1. I was thinking about this recently. I would like a 6 to add a high B... ex guitarist here too!
2. Thomann had a black model in stock yesterday for an incredible price. Today it has gone... own up, who snapped it up?
3.
Dave Swift???
Gets my vote too.
4.
Talk me out of it.
Sorry mate, can't. Im destined for an L5 too. It makes perfect sense. It would cost at least 50% more from any other manufacturer too.
5.
I can't comprehend the old "I can't afford it" wail though.
What's not to understand?
6. Yikes. TH 500 is £751 from a few UK retailers. It is available for less elsewhere. Mine was £500 not too much more than a year ago.
7. Also done, also intrigued!
8. We've been asked once, in hundreds of gigs. It was at an English Heritage site, probably one of the grandest houses in the country. The sockets are all under the floorboards, to keep them out of sight, only; having been recently refurbished, the workman had nailed the removable panels from the floorboards down. So we had to daisy chain extension leads from an outside power source in the belting rain. It wasn't too exposed, just, very frustrating given how fussy they were and given the list of rules we had to adhere to that something this simple wasn't checked.
9. I use the Korg too. Haven't gigged with my TU-2 for over a year now. Im curious to try the TC though. No massive complaints about the Korg. It can occasionally struggle on the low B and does rattle sometimes on the headstock. But, like I said, haven't used my TU-2 in ages so that's a big plus for it.
10. Cool. Love my VM5, yours has the newer tunings pegs too.
11. Tanglewood Nashville TNSF-CE electro acoustic, with hardcase. Really nice sounding guitar. Brand new. On the Isle of Wight. Can deliver to Lymington, Southampton or Portsmouth for £10. Will not post this one though. It does come with a lovely case, but nice as it is, I wouldn't ship an acoustic in less than a flight case
12. I didn't realise there was a new model. So I'll follow this thread with interest; if the Internet Police permit me to do so.
13. I'd say get whatever you have a hankering for the most. I turn a certain age in May and want to get something a bit special. I have a Sandberg 5 too. I'm thinking Maruszcyk 5 string next as they look great and I already know I really like Delano pickups and the Glock 2EQ. If you use a 5 now I'd stick with a 5, unless you don't use the B.
14.
There are no upsides or downsides. . . . only preferences and choices. Try several. If you like one. . . . get it.
The truth.
15.
I think we are just lucky to have two such great bass builders to choose from!
Very well said. This might be slightly off topic, but, how does the Maruszczyk compare to your Sandberg in terms of build quality? I have a VM5 Supreme which I love. Going to order myself an Elwood 5L as a 30th birthday present. I don't doubt that it will be as good as the Sandberg, but thought I'd ask! Thanks.
16.
Hey Carl Good of you to take the time to join the forum and respond in person. Suggests that you do, in fact, care.. Personally if I was in the OP's position I'd like something to appease me for the trouble/ poor service and to encourage me to continue to shop locally - i.e. your store. Why not offer him (and any other BC member) a generous reduction to entice us into your store?? Remember reputation is everything. What better way to boost your reputation that to be valued by the most popular bass players' site in Europe? Perfect opportunity to get a ton of free advertising..
I honestly can't tell if you're being serious?
17. Wish I could take it off your hands. This one is stunning!
18. Is this why some places have Deluxe models comparatively cheap? You can get them for less than a US Standard.
19.
There's these, too, of course ... Wooden Stomp Box ...
We use one of these with a Cajon and a couple of percussion bits here and there for toned down gigs. It's great and gives the drummers hands a break from the Cajon when needs be!
20.
Just in time.... http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Dingwall_NG2.html
There's no way I'd play a bass that colour in my wedding band!
21. Ibanez would be my choice. Great basses. Light, versatile, nice to play and sound great.
22. Glad to hear this as I'll be getting one of these shortly. I'm leaning towards one of the L models. This one looks great too.
23. Just another +1 to using them with a 5 string. In fact I think Tommy says as much on the website. I think the fact they have a tight low end and aren't overly bassy and boomy helps in this regard. Edited to say I'm talking about a s112 stack.
24. Maplin have, or had, them. I got mine a year or so back.
25.
On the 2-band the bass is boost only, the treble is cut and boost.
This why my understanding too. Why can't Musicman make it common knowledge? I did have a 2eq years ago and it was great. One of the best playing basses I've had.
