  1. Saw Manics and Suede at the Eden Project last night. Manics were on first which I was surprised at as they're arguably the bigger band. They were good but I always find them a little lacking something which I can't quite put my finger on. Then Suede came on and suddenly it was clear why they were on last. They were absolutely on fire and blew the Manics out of water. Brett Anderson is a fantastic frontman and had the crowd in the palm of his hand from the first line, huge energy. I had a great night.
  2. All Stood Still - Ultravox
  3. Yeah but he looked f*****g epic! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  4. Went to see Kings of Leon at Ashton Gate, Bristol last Sunday. A band my wife has always wanted to see live. Support were The Vaccines who I was looking forward to more and they were great. KoL, given it was a stadium (albeit small) gig and the usual downsides to that they were fantastic. Everyone on here universally dispises Sex on Fire but I don't mind admitting I'd give anything to be on a stage having an entire stadium singing a song I'd written back at me the way the crowd did. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Earlier in the week we'd been to see Paolo Nutini at The Eden Project, again a gig for my wife, but, I was completely bowled over by Paolo. It wasn't what I was expecting from the twee early hits. His voice is absolutely fantastic, effortlessly gravelly, and he put on hell of a show. I'd happily go again tomorrow if he was playing somewhere. Well, I wouldn't actually because we're off to see Suede and Manics at Eden tomorrow.
  5. Off to see Suede and Manics at Eden tomorrow. A double headliner tour but I was surprised that Suede are on last, effectively headlining. I'm looking forward to Suede more but Manics must be the more popular band. Maybe they alternate. I haven't seen the Manics since they were a four piece.
  6. Paulo Nutini at Eden tonight. My wife's choice but it's a lovely evening, the sun is shining and it should be very enjoyable evening.
  7. Away From The Numbers - The Jam
  8. The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
  9. A pair of Guilds and a vintage BB, oh my! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  10. My super clean, owned from new, gigged for ten years Yamaha BBG5S that I sold a couple of years ago as I just don't play fives anymore. I loved that bass and it was the only bass I owned in those ten years of gigging.
  11. If we're doing flashbacks. Yamaha BBG5S, through a 2x15 & 4x12 bi-amped rig. Sometimes added a guitar amp as well using an Akai Unibass. When bigger was better ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.
  12. For all those that say shim material has no effect on the tone, I can hear the difference between the suits of playing cards used. Clubs, Hearts, and Diamonds are fine but Spades really shine when you dig in.
  13. Bass gurning from last Saturday.
  14. "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." ๐Ÿ˜‰
  15. Lemonade - Beyonce
  16. Atmosphere - Joy Division / Russ Abbott
  17. Relearning Nite Klub by The Specials. I haven't played it for four years or so and was struggling a bit until I found this YouTube video. It's helping it all fall into place again. This is a fantastic fun bassline to play by Sir Horace.
  18. I don't know what you mean. M'lud, I have on two occasions partaken in the purchasing of musical instruments. Both of these said purchases have been to further investigate musical avenues new to myself. Without these instruments my musical studies of new avenues could have been brought to abrupt end. It would therefore be entirely justified to make the assumption that both of these purchases were made purely in the interests of educational needs, and not merely cos they looked perdy... ... Maybe
  19. So in a roundabout way, as the only song mentioned was released in '84, are you saying the 80s was the best decade for music? ๐Ÿ˜‰
  20. Boxer Beat - JoBoxers
  21. Lump - Presidents of the USA
  22. Shit Liszt - L7
  23. The Upstairs Room - The Cure
  24. Yes it is. Now sit down, shut up and do what you're told. ๐Ÿ˜
  25. ^^^ Six string piccolo bass innit ๐Ÿ˜‰
