2.
I think we are just lucky to have two such great bass builders to choose from!
Very well said. This might be slightly off topic, but, how does the Maruszczyk compare to your Sandberg in terms of build quality? I have a VM5 Supreme which I love. Going to order myself an Elwood 5L as a 30th birthday present. I don't doubt that it will be as good as the Sandberg, but thought I'd ask! Thanks.
3.
Hey Carl Good of you to take the time to join the forum and respond in person. Suggests that you do, in fact, care.. Personally if I was in the OP's position I'd like something to appease me for the trouble/ poor service and to encourage me to continue to shop locally - i.e. your store. Why not offer him (and any other BC member) a generous reduction to entice us into your store?? Remember reputation is everything. What better way to boost your reputation that to be valued by the most popular bass players' site in Europe? Perfect opportunity to get a ton of free advertising..
I honestly can't tell if you're being serious?
4. Is this why some places have Deluxe models comparatively cheap? You can get them for less than a US Standard.
5.
There's these, too, of course ... Wooden Stomp Box ...
We use one of these with a Cajon and a couple of percussion bits here and there for toned down gigs. It's great and gives the drummers hands a break from the Cajon when needs be!
6.
Just in time.... http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Dingwall_NG2.html
There's no way I'd play a bass that colour in my wedding band!
7. Ibanez would be my choice. Great basses. Light, versatile, nice to play and sound great.
8. Glad to hear this as I'll be getting one of these shortly. I'm leaning towards one of the L models. This one looks great too.
9. Just another +1 to using them with a 5 string. In fact I think Tommy says as much on the website. I think the fact they have a tight low end and aren't overly bassy and boomy helps in this regard. Edited to say I'm talking about a s112 stack.
10. Maplin have, or had, them. I got mine a year or so back.
11.
On the 2-band the bass is boost only, the treble is cut and boost.
This why my understanding too. Why can't Musicman make it common knowledge? I did have a 2eq years ago and it was great. One of the best playing basses I've had.
12. Strange that they've decided to go in this direction now. They're quite ugly but i'm sure they will be very good though.
13.
We discussed mate's rates as a band and the best that might be achieved is if the mate in the band waived his fee.
That's how we always do it too. I saw a thing on Facebook the other day about band pricing; it went something like 'ask four plumbers what they'd charge to work between 7pm and midnight on Saturday, whatever they quote, my band will charge a half of...' Pubs are always cheaper than one off private dos, as mentioned, no lights, ironed shirts or shined shoes, 2 x 45s and for us, on the understanding that we get a fairly regular gig at that venue.
14. Fusion. Expensive, but worth it.
15. Yeah, one for flats, one for rounds. It's pretty much the law.
16. Punchy with not too much extended bass is what I look for too. You'll love them at gig volume, I'm sure.
17.
I picked up one of these together with a TKS 212 from Bass Gear just after Christmas. I had a chance to A/B the head with a Tonehammer 500 through both one of the super ATS 212's and the TKS. Maybe it's the slightly larger output of the Mesa, but it sounded far more "alive" and the Deep switch has to be heard to be believed I had a Mesa Prodigy Four:88 previously and it was one of the best sounding heads I've owned. This one comes very close indeed at a far lighter weight
Nice one mate, looks like a good match. How are they standing up on a gig?
18. One bass, 50 odd gigs last year and slightly more this year. Just my Sandberg VM5 Supreme. Though a second bass will be ordered this year.
19. An 8x10 would be overkill! Haha. However, you would have more choice when recording, given that one driver always sounds better than the rest when mic'd... If it were me, I'd be all over this: http://greatbritishbasslounge.com/product/ashdown-abm-c210h-neo-evo3/ Crazy good price!!
20.
Final words on this: Taking any problems you have with a manufacturer to forums or social media instead of solving it with that manufacturer says more about you as a person then it does about that manufacturer. Ugh.
That's the power of social media, unfortunately, in some cases; and in no way says more about the OP than Warwick. I think the OP has been wholly fair tbh. How would you propse the issue was resolved with Warwick? Given that the work gas been completed by a very highly regarded man at a fraction of the cost? The fact that Warwick would write off the repair cost if another expensive bass was ordered shows how preposterous this really is.
21. GBBL had the first in the UK, can't even be a month ago; so I don't think you'll be seeing second hand ones for a while! They look mega though I love my Sandberg.
22. All I can suggest is; find a teacher, a good, very good teacher! Different people find different things hard so try not to beat yourself up over it. Most of the greatest rock musicians wouldn't be able to tell you what key they were in! A good teacher will help to break it down in an understandable way. Most people have the capacity to learn difficult stuff, its just breaking down the barrier and finding a way in which it makes sense to you. Edited to say, sorry if that doesn't sound helpful, but there is probably no point trying to explain how it stuck for me as we all learn differently. It sounds like a proper, qualified and experienced teacher could help you far more, in a few hours, than anything else.
23. Crumbs, two people have bid and are willing to pay money for that.
