namesake's husband, I'll have to have a listen. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘ Lick My Love Pump - Spinal Tap
