1. I have every sympathy for the teenage bedroom thwacker for I was one of them. I understand the magnetic attraction of chugging away with 3 winds of electricians tape on the thumb. But that was 1987, and this is now…
This place is a treasure trove of euphemisms.
2. Want to avoid UPS and the like. Any recommendations for shipping a bass (in hardcase in quite a large box with padding inside) to Holland? Need it be reliable and insurable. I'm based in Kent. Cheers! Nick
3. I love it when Me'Shell and Prince do it…buuuuut ...thwacking 16ths in your bedroom in Em on youtube ain't so cool in my book

6. Gallup is great and Smith is a fantastic guitarist…love The Cure
7. Amp is not the key element in his sound as he probably went straight in to the board, but an Ampeg SVT and 810 was his standard live rig I gather. The voice of the 'Ray is very dominant...
8. Stingray classic (2 band) with dead nickel round wounds or flats. Thump city...
9. Prescription reads thomastik jazz flats…
10. Heads up - a mere 11 quid for the kindle edition! Downloaded...
11. Neck profiles on new 'Rays are really uncomfortable. My tried and tested solution is this. Buy a second hand Stingray Classic….check the weight first (make sure it's not too heavy. i favour 9lbs or under)…the necks feel great and I say that as a huge fan of skinny jazz and Ric necks. Here's one which has no affiliation with me…for under 1100 quid. http://www.thebassga...e=Bass%20Guitar
12. i think this was sold by his daughter about five years ago on ebay. If memory serves it went for about 900 quid. Sad story. The guy was an incredible musician but the booze got him...
13. Ahhh, they broke the mould with Mick Karn. A genius...
14. Live tone on Exit Stage Left does it for me…***Rickenbacker***
15. Moment of insanity passed!
16. Thanks for the suggestions. Rogue could be the ticket. Will be interesting to see how terminal fairs at it's new location too...
17. not far from where we are at the moment...will def check it out!
18. There's stuff on the net about them shutting down. Did they just move?
19. Getting wound up by the lack of availability of space at my usual rehearsal space in Deptford so my band is in need of another option in SE London. Near public transport. Doesn't need to be cheap. Good PA is essential and would prefer it doesn't smell of cheese Any recommendations? Rogue any good for example?
20. Stingray for me. Classic with a 2 band to be exact. 3 band doesn't appeal to my ears, but the 2 band on my classic is just amazing. It also sits very well in the mix. The low mids are incredible. P basses are cool, clearly, but the Ray does it for me in spades.
