I have to say that I suspect I might like the HD cabs more than I like my AE's... but I am not saying the AE's are bad cabs, far from it.
I was never a fan of the ae112, I owned a pair from new for around 12 months and couldn't wait to loose them. Too harsh in the high mids not enough low mid punch, quite brittle sounding I thought. The HD cabs by comparison give warmth and detail with quite a sweet top end. Cn212 is like a mixture of the mid forward ae410 and some hd212 muscle, very hard to fault really.
I'm the happy owner of fretmeister's HD112's and they kick like a mule! I'm also the happy owner of a HD212. This has a slightly more crisp tone than a pair of 112s; it's not hugely different in sound to my old 6x10 cab. There's much love in my home for the HD berg cabs (yep that does include the wife and kids). The only problem with the 212 is the fact it contains dark matter; well that's the only reason I can think of that something that size weighs as much as it does. It's not exceptionally heavy, just heavier than you'd expect.
One of the best cabs on the market, I only sold my hd212 was because of the weight, awesome piece of gear!

Best cabinet options for a Genz Benz GBE1200 head
IanA replied to harrybgoode's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'm playing a GBE750 with Barefaced for years now (S12T first and compact now, waiting for the second one). The sound is great and the weight Incredible (for the cabs, the head is really bulk, I don't even imagine how is the 1200). The GBE eq is really powerful so it's easy to get a sound I like. When I want to have a more oldschool sound, I use my Sansamp. I think that with a such great head, any good cabinet will sound at least good, especially if it's not too shy in the lows. A neox 212 should be good, 2 of them would be AWESOME.
Clearly not a fanboy but some one with real world experience of that combination, great contribution -

Best cabinet options for a Genz Benz GBE1200 head
IanA replied to harrybgoode's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've tried a Streamliner through a Schroeder 2x12 which sounded pretty good. Loud as hell too. Nice compact cab for not a lot of dosh, but I don't know how the GBE and Streamliner compare, although I'd expect them to be similar.
Gbe is closer to shuttle than streamliner for tone, quite hifi and balanced set flat. Very nice amp indeed -

There will no doubt be a fanboy along soon to suggest a barefaced cab of some kind despite never having tried one with that amp and having no idea how it would sound! Lol -

Markbass NY122 vs Bergantino CN212 & Vanderkley 212MNT - any experience?
IanA replied to TRBboy's topic in Amps and Cabs
You will find the Vanderkley cabs have quite a flat response and cope well with eq, they sound brighter to my ears than the Cn 212 which is quite big down low(but controlled) and quite present through the mids. The Markbass cabs never sounded that clear to my ears, certainly not as good as their heads! As with any cab it depends on what source you are powering it with and what your tone goals are. -
I have never owned a BF cab so I am not going to spout on about something I know nothing about I think they look nice and I have heard them live and think they sound pretty good but in my honest opinion I do think they are very expensive but if people are buying them they must be worth the money
Look nice?!!! This is a thread about Barefaced cabs
