2. As is the album that came after it, "Go On" Mike
3. Just sold a scratchplate to Keir, nice guy and easy to do business with. Big thumbs up from me. Mike
4.
I love depping! I like the challenge of learning all this new stuff at short notice, without all the politics of being "in" the band. Don't wory about the punters, or the full time band members, just concentrate on being better than their usual bass player! :brow:
You obviously don't rely on their bass player for much work then...? Mike
5. Friday morning bump....something for the weekend sir?!?

9. You're all heart....!
10. No, it wasn't a Duran tribute....I would have needed an SB1000 for that, the Kubicki Factor is already in place obviously! Unfortunately, Duran tributes don't sell, nice idea but not financially a go-er. Mike
11. In that case it's a 1983 model. Mike
12. John, you have a PM. Agewise, I don't know if the serial number allows you date them but I remember John Taylor using one for an Italian TV show on the Sing Blue Silver video so that dates the R-80s to early 1984 at least so I would imagine this is an early-mid 80s model. If you can shed some light using the serial number, let me know. Cheers, Mike
13.
That is one fantastis bass - I had a SBR60 til a few months ago and I loved it, only sold it cos I have too many basses Doesnt look in that bad a condition to me at all either and that price it's a steal if all the electrics are working fine. Best of luck BB
Cheers, the electrics are all working fine, bearing in mind this is a passive bass. Everything works as it should. Mike
14. Having bought this for a specific project that didn't get off the ground, it's about time I moved this on, hopefully to someone who can make good use of it. This is an original Aria SB-R80 although the tuners have been changed for a relatively new set of Wilkinsons, this was done before I bought it. The pickup screws were also replaced two years ago as the old ones were knackered and either missing or totally useless. Condition-wise, it's been passed from pillar to post as far as I could ascertain from the guy I bought it from and has the scars to prove it but it plays great for a bass of this age. The action is good and was restrung recently, I did a setup on it about 8 months ago and gave it a good spruce up. I considered having it resprayed a few years ago but those fine chaps at The Gallery advised me not to as Aria collectors like their basses as original as possible. It sustains very well but the Aria Super Basses always did! Looking for £250, gigbag included. Would prefer not to ship this so anyone in the London area is welcome to come and check it out or arrange a meet up in London if that suits. Alternatively, I travel all over the UK for gigs so may be able to meet somewhere convenient. Not looking for trades, just cash. PM me any questions. I have more pics if required and some close ups of the various battlescars. Cheers, Mike
15. I'm loving that Bahama Green one, always a great colour. There are definitely a few rare Kubicki colours, my coral pink Fender was one of 3 when I spoke to Phil in 1993 so I wonder if he ever did any more in that colour. Nice collection though, great stuff! Mike
16. Maybe give some halfwounds/groundwounds a try perhaps, sort of middle ground between rounds and flats. Mike
17. This is fairly green and mean, hadn't seen this thread before but for those who have a love of Trace gear, one of the originals.....
18. PM-ed....again!

Never had a problem with either extension key on my Kubicki's, one is 20 years old, the other 21, maybe yours has been used more. I'm sure Phil has a fix for this if there is a problem, just like he has for most things. Back in the days when the internet was an undiscovered gem to me (92/93) and Newsgroups were the way forward, I contacted Phil as I had a problem with my Fender/Kubicki neck and had read on a newsgroup on The Bottom Line that there were a batch of around 200 Fender Kubickis that were made in 1989 that weren't sealed properly. Lo and behold mine was one of those, rang Phil, he confirmed it, sent the neck off and he overhauled it, new fret job, slimmer neck as per my wishes, turned round in 4-6 weeks. Splendid chap. Mike

Splendid stuff...thank you for obliging! Particularly liking the natural fretless. Recently started using my two Kubickis again and still very pleasing to the ear. Just realised my fretless is 20 years old this year...where have the years gone? Mike
21. Any chance of a pic of the Kubicki collection? Mike
