Yeah, most seem to have the pearloid cover. Perhaps mine has just been taken off. Although I've seen quite a few without.

Before anything I'd try ironing it back down. The stain has probably dissolved the glue but there might be enough left under the veneer to reheat and stick down.

The sun is shining here so I took some out in the garden and did actually do a Yamaha family shot. It's in the Yammy appreciation thread.

Does anyone know why some of the 2s have a black neck pickup and others have white? Was it just a choice of cover or does it signify something else?

Not possible I'm afraid, not possible. π

Ha ha, a skint one, but I'll take the compliment. ππ I've been buying one bass a week lately, this has to stop. π

Well, the family has expanded recently. L-R. Attitude Ltd 2, BB1024x, BEX4, BB424x & BBPH.

Linky to Attitude NBD. It's been a pricey couple of months π. Apologies for the Epiphone. π

Well this one was sudden and unexpected. π A Yamaha Attitude Ltd 2 came up for sale four miles away for a very good price. While not particularly looking for one, I've always fancied trying one. My first 'proper' bass was a surf green Attitude Special (P pickup and woofer but single output and only basic P/Us) so I've always had a soft spot for them, and Yamaha in particular. The bass was in the original case with all the candy for Β£875 so it had to come home with me. The seller had the EBS Billy Sheehan drive pedal (purple one) and a Boss LS2 pedal, both boxed, along with power supply and patch leads which they threw in for an extra Β£75. Deal done!! It's a 2012 and has been well gigged, being her number one bass, but has been well looked after. It has one tiny chip on the lower horn and lots of faint swirl scratches all over, but no real digs. Hardware and frets are great and both front and back of neck are in fantastic condition, although the bridge seems to have a funny wear patch, but it might be grime that will polish off, there is plenty on DNA around the bridge area. It will be getting a proper clean and polish. The swirls should all polish out and I'll probably touch the chip in with 2k paint and flat and polish it so it's invisible. It's really nice to play but has a big, big neck, although it's a relatively shallow so doesn't feel too cumbersome. It does make other basses feel a bit toy like when you swap back though. The tone is immense, the P pickup is wired straight to the jack via a volume so is bright and punchy and you tame it by adding in some of the woofer. Well that's what I've been doing for the mo. The neck woofer is still very bright and articulate with the tone up but pumps out almost sub bass tones if wanted. Blended together they are just massive sounding and I'd imagine would cut through any mix. Never again will I roll my eyes at a Les Paul wielding guitarist with a Marshall stack, bring it on wimp!! Picture time!! Lots of nicks in the case unfortunately, but hey, that's what it's for. The only chip. The mark/grime. Swirls (hard to photograph). Not too many headstock chips considering nearly ten years worth of gigging. Between frets 3 and 5, usually the most wear but barely anything at all. The front and rear of neck is mark free. Even the pedals are virtually mark free. Time to give it a really good clean and polish now.

Funnily enough I'm taking pictures right now. ππ

Can I add a question here? This is a very simplified way of explaining my question and hopefully it'll make sense, and all very generally speaking. If a 250k pot (darker tone) goes from 1 to 10, does a 500k pot (brighter tone) go from 1 to say, 15, so that the full tone range of a 250k pot is included and extended, albeit squished up in the same sweep? Or is the start point altered so that you get 5 to 15 of a 250k pot?

If you just need a tiny bit of extra room, the little plastic finishing trim for access cutout is only held in with a tiny crosshead screw. Whip out the screw, lift the trim out and you'll have a couple of mil extra wiggle room, and if you do mark the edges of the scratchplate then the trim will cover it. -

Why, of course. π It's certainly not mint, but is a well looked after bass that's seen ten years of gigging. One tiny chip through to the wood on the lower horn, lots of very faint swirl type scratches on the front and back and the black finish on the bridge is wearing thin. Neck and fretboard are mark free, as are the frets. Case has lots of little nicks in the covering. I could touch in the chip easily and give the body a polish and it'd be as good as new. I'm assuming the body is finished in poly, not nitro? I haven't had a real chance to get to grips with it yet, but... IT SOUNDS IMMENSE!! Pics to follow. ππ
