Jack socket wiring question
samuelcroberts replied to samuelcroberts's topic in Repairs and Technical
@PaulThePlug Just to say thanks again - went to replace the jack this morning and noticed the serrated washer had started to eat through the foil, which was definitely causing the intermittent issue. Added the extra ground without changing the socket and that fixed the issue. Who knew! Thanks for your help! -

Jack socket wiring question
samuelcroberts replied to samuelcroberts's topic in Repairs and Technical
@PaulThePlug Cheers mate - that's really helpful! Is there any danger of creating a ground loop if I add an extra earth link to one of the pots? Presuming not, as it's a completely passive circuit, but just curious. -
Hi All, I was going to replace the output jack on my Moollon P-Classic due to an intermittent issue (wear and tear), but noticed there was only one wire connection to the socket with no ground directly from the jack socket itself (see photo). The bass has no ground issues at all, so I'm presuming that the ground is supplied by the metal tape stuck to the underside of the pickguard or something, which you can see in the pic. Can someone who knows more than me confirm that I don't need to add an extra ground connection when replacing the socket? Presuming it's fine, as this is how it was wired direct from Moollon, but I am an extremely amateur electronics person who just happens to be decent at soldering... Many thanks in advance!

Hi Guys, I have a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2 head that I've used for ages. Has been a backup for a while now, but plugged it in the other day and something is awry... Basically a very loud white noise/hiss is constantly present when on, even when the input is muted, so definitely something going on in the amp. Gets louder if you turn up the master. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is it worth fixing and, if so, does anyone have any amp tech recommendations in the Birmingham area? Cheers! Sam

Moog Grandmother Semi-Modular Analog Synthesizer for sale. This is a great semi-modular analogue mono synth, steeped in classic Moog flavour. One of the last few products designed and made by Moog before they sold out and gave up on the employee owned business model... I've had this for a while, but just hasn't seen any use for the past year or so, so listing for sale as the funds would be useful elsewhere. it has a couple of very minor cosmetic marks from use (mainly on the bottom) but is in perfect working order - no issues whatsoever. Capable of big fat synth bass, scorching leads and other complete insanity as well. I do not have the original box, so collection is prefered. If someone wants this shipped and is willing to pay for the postage, please just ask and I will look into costs and boxes etc.. Looking for £650ono for this. Comes with a custom vinyl dust cover (£35 new), a good few short, medium and long patch cables (with little cable holder thing pictured - fireplace not inlcuded...) and I also have the printed manual. Also pictured is a K&M mixer stand which I have used for the Grandmother for a while. These are £125+ new and the £650 listing DOES NOT include the stand. If you would like this stand as well, I'm happy to throw it in for an additional £80. I do have other uses in mind for the stand, however, so no obligation to buy this. If you have any questions, let me know. Open to offers, but no trades please. I'm based in Smethwick/Birmingham for collection. Thanks for looking! From the Moog site: Grandmother is a semi-modular analog synthesizer with a built-in arpeggiator, sequencer and spring reverb tank. Start playing immediately with “no patching required”, and then explore an infinite sonic playground with Grandmother’s reconfigurable front panel. Grandmother’s circuits, spring reverb, and spirit are inspired by the classic Moog Modular Synthesizers, making this instrument a powerful addition to a Mother-32, DFAM or any Eurorack modular system.

Cheers guys. Yes, the Xotic basses are really lovely. Only reason I'm selling really is due to not really using the 5-string much anymore and not quite gelling with it etc.. I seem to be the sort of person that either keeps something forever, or sells it on within 18 months! Haha! Stephen - your 4-string Xotic is really nice as well. GLWTS on that! -
