1.
Ok I'm done. Found it tricky deciding how to approach this month's challenge, but settled on a dreary little number about how people can be deceptive, and how when relationships turn to ruin it spoils the memories associated with them - just like it has done with Savile, a once national hero but now a figure of hate (I used to love Jim'll Fix It as a kid…). It's very much based on a past relationship of my own, in which I had a chunk of years ruined by the discovery that my then betrothed was in fact a cheating swine. I found the only way of moving on was to let those memories fade and die and be happy about doing so (a nod to the Mexican day of the dead festival, where the second photo comes from). 'Twas a long time ago and I've since happily got hitched to Mrs Skol. But I still found it very cathartic to write about. Anyway, enough of that old bollocks… have a listen: http://soundcloud.co...ob/bad-riddance PS: it's mixed solely on headphones, so I'm keen to know how it sounds on your own systems. Most likely either either a tinny wreck or a muddy soup, but hopefully somewhere between the two.
'I didnt have a Scooby how she did it', great line! Like it and like the backing vocal additions, love the manc ring to it. Well put together, nice one!
 2. Had fun doing this and really enjoyed the banter, great competition, great site and great prize. Would personally give a major organ to win the bass but whoever wins will deserve it, the standard has been really good, everyone has been really friendly and there have been some great entries, learned loads as I have never done a song before in its entirety, just done stuff jamming with others, so its been a great but steep learning curve. Good luck to everyone involved, and I really do mean that!
 3.
Ok here's mine. It was FUN! You Can't Touch Me Now (or .. The Day of The Dead Demon Fiddler) http://soundcloud.co...-me-now-the-day
Very Zappa esk, trippy and very well produced and mixed. Nice one!
 4.
Ok! here is my effort. It's been a slog having to do it in small snatches (oo-er). I may possibly remix it if when my ears have settled down tomorrow if i don't like the mix, but might not get time. Its in two parts. It's called Scooby (voo)doo! http://soundcloud.co.../scooby-voo-doo oh yeah it's a couple of seconds over, is this ok?
Very nice mix and I am guessing you have deffo done this before, put together very professionally, this sounds like its been produced by a pro! Nice one, impressed and bowing down to the skill and knowledge involved, well beyond anything i could produce technical wise .
 5. SOLD http://www.gak.co.uk...-amp-head/50706 TC Electronic BH500 Bass Guitar Amp Absolutely mint, with original box and manual, 3 months old never gigged and only used in home and never turned above volume level 1, selling due to upgrade, would consider a trade on right amp rh450 e.t.c. Willl post but prefer collection, paypal or money transfer or cash on collection. Price £280 Paid £350, great amp and great value for money, great reviews, Basically new! The TC Electronic BH500 Bass Guitar Amp Head's feature set leaves little to be desired with its superb tone-shaping tools such as TubeTone, SpectraComp and bass tuned tone controls. The 3 user memories of the TC Electronic BH500 let you change tone at any given time while the integrated tuner allows you to tune up silently before you rock. A conventional compressor is often dominated by the lower string, but with SpectraComp, which is taken directly from the original RH450, you get 'per string' multi-band compression that evens out the compression across all strings. The TubeTone effect of the TC Electronic BH500 was originally introduced on RH450. Most transistor designs try to replicate tube sound using one small preamp tube, but why not take the crucial characteristics of a full preamp and power amp into account? Both are essential to the sound when you want that classic tube warmth as well as when you go for a full-on overdriven rock sound with a massive punch. EQ is always a bass essential, so TC have equipped BH500 with a great sounding, 4-band EQ which is perfect for shaping your fundamental tone. Further, with two contour filters you can scoop the mid-frequencies, which creates an amazing low-end punch on demand. The tweeter control is usually located on the rear side of the cabinet, but on the BH500 you can simply adjust the tweeter level right from the front panel. The sound also gets modified slightly with filters giving you a much more intelligent control over the high frequencies that are critical for giving your sound that razor-sharp edge. For rehearsing or jamming along you can connect your portable music player to the AUX input. If you don’t want to disturb the neighbors, plug in your headphones and the drivers will be muted automatically. Finally, you can send a signal to a sound-engineer via the balanced XLR output or to an audio interface. 6.
Next month we should maybe make it a singing competition. Accapela!
F...k off
 7.
Believe me, it can be even more annoying being able to sing expressively and in tune whithout being able to prevent oneself sounding like a f***ing hollowed out mallard.
Hollowed out Mallard, brilliant! Gotta nick that one
 8.
It has been tough. But there are some natural links between the two pictures, just! I had to do a fair bit of thinking before I started mine, and I've ended up with a story, it's like a tiny instrumental opera Nearly finished though! I also tried putting singing on mine, but I deleted it all, I can sing quite well but my voice sounds like a 12 year old girl's ffs Appropriate to the subject matter, but horrible to hear The entries have been great so far. And I find it fascinating how people interpret the same thing so differently.
Voice wise I have the same problem thats why I talk rather than sing on my track, I sound like some choir boy waiting for his b...ls to drop when I am trying to rock, which sounds really naff! Hence the vocal style

Very nice vocals impressed. Its a gentle version to my bull in a china shop approach to the subject

 12.
I liked it good work!
Like it
 13. Same here just hear it in my head and put bass and drums down and build on it layer by layer, once i have a drums and bass it really opens up as to what i could do with it. If it isnt happening just have a break as suggested and have a go some other time.
 14.
I use these http://www.thomann.d...ux_hd662_f.htm. They're dirt cheap, and the company makes the parts for AKG (you'll notice these look almost identical to a pair of AKGs). They sound strikingly similar to my M-Audio BX5a monitors so work perfectly for me. Top quality and you simply can not argue with the price. Worth a punt for £27.
They arent on the link you posted, any chance of letting me know what they are and where i can get a pair Cheers Thanks for the info guys!
 15.
i'm having great fun with my tiny controller keyboard right now. prepare to hear some weird synth crap done by an incompetent incapacitated oaf.
Cant wait
 16.
^ and cheapy rubbish in ear headphones like 99% of the public use Mind you, you should problem get some cheapy knock off beats headphones from Camden if what I'm seing is right these days
Can anyone recommend a pair that I dont need to re-morgage to buy, but do the job well?
 17.
But i already have Garageband. I'm just learning the ropes on it. I just re-recorded a cover of an RHCP track, and i made 5 tracks for my bass so that it sounds fuller. Basically i lined them up- 1. Centre. 2.Hard right. 3. Hard left. 4. Between centre and hard right. 5. Between centre and hard left. I've used audacity before... didn't really like it. iTunes gives plenty of compression options anyway. and Garageband records in AIF format... and it came pre-installed on my laptop! wow!
You can save and compress in Aif in Audacity as well as Mp3 and loads of other options
 18. Just checked out some stuff i did before on car stereo and you were right, it sounds way off the mark mix wise. Note to self 'check tracks on different speakers and systems' Doh!
 19.
Heh, that last post submitted itself before I'd finished it! I use my BX5as whenever I think I can get away with volume (I share a house with my bro and his misses and it's link detached which is a godsend). I also use a pair of Superlux heaphones which have a very similar response to my BX5as. I'll use my Tannoys as well to hear a hi-fi mix. I'll also use a pair of £18 AKG headphones on my Galaxy S2 (I used to use an iphone before I got that) and will occasionally listen in the car too. Every single speaker shows up something different.
Now were getting technical, I use my Eltax hifi system speakers and headphones, a cheap crappy pair and if it sound OK in those I call it a day. What I often find is you listen to a mix that much and it sounds right and your happy, then next day you have another listen and its way off. That does my head in
 20.
I'm in need of a looper now, anyone have any experience with the Digitech JamMan Stereo? Looks to be the best value for money looper new. Cheers, Marshall.
I have been checking it out and for the money its great, check the Thomann site for lowest price. I only went foor the Boss cos its a dual pedal looper and it was a good deal. Afew Jammans on evilbay at the moment.
