2.
Gig Sounds is in Streatham!
Close enough!
3. Whilst researching some items for a magazine article , I had cause to contact several shops via telephone today. Even though they had no reason to help me, I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and general level of friendliness and support offered by these shops with information I needed. So it just goes to show that shop owners aren't all miserable buggers and that some will go out of their way to help which is a good sign. Honourable mentions go to Merchant City Music in Glasgow (Hi Ali!), Andertons in Guildford, Gig Sounds in Tooting, Dawsons, Nevada Music in Portsmouth and Musicland Ltd in Bromley. Thank you one and all, much appreciated. Mike
4.
This, to me, is playing in the 'pocket'.. as tight as a gnat's arse!! IMO!!
A super-sized mega-macced +1!!!
5. I'm sure that's not true Mart, I just learnt your bassparts as you played them. Just wanted the band to be happy with who was covering the bass chair without having to worry about having a dep. Cheers, Mike
6. Gary (Cetera) has a full Spector shop......... Mike
7. Just bumping this up as I managed to help a few people out in the run up to Xmas last year regarding last minute deps and bookings. Hope everyone has a busy and lucrative December and New Year. Cheers, Mike
8. Just for the sake of having something to look at, looking thru the pics I have, it's quite eye-opening how the colouring and quilts change in different light. Mike
9. Apparently the abalone kept splitting while he was cutting it..... i actually think there were additional factors as to why it didn't happen but thats neither here nor there. Mike
10. If porn is what you want, do you want new basses or just more pics of the basses we have?
11. I do have LED's but the original plan was to have abalone block inlays to compliment the colouring of the body and headstock and to add a bit of contrast to the fingerboard. Mike
12. I tried to have abalone block inlays in my Rumour 4.........didn't happen. Mike
13. I forgot to mention, they have an Ebay shop which you may save a few quid on if they have what you want in the Ebay shop. If they don't, ring them and they may have the dimensions for the cabs you have. If they don't, give them the dimensions including the hole dimensions for handles, etc and they will make them for you. You can even choose the colour of the piping/edging to match any colour scheme your cabs may have i.e. EBS - blue, Trace - green, Markbass - yellow. Mike
14. Massive +1 for Roqsolid, just bought 2 4x10 covers and a 2x10 cover for around £130 all in, excellent service and great response, I'd heartily recommend them, great people to deal with. Mike
15. My god, the doctor is wrong.......has the world stopped... hell frozen over? Nick, is this a first? Bass in the LIAPW vid is a twin humbucker Empathy....sorry to be pedantic! Not sure if Rob Steen has Al's Matrix, Rob Steen bought a maple Empathy (I know, I was after the same bass!), not sure who Al sold his P/J Matrix too but he didn't have it for long as I recall.....Al, if you're reading, help us out! Mike
16. I've a feeling that bass on The Gallery wall was Alex's ex-Mark King Matrix that he purchased from The Bass Centre in 97 when Mark put loads of basses in for sale. It was a belter of a bass too, splendid sound! Best check with Al for confirmation. Mike
17. Could you not have 2 and 4, a 4 string and a 5 string or a 5 and a fretless? Credit crunch, shmedit crunch...... Mike
18.
Mike still has my pantyhose/leotard combination so if you are reading this Mike, I need them back!!! Mike is a true gent!
Told you before, they've already been passed on to a more willing encumbent. Cheers Martin, pleasure. Catch u soon. Mike
19. You should have a word with Bernie about that, his workshop is far too small but somewhere in or around London with food and drink close at hand would be good. Speak to his lordship, he might even have a few ideas...sorry we seem to be hijacking the thread....nevermind the bass has sold. Well done to the lucky new owner, wise purchase. Mike
20. Likewise! They all come south back to daddy eventually.....
21. Mine won't be......
22. Nope, ordered them from AxesRUS, Born2BeMild wanted the same thing back in August so there is a topic about it, I'm just too lazy to look for the link. AxesRUS are very good by the way, helpful and very quick. Big thumbs up! Mike
23. Thought it was about time I added some pics of the beast I acquired in the Reverb sale 2 months ago....it's not possible to have too much Spector porn anyway.
24. No idea, kind of depends on what you want I guess....you don't want to know how long my Rumour 4 took although that wasn't due to what I wanted. Mike
25. Cool, look forward to it. Mike
