I had the bigger version of this amp when I was a kid. I used to do feedback solos with the bass pressed up against the grille and everything up on full. It sounded like a 747 taking off! Ahhh what fun -
And just to add - if you have a smaller/lower powered head like an LMII or similar up for trade (with cash from me), that could work too

Going to withdraw this amp and work on swapping out my cab for some thing a bit less mid-voiced than the Aguilar DB112 I currently have. I will leave the pics up though as it's gawjus...

Ah it looks fantastic...such great basses. As a Bass Centre lurker around 86/87 I would have picked one of these up over going anywhere near a Wal. So playable and punchy. -
@Rib13Bass ha ha - very close timescale to me 1994 - first 3 band Ray 2012 - Classic 2 band Ray 2019 to present - late 80s 2 bands And probably about 10 J-basses peppered around that lot...

My second bass when touring was a 74 jazz bass. I only ever brought it out when the Stingray needed work and it had no thump in comparison. I love a jazz bass but have a hard time getting them to work....or, to be specific, get them to flap my trousers like a Stingray!

Yep, the trans is definitely alder. Very warm and punchy. It has a converted ebony board with lines which matches very well with the whole package. Not sure about the black - could be poplar, could be ash. But yes, a full sounding 2 band with a great aggressive sound but not ear splitting highs (though that could be the 2 band). I toured and recorded with a black/maple 1994 back in the day. That had a three band and was a clicky mess a lot of the time. I only ever fully embraced the Stingray again when I picked up a classic with a 2 band and found it much more of an appealing sound for what I like to do. The necks on those two '89s are slimmer than the 1994; extremely playable, almost jazz like but with a tad more heft. Both pretty light too. I found the '94 neck a completely different ball game. Sharp edges and tubby...was not great!

Up for sale is my as new/ shop fresh 2022 German-made Hofner Club. The Club has the well known woody thump we all know and love all in a short scale package and a larger single cut body shape vs the more ubiquitous violin bass. I'm making a move away from an old school sounding rig and tweaking my gear to something a bit more hifi. Anyone fancy trading/part-exing a high quality 4x10/ 2x10 cab (Berg/Aguilar/Glockenklang etc ) for this ungigged DB112? Handover only so would have to be around the M25 or down in the SE.

Anyone have a recommend for a good amp tech who is familiar with older (80s) Trace Elliot amps in Kent/Sussex? I'm on the lookout for someone to give my old TE amp a once over and brush up. Cheers! Nick
