  1. The G5S is an absolute steal of a bass. A far better bass than its monetary value would imply. I bought one brand new in '99 as my second' real' bass and sold it last year. I went back to four strings ten years ago but couldn't bring myself to sell it as it was so nice. In the end it was just rediculous keeping a bass that was never played. It's for sale again on facebook if anyone's interested.
  2. Atmosphere - Joy Division... or the Russ Abbot cover.
  3. In a rock setting the 1025 is a solid choice. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
  4. I think those likes are as much for Len Derby's help as much as the bass itself. It really is a lovely bass though, it sounds fantastic. As @neepheidsays, there's just something about the earlier BBs.
  5. While you're here @Al Krow, put me down for a BB1100S fretless on the first page. 🙂 A wonderful thing it is too.
  6. Personally I'd have the 1025 over the 735. I can't put my finger on it but they just feel like a better quality instrument. The only way I'd be choosing the 735 over the 1025 is if I had to have an active bass. I did actually sell my 1024 and bought a 732 for the reason of wanting an active, but I do have a 424, which I kept over the 1024 as I prefer the 424, just to add more confusion. To me the 1024 is a polite refined gent, the 424 is a gobby teenager and the 732 is, well just an active. That said they are all great basses, just depends what you're after.
  7. Hitching a Ride - Vanity Fare Edit: Beaten to it, but it still kinda works.
  8. Oh great! Now I've got The Damned's Psychomania in my head, but with glitter instead. 😄 That orange one is ace though.
  9. Yeh Yeh - Georgie Fame
  10. When I put cloverleaf tuners on my Variax I used a cheapy Lidl step cutter bit to take the hole up to 18mm on both sides, then ran an 18mm bit through the centre part. The 2 or 3mm deep 18mm hole on either side from the step cutter acts as a guide going in and prevents break out coming out.
  11. Smokestack Lighting - Howlin' Wolf
  12. I can do any measurements you want from a Squier bass vi tomorrow, if required. 👍
  13. Them Bones - Alice in Chains
  14. Why am I sat here drooling over this? I've already bloody got one! 😄 A really good price with the FCH3 bridge and tuner upgrade. 👍
  15. Black Pudding - Sisters of Mercy
  16. Uh oh! I'm possibly joining a classic punk band and was idly browsing for a slightly knocked around white P with a black pickguard, you know, just in case. I really can't but this would be perfect. Someone hurry up and buy this before I do something silly. 😁
  17. Virginia Plane -Roxy Music
  18. Buy another and return this one for a refund in the new packaging. Effectively they'll be sending you a replacement that you'll pay a 100% deposit on, refundable once the defective bass is returned.
  19. Love in a Void - Siouxsie and the Banshees
  20. Bruce Thomas and Pete Thomas, one of the best rhythm sections ever.
  21. I've got a bass with with a sautéed neck. It plays like butter. 🙈
  22. You can't touch this - McHammer 🙈
  23. Say Hello, Wave Goodbye - Soft Cell
  24. Nightboat to Cairo - Madness
