Amp and speaker config advice needed
Stephen Houghton replied to Stephen Houghton's topic in Repairs and Technical
Cheers thanks for replys, I think I may go for these as I am unlikely to be doing mega volume levels anyway, will check resistance as advised Cheers Steve. PS The 410 has a crossover in it, will this effect anything differently? -

I have a TC Electronic BH500 head and want to know can i run two cabs with it, one is a 4 by 60 watt, 240 altogether and the other is a 1 by 15, 300 watt cab. I think these are 8ohm, would this cause me any problems with my amp or cabs? Cheers, need advice from people with experience of these things!

I have a Furch roundback acoustic/electric bass to trade for a bass cab, preferably around 500watt. I bought this for £500 secondhand in 94 (think it was made around 92) and havent used it much at all, its a really nice sounding acoustic and not tinny sounding like a lot of acoustic basses are, everyone who has played this loves the tone. Check out this link http://www.furch.cz/?stranka=story I bought it from Denmark street in London, this is a very collectable guitar which was one of the early original Furch models. Furch are a quality guitar manufacturer and are really big around europe, read the history page in the link, rated as quality similar to Martin acoustics e.t.c. but for much cheaper. It in great condition except for the laquer on the fron has started to crack, just cosmetic and easily repairable, plays nice for an acoustic bass, great sound amped up or not. I have a TC Electronic BH500 head and need a cab to go with it, any offers considered, I am in Wigan in nthe North of England, will courier the bass to the right person if the swop is good, expect the same in return, bass has a hard case, but its not the original, there was no case when i bought it. Welcome to come and try if you live near, this has got to be worth £400 pound as its so rare and is a very collectable bass. Check out the link for full info on Furch as most people have never heard of them, but they are great instruments. PM me with any offers Cheers! Just bought a MM Stingray 5 and wouldnt part with it for the world, awesome bass. Cant believe the tones you get just with the EQ on the bass itself, does wheigh a lot, its like carrying a log at times but worth the effort, plus you get fit as well What did you get in the end?

Right, may have something to do with I played it for donkeys years so it feels like an extra arm to me, but does play well and the Fenders I have played (I wait for the hail of abuse) I really dont like. Just my personal, I have played a few over the years but just dont like the feel, sorry guys My Musicman wipes the floor with anything else I have ever touched.

Thanks for the advice and info from everyone, i will keep it as it was the first bass i owned and couldnt let it go for peanuts. Just bought a EB musicman stingray 5 and thought i may sell to help fund the purchase, think i would regret it later though. Cheers

One of the best ways to develop a good core strength is the plank, looks simple but isnt easy to do correctly. Any shake while doing it STOP! this is a sign you are weak in the core and need to build up slowly. Try starting with this and when you can do 45 seconds with no wobble then incorporate side plank, do twice a day for a month before moving on. Unless you already have a good core, then you wont really have back problems unless you have other problems injury e.t.c.
The previous posters are not being 'smartarses', they're just letting you know that they are unable to make the image larger as it gives an error message. I've been trying to find out about these Maya/el Maya basses, and you're right, there's not much info out there. It seems that the El Maya are a more premium line than the Maya, but neither is particularly valuable. A good condition mid 70s el Maya bass failed to sell on EBay recently at a starting bid of £350. I've heard they are quite good, but unfortunately that does not always translate to £££. Like Luke says, It's a little known brand, and for that sort of money, people could buy a nice Jap Fender, with no risk of depreciation. The reason I'm looking at these is that I'm after a cheap backup bass, and my daughter is called Maya, and would love her name on a bass! Please PM me if you're selling for a sensible price. Edit - actually scratch that, I've just noticed the gold hardware, which is not my bag. Also the neck-through is a bit of a turn off for me. Good luck though :-)
Thanks for the information its appreciated.

Check out Furch here, with a detailed history. They seem to be really rated as far as i can find out. http://furch.cz/?stranka=home Also no offence meant with Smartarses comment i was joking, see smileys. Pics are coming up fine on my computer if you click on the images they enlarge. I thought the "embiggen" comment was sarcasm, google embiggen for meaning and you will see what i mean. It means simply, to exagerate APPOLOGIES
