  1. In my experience, a lot of bands are run by bass players... if they aren't on the gig, there isn't a gig. Sometimes, you just have to be tenacious in searching opportunities out. Networking locally is the biggest source of work, or has been for me. The skills required... how long have you got? Excellent communication, being responsive to all forms of comms (texts, calls, emails, social media posts) and replying quickly and efficiently, having a thick skin, doing all your prep, arriving on time and being punctual and ready to go. Keeping your ears open, going the extra mile if required, keeping your gear in top condition and carry spares for everything. BVs are an added bonus, lead vox even more so. Be the dep you would want to hire. Happy to discuss privately by PM if you want to go in depth.
  2. Yep, certainly do! A subtle change of manufacturer/material/gauge/winding can make a bass sing, when it didn't before.
  3. That's David Page, formerly with Young Gun Silver Fox.
  4. Got a set of 45-105 Picato steel roundwounds on my Fender Precision Lyte that were fitted in July 2005 just in case the Fender Mike Dirnt Precision I'd ordered from Thomann didn't arrive in time for my first Green Day tribute gig. Thankfully, the signature bass arrived the next morning so that got used. The Fender Lyte sits in the rack and the strings are still fresh.
  5. Had to sit through a decade of that...the summer of 1995... I knew the 'Glory' album word for word and I didn't even like them. Some venues just put the CD on rotation...... did your head in after 3 months!
  6. Just a bit...have to consider which ones I might get sued for reporting....I'll draw up a shortlist...
  7. 28 years worth....jeepers, I wouldn't know where to start!
  8. Thanks for posting that, dude! Nice one!
  9. Bought a Source Audio Gemini Chorus pedal from Emmett on Monday, posted Tuesday, arrived on Wednesday. A very quick and easy transaction. Well packaged and well looked after. Many thanks.
  10. This might be helpful. If you've got any questions, let me know.
  11. Very sad news from @jaydee_guitars this morning on the passing of John Diggins. Along with Pete and Ian from Wal Bass and Rob at @statusgraphite, John spearheaded the demand for bass exotica emanating from the UK throughout the Eighties and right up to the present day. He will be much missed but his legacy will live on. RIP John.
