  1. Just realised after leaving feedback for another member that I never left Clarky feedback after buying his rather sexy Kay K162, apologies. Excellent person to deal with, I'd have absolutely no reservations dealing with Clarky again. And I'm still enjoying the Kay 😎

Close enough to be a pair? Definitely related. Shergold Marathon 4 & Eastwood Hooky Bass 6 Pro (Fac 51 edition)
  3. I've just bought Andy's fantastic Shergold Marathon. I have absolutely no reservations dealing with Andy, straight up honest and fair guy. Thanks for the Shergold Andy 😎

  5. Lipstick Powder & Paint - Shakey, the king of double denim.
  6. We Are Detective - Thompson Twins

  11. Look at your speakers. You can usually set the cut off level higher and you can hear the bottom end rumble disappear. But when it's set to just lose the inaudible rumble you can honestly see the speakers move less. I use an FDeck with doublebass through my PJB Suitcase and without the FDeck my little speakers were pumping back and forwards, switch the FDeck on and the sound is the same but my speakers are barely moving. Therefore my amp is getting a huge rest as well not having to produce all that power to move those speakers. I also find that the entire band sounds cleaner as a result of there being less subsonics in the room.
  12. Beautiful. That fretboard is something else. 😍
  13. Three Little Pigs - Green Jelly
  14. "... Opened it and read it, it said they were suckers" Sucker MC's - Run DMC
  15. All Sparks - Editors
  16. Saw Electric Six at Exeter Phoenix last Friday. Only a 500 capacity venue with very good sound, back to how gigs should be. Electric Six were fantastic, having fun but totally delivered the goods.
  17. If anyone is 'on the fence' with buying this one, just buy it! These really are fantastic basses, usual faultless Yamaha build and with the soapbar and piezo bridge PU, coupled with an uncomplicated 3 band eq, there is a surprising range of tones. From light and airy to deep thump, but with the soapbar pretty much in the P sweetspot it always punches through a mix. Andy hasn't put me up to post this, I just love these basses (I have two), and if you're debating it you should just buy it, you won't regret it. 😎
  18. I'll look forward to reading your NBD post. I don't think you'll be disappointed with it. They are different but that's what makes them so special. Can you say what finish you've gone for or do you want to keep it secret until the big reveal? Whatever pictures you've seen, the Guru's work looks even better in the flesh (wood). I'm actually excited for you now. 😁
  19. Apologies for the delay in replying, I saw your post and meant to reply later when I had more time, then promptly forgot. 🤦 The 4005 is still my main gigging bass, but that is as much for aesthetics as it is sound. However, if I could only have one bass I could quite happily live with just this one. The downsides are, it's big, it's not light and without modding the sound wasn't exactly what I was after, but it might be what you're after. With the pickups at extreme ends of the available space it doesn't have a prominent mid bump, lots of bass and lots of treble, but not a lot of mids like a Precision. Being in a Mod band I wanted/needed those mids but adding a series switch and some careful EQing helped enormously. As for the size and weight, I'm 6' so I like a large bass and I don't struggle with the weight. It's not overly heavy but if you're looking for lightweight, it ain't. All that said, it looks gorgeous, plays lovely, sounds great and it is beautifully built. A real eye catcher that people do notice. I don't see myself moving it on for a very long time.
  20. Going to see Electric Six on Friday in a nice small (500 capacity) venue. Really looking forward to it.
  21. Saw Manics and Suede at the Eden Project last night. Manics were on first which I was surprised at as they're arguably the bigger band. They were good but I always find them a little lacking something which I can't quite put my finger on. Then Suede came on and suddenly it was clear why they were on last. They were absolutely on fire and blew the Manics out of water. Brett Anderson is a fantastic frontman and had the crowd in the palm of his hand from the first line, huge energy. I had a great night.
  22. All Stood Still - Ultravox
  23. Yeah but he looked f*****g epic! 😂😂
  24. Went to see Kings of Leon at Ashton Gate, Bristol last Sunday. A band my wife has always wanted to see live. Support were The Vaccines who I was looking forward to more and they were great. KoL, given it was a stadium (albeit small) gig and the usual downsides to that they were fantastic. Everyone on here universally dispises Sex on Fire but I don't mind admitting I'd give anything to be on a stage having an entire stadium singing a song I'd written back at me the way the crowd did. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Earlier in the week we'd been to see Paolo Nutini at The Eden Project, again a gig for my wife, but, I was completely bowled over by Paolo. It wasn't what I was expecting from the twee early hits. His voice is absolutely fantastic, effortlessly gravelly, and he put on hell of a show. I'd happily go again tomorrow if he was playing somewhere. Well, I wouldn't actually because we're off to see Suede and Manics at Eden tomorrow.
  25. Off to see Suede and Manics at Eden tomorrow. A double headliner tour but I was surprised that Suede are on last, effectively headlining. I'm looking forward to Suede more but Manics must be the more popular band. Maybe they alternate. I haven't seen the Manics since they were a four piece.
