  1. Exactly this, nailed it. What a stupid thread.
  2. Can work brilliantly. I did it for years in the last band. There’s a huuuge thread on the subject:
  3. I bought a Sadowsky MV5, Japanese one that was superbly built - as they all are/were, but after the initial excitement of having a Sadowsky subsided, on gigging it, it just wasn’t for me. I bought a Sire V7 as backup and preferred mostly everything about it. So while I agree the Sadowsky was objectively “better”, I didn’t prefer it and it wasn’t a better gigging tool, for me. These “what’s better” threads are a great way to build a shortlist of stuff to try - but if you’re like I was at the time and just trying things on a whim based on internet praise and appreciation, it may not be a keeper, even though it is the “best”.
  4. Grabbed this from Facebook for less than the cost of 3 pints! Surprised to see it’s from July 97 - it’s in great nick and sounds wonderful.
  5. Cool 🙂 be nice to see a passive 5 string P bass, please.
  6. Yep, one at BassBros, which has some fairly distinctive marks - so worth a look. Do you have a record of the serial number?

    Mark Bass hate

I’ve had lots of their products, like many here. Only ever a LM2/3 and Ninja head, but multiple variations on the 122, 112, 102 cabs and have had great experiences of them all. The piezo is annoying playing at home, but I’ve never struggled for top end. I’ve always liked the sound of them and never had to work at it or add EQ pedals or ext preamps. Perhaps a bit marmite, but if you like, you like.
  8. Yes, Fender flats definitely have green silks. Made by D’addario, maybe. I really like ‘em.
  9. SVT-CL, in the lead because it’s just right. Then there’s loads that do a great job, but I’d tip my hat to Markbass, prob the LM3, as IME, it’s super reliable and sounds great for every gig. Then, the Fender Rumble, as above.
  10. Shame that shell pink is reserved for the 4’s.
  11. This used to be my bass before it was Ian’s. As he’s already said, it was fantastic. Seeing that picture fills me with regret at selling! This was an Am Pro I. A few months ago I bought an Am Pro 2 to fill that gap and it fell well short. I love Fender and bought the Pro I blind, and it couldn’t have turned out any better. But the II was terrible. I have no idea how it got past QC. So I would suggest, as with all mass produced basses, from all non-specialist retailers, try a few and buy the best. That black Pro I, I would put against any bass I’ve owned. The look, feel, sound, low B, top to bottom it was just class.
  12. Price includes postage. Great pedal, as new condition, just have figured that it makes sense for me to go back to a multi like the Stomp, rather than build a new board.
  13. The combo is ace. Let us know how it goes for you, but I found it plenty as a standalone. Kept up with drums, projected well and sounded great. Sure, it’s a super 4x10, but the combo alone is very capable.
  14. Ace, great write up. Frightening warm up act to follow there! Wow. Also, Yampeg. Dunno why I’ve not heard that previously, but it’s a part of my vocab now. Would love to try one of these rigs, I play that same Yamaha bass (well, the 5) and love what they’re producing right now.
  15. The 210 cab is about 4kg heavier owing to the ceramic magnets, but I actually find it an easier carry as the inset side handles are solid.
  16. Same for me 😂🤦🏻‍♂️ The combo is very capable, the weight/tone/power made it a clear winner.
  17. I’m pleased with mine too Lozz, just a really solid bass amp aren’t they. Very easy to get a good sound out of. I just added the Rumble 210, for no other reason than I thought it’d be fun. The combo is plenty loud enough, mind you and really punches beyond its 13kg!
  18. Same for me with the 735 vs P35. The 7 was cool, looked and felt great, but I just didn’t love it, unlike the passive P35. I’m now on the hunt for an older 415/425/1025 too! I’d bite your hand off for that vintage white 1025 now 😂
  19. Hmm, tempting. I’ve recently acquired an MXR EF and love it. Will ponder this, please don’t hesitate should a buyer come forward though!
  20. Thanks for that, good to hear. Will also keep an eye out for one on here I think and try it out! Nothing to lose if you can get one for £50! I do like the TC minis anyway and have had a good experience of them so far.
  21. I’d highly recommend the Rumble 210 cab. It’s actually great. I bought one as an extension to my R800 combo, and yeah, it’s a genuinely solid cab. Great build and look, excellent handles, decent tweeter and deep, loud and clear. Good with a low B, good with effects. I got mine about a month ago and there weren’t any more available in Europe for a while. Though, there’s a couple on here for £250ish, which if you’re local too, I’d suggest can’t be beaten for that money.
  22. Interested to see you mention floor noise @ped, I’ve had many compressors too, and this always bugged me. I was going to try an M87 or Spectracomp next, both of which have very mixed reviews on the subject.
  23. Wow, what a looker. Fantastic upgrade with the preamp and bonus active/passive switch too!
  24. Fantastic looking thing!
