1. Actually, it's very good and very safe, we're over 200 miles away from the conflict, playing in a Western/English bar that stays open very late so most people end up there during the evening.

Having a blast, kept my GB's at home though.

Seems to have worked for Spector for nearly 30 years....you don't think you're just being picky? :)

  3.
Hmmmmm, I'm still not a fan of the EMG's in mine. The sound doesn't do the maple neck justice I think. The EMG's have a very distinctive flavour which is fine for live playing when I get the EQ scooped gently but for solo noodling at home I wish my pickups in which had a slightly sweeter treble. Ideally a pair of Delano SBC's would do the trick but they're a different shape to the EMG soapbars.
He's never happy you know.....

I've dallied on and off with selling one of my older Euro 5's but each time I do I just realise there'll be regret involved afterwards and if I did I'll probably end up with a bass I dont like as much. furthermore I cant seperate my two in deciding which one I prefer.

    Lovely, lovely, lovely......!!!!!

  5. Hi guys (and girls),
The five string basses were scored by both Adrian and I, Stuart was unavailable to take part due to work commitments. There was no bias, of the basses we were supplied with, the GB won hands down, simple as that. No alterior motives. If those of us who write for the mag weren't allowed to review stuff we owned, I wouldn't be able to review most of the stuff that comes our way. The fact I have a bass collection is due to the work I do and what I need the basses to do, which doesn't (and shouldn't) prevent me from offering a fair, unbiased opinion on gear for review. If anything, it gives me an insight into the basses, amps and pedals.

    Cheers,
    Mike

They're really nice basses as well. Thing is I really need a wooden neck for this job. It really is the Sadowsky sound I'm after, I'm thinking. Although I did play a Sandberg Panther V at Electro last week & that was fantastic as well!

How about searching out a T-Bass with a wooden neck then. You're more than welcome to try mine out if you're down south at all, I'm sure Rob would do one with a wooden neck if you wanted one. Not putting the Sadowsky's down, excellent basses but considering your rapport with Mr Green, I would have thought a T-Bass would keep things simple and 'in-house' so to speak.

+1!! Considering your love of all things Status Rich, I'm surprised you haven't thought about this. Or maybe you have and just didn't mention it.

Can anyone tell me & save me a call to the Bass-Bishop of Colchester... How easy is it to get front LED's retrofitted into a through-neck Status?

Very!!! Got them on my Empathy and 2000.

  9. Whilst researching some items for a magazine article , I had cause to contact several shops via telephone today. Even though they had no reason to help me, I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and general level of friendliness and support offered by these shops with information I needed. So it just goes to show that shop owners aren't all miserable buggers and that some will go out of their way to help which is a good sign. Honourable mentions go to Merchant City Music in Glasgow (Hi Ali!), Andertons in Guildford, Gig Sounds in Tooting, Dawsons, Nevada Music in Portsmouth and Musicland Ltd in Bromley.

Thank you one and all, much appreciated.

    Mike
