  1. The dial is for the horn. I had one of these cabs. It's a beast. I didn't ever have to push it either. Really, really powerful 2x12. Beautifully put together and finished as well.
  2. I'm not 100% on which of his posts triggered it. I think it was to do with a post where he questioned why people post pictures of their basses? Most of his posts seemed to spark an argument.

Nope. Need to swap that 4ohm cab for another 8ohm if you want to use two together.

That's interesting. Which Tone print are you using? I've still not picked a Spectracomp up, as I've been contemplating other units. But, at the price that are, I've decided to get one, regardless.

I'm pretty sure it was a bad one. It wasn't even just noise with heavy compression. It was just a noisy pedal. I'm tempted to give another a try though. They get rave reviews and reading Onvilabs, it seems there was a bad batch.

    Spectracomp

Could do. From what's been said, it seems that some tone prints are much noisier than others too.

Cheers for that info. From what I've read, that seems a fairly common thing with it. Despite being the cheaper option and only having the one dial, it actually seems like it could be the most versatile option. If you don't like it, you move on to the next Tone Print, or delve into the editor... Right? Would you mind sharing which patch(es) you settled on after that test? 😁

Ah, I had a bad experience of the M87, it added so much noise, even on its own when barely ticking over. I'm sure mine was just a dud (I know there were a few). So I'm reluctant to try another, but maybe I should. Honestly, of the compressors I've owned, the only one which really changed the tone much was the Diamond. I like the sound of my stuff as is, so I'm not too fussed about that. Seems like the TC could do a bit of both, but a usable, quiet compressor is first and foremost. If it tightens/brightens, then that's cool too. I guess, with the TC you get a bunch of options and tone prints. I'm really liking my other TC pedals, the Sub n Up is the coolest octave pedal I've had.

Thanks for the feedback all. Really, I've wanted to give the Cali76 a try for a while, but I've been so impressed with the TC mini pedals I've acquired recently, that I feel I owe the Spectracomp a chance. Plus, it's a 3rd the price... And Nathan East has a tone print 😁

Because they're aren't enough compressor threads on BC... I'm after a new compressor, nothing too extreme, just a general always-on, 4:1 or thereabouts. I've had in the past: a Markbass Compressore, which was great, but too big and too power hungry. Keeley Bassist, which was good as a limiter but, but otherwise not really for me. An MXR M87, which was returned as it was SO noisy. A Diamond, which was great, at what it did tone wise, but I wanted a bit more. Now, I'm either about to go all out for a Cali76 Compact Bass or give the Spectracomp a go. Spectracomp is obviously cheap, and I have some TC pedals which I like. But, low floor noise is important and I know the TC might take some tweaking to get the balance right. How are Spectracomp users finding the level of noise with mild(ish) settings? Anyone own both?!
  11. The one that stands out is a 1962 Jazz. Frightening amount of money's worth. But felt very special to hold.
  12. Wow. Wouldn't retailer 1 have to send it back to Musicman?
  13. I think I read once that there is a copy in the vault! I've covered it before, sure I just played roots with the kick!
  14. I do miss that amp. But, it took more work to get it to do what I wanted, compared to the Markbass stuff. Markbass just works for me. It's not as beautiful or solid as the Glock, but I plug in and it sounds good whoever the room or band setup.

    rack tuners

It works for me Kev. Haven't used a pedal tuner for a few years. My bass's tuning is pretty solid, so it's never far out. But I've not had a single problem. Sometimes the low B is easier to do by the harmonic.
  16. Is it? You've seen the topics about Bass Direct? Or read their reviews on Facebook?
  17. The problem is, people get so upset over this sort of thing. Without much context, or the other side of the story. Not suggesting for a second the poster here isn't telling the full story, just that, if you make a thread to record every interaction a person got their feelings hurt, then there's not going to be many places left to shop. Why not just make your own mind up without any preconceived notions? For what it's worth, I love Guitar Village and had great service there.
  18. I saw this on FB too! Looks ace. Must've been one of the last of the old shape? New spec tuners on the old shape body is a good find!
  19. Facebook? Must be loads of musician pages for Merseyside.
  20. Do you have a 735a? I got chance to give one a good go yesterday. I liked it quite a bit! Hmmm... Might have to give this a bit more thought!
  21. I think that's it. I'd be surprised if there is any difference in build quality, Roger simply wouldn't allow it to be sold under his name. The frets will be perfect 99% of the time. It will sound exactly the same. I think you're right, it's the romanticism of being hand build by a small team, headed by a guitar who relocated for a year to study Roger's work in preparation.
  22. True. Specs and dimensions are similar. The BBP35 did have something special... Whether that's the MIJ goodness, who knows? Maybe the 7 series would feel just as good. It's usually the case that twice the money doesn't equal twice the bass! Hey, I'm selling a Sadowsky because I end up gigging a Sire 3 times a week! Anyone got a 735a?
  23. I didn't unfortunately, but I believe they are very similar? Plus, the matte black looks the bees knees!
  24. Yep, I think so. My Sadowsky goes to it's new home this Saturday. Which leaves me with only a Sire V7 5er. The Sire is wonderful, and covers my J5 needs. The BBP35 was nicer than I expected and offered far more. I found it really comfortable to play. I'm always on the look out for nice Sandbergs 5s as I regret moving my old one on, but the Yamaha definitely had something about it. Great prices too, given what the 2025 cost.
  25. 😍 Wow. That looks great! I got to play a BBP35 a few days ago, reeeaaally liked it.
