Mike is a true gent!
Told you before, they've already been passed on to a more willing encumbent.

Cheers Martin, pleasure. Catch u soon.

  2. You should have a word with Bernie about that, his workshop is far too small but somewhere in or around London with food and drink close at hand would be good. Speak to his lordship, he might even have a few ideas...sorry we seem to be hijacking the thread....nevermind the bass has sold. Well done to the lucky new owner, wise purchase.

  3. Nope, ordered them from AxesRUS, Born2BeMild wanted the same thing back in August so there is a topic about it, I'm just too lazy to look for the link.

AxesRUS are very good by the way, helpful and very quick. Big thumbs up!

  4. Thought it was about time I added some pics of the beast I acquired in the Reverb sale 2 months ago....it's not possible to have too much Spector porn anyway.

  5.
So come on Mike, which is your fave...? Your number 1?
Too difficult!!!!! Depends what I'm doing or need them for, which is why I have them, most of them had a reason for me buying them.

The GB's are exceptional and are one of the few basses that if I did 20 gigs in 20 different places, they would sound great regardless and still sound as they should no matter where I what I put them through. The Statii work very well too and I love the fact those necks won't move, particularly handy for wedding gigs in marquees where temperatures fluctuate wildly. The difference in sound and tone between the 2000 and Empathy is quite radical too.

The T-Bass is just a great workhorse and is the only bass that keeps up with the GB's in terms of volume and sheer power. Really easy to play although the brass side dots are a nightmare to see in gig lighting conditions. The Kubicki's are great playing basses but don't get the use they deserve as my main gigging band plays a semi-tone down which doesn't go hand in hand with 32" scale basses, the strings just end up too baggy, great basses to play though.

Then the Spector....well it's the latest acquisition and just so easy to get to grips with, great neck, great tone. Still getting used to it but taking it out on a few gigs over the next week or two.

  6. Yup, it's an East Marcus Retro, had it put in about 3 and a half years ago and its great, works great for recording where you need to add mids or take some out and the extra treble boost works wonders, takes it away from being just a Jazz bass. I can recommend checking one out, not to everyones taste but I like it.

  7. Thought it was about time I took new pics of the collection, had to do some for various magazine work and some new ones for insurance purposes so after some requests, here is the current collection.

For anyone remotely interested, the Aria SB-R80 is available for sale should anyone care to make an offer.

    Enjoy!

  8. Send me a PM and I'll send you a link for Axesrus regarding gold control knobs at £2.70 each. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and they work a treat. Excellent company to deal with too, very quick response to emails and quick shipping too.

  9.
Better late than never Mike..... though I knew that night when you played a few of mine that it wouldn't be long... :)
That's because I'd been a fan of the sound and look since that Hall & Oates gig in 1990. I just needed to try out the different variations and models to make my mind up, and frankly your collection beats any shop!

Now if a black, white, red, cherry sunburst or natural gloss finished US NS2 appears and I have the cash to dispose of, heaven help me, although this Euro 4 is seriously doing the business....my proverbial egg has been boiled!

  10.
I think you're supposed to get the bit of the Schaller locks that attach to the strap too. I got them. But that was after trying to convince the guy to throw in some free stuff. He did say that they didn't keep them on the basses because people steal them.

However, I don't think you get them on Rebops. I noticed that Cetera's Rebop 4 (when I was repacking it) that it just has ordinary strap buttons.

I want a LX4 or Rebop, but 2 Spectors within 2 weeks is a little excessive for me :)
No it isn't, get yourself one because these offers won't be around much longer. Can't begin to say how happy I am with my purchase, having waited 18 years to resolve my Spector craving....should have dealt with it long ago. Silly boy!

  11.
nah not in a band at the mo and dont think i will be this year either, my uni course is going to be VERY demanding this year, and i wont have time for much else really. its probably because of my natural dislike of passive basses that makes me not like the olp's sound tbh. but i still cant get enough of the status blue'ray (im trying out different names, its a bit long winded saying the whole title!), id love to have a jam and see how well it performs there, every note is crystal clear, i can imagine it slices through the mix like a hot knife through butter :)
That's exactly how it performs, I used mine doing some shows with Bonnie Tyler a couple of years ago (couple of arenas and large halls) and it just did the business, no woolly notes, even from the low B. Went thru a Mesa Boogie 400+ and an Ampeg 8x10....sure was trouser flappingly lovely!

  12. Does anyone know what's left out there in Reverb land? Pics of the new acquisition once some gold control knobs make their way through my letterbox later in the week.

    She's a beauty!!!
