Strange that they've decided to go in this direction now. They're quite ugly but i'm sure they will be very good though.
We discussed mate's rates as a band and the best that might be achieved is if the mate in the band waived his fee.
That's how we always do it too. I saw a thing on Facebook the other day about band pricing; it went something like 'ask four plumbers what they'd charge to work between 7pm and midnight on Saturday, whatever they quote, my band will charge a half of...' Pubs are always cheaper than one off private dos, as mentioned, no lights, ironed shirts or shined shoes, 2 x 45s and for us, on the understanding that we get a fairly regular gig at that venue.

Fusion. Expensive, but worth it.

Precisions - How do you justify having two (or more!)?
M@23 replied to jbasst's topic in Bass Guitars
Yeah, one for flats, one for rounds. It's pretty much the law. -
Punchy with not too much extended bass is what I look for too. You'll love them at gig volume, I'm sure.
I picked up one of these together with a TKS 212 from Bass Gear just after Christmas. I had a chance to A/B the head with a Tonehammer 500 through both one of the super ATS 212's and the TKS. Maybe it's the slightly larger output of the Mesa, but it sounded far more "alive" and the Deep switch has to be heard to be believed I had a Mesa Prodigy Four:88 previously and it was one of the best sounding heads I've owned. This one comes very close indeed at a far lighter weight
Nice one mate, looks like a good match. How are they standing up on a gig?

Gigging bassists... how many basses do you own?
M@23 replied to The-Ox's topic in General Discussion
One bass, 50 odd gigs last year and slightly more this year. Just my Sandberg VM5 Supreme. Though a second bass will be ordered this year. -
Prefect recording amp, not for gigging, pure warm sound!!
M@23 replied to zawinul's topic in Amps and Cabs
An 8x10 would be overkill! Haha. However, you would have more choice when recording, given that one driver always sounds better than the rest when mic'd... If it were me, I'd be all over this: http://greatbritishbasslounge.com/product/ashdown-abm-c210h-neo-evo3/ Crazy good price!! -
Final words on this: Taking any problems you have with a manufacturer to forums or social media instead of solving it with that manufacturer says more about you as a person then it does about that manufacturer. Ugh.
That's the power of social media, unfortunately, in some cases; and in no way says more about the OP than Warwick. I think the OP has been wholly fair tbh. How would you propse the issue was resolved with Warwick? Given that the work gas been completed by a very highly regarded man at a fraction of the cost? The fact that Warwick would write off the repair cost if another expensive bass was ordered shows how preposterous this really is.

GBBL had the first in the UK, can't even be a month ago; so I don't think you'll be seeing second hand ones for a while! They look mega though I love my Sandberg.

All I can suggest is; find a teacher, a good, very good teacher! Different people find different things hard so try not to beat yourself up over it. Most of the greatest rock musicians wouldn't be able to tell you what key they were in! A good teacher will help to break it down in an understandable way. Most people have the capacity to learn difficult stuff, its just breaking down the barrier and finding a way in which it makes sense to you. Edited to say, sorry if that doesn't sound helpful, but there is probably no point trying to explain how it stuck for me as we all learn differently. It sounds like a proper, qualified and experienced teacher could help you far more, in a few hours, than anything else.

Crumbs, two people have bid and are willing to pay money for that.
-
That's kinda cool. I might be warming to singlecuts...
-
Oh, that's a massive shame. Not knowing much about them, is that likely to be the end or will they continue without this chap?
-
Before reading your post and going off thread title alone, the Berg CN212 is the one that jumps to mind for me. There are a couple of very keenly priced 2nd handers about too.

Lovely bass. Hope your brother is alright and they get it sorted soon.

Master Blaster, one of my favourite songs and great bass throughout. I've just learnt Play That Funky Music and Disco Inferno for a NYE gig, I don't like either song much, but both have good grooves.
-
No experience of them, but keen to try. I have mk1 VM5 Supreme, which is mega and I think it was pretty much the last available new one. I do like the look of the newer ones though.

Definitely, if you're happy then that's it. Unless you really know what you're looking at, choosing things based off of the spec sheet could be a bit risky. Not talking bass gear necessarily. When I worked in Jessops 9 out of 10 people wanted the camera with the most megapixels for their cash - that's literally all that mattered. We probably lost sales by trying to suggest that wasn't even half the story and not always the best way to go about it. Not saying that happens with music gear as commonly, just that marketing people are clever at what they do! Great if you can read a spec sheet and know straight away what will and won't work for you but most people probably cannot.
-
Give the sales forums a search and see how much they usually go for. Cool amps, I wouldn't mind one myself!

My old guitar tutor had a Yamaha electric guitar with a proper built in tuner and 7 segment display. Ugly as sin! Can't imagine it would be that handy on a gig either as it is on the front on the body.
I wonder if we've all got a bit caught up in the hunt for the perfect flat response / hi-fi / super sensitive / massive handling etc. cab over recent years, and forgotten that - for a lot of us at least - a nice driver in a good, well designed & built box gives us the classic bass sound we've got in our heads after all. That's what happened to me, anyway...!
This is true for me and what my response to the above question would have been. I've had other cabs that proclaim to be louder and 'hi-fi' or modern and whatever else and a lot of them sounded sterile and boring in the mix. The tks may not be cutting edge technology, but i'm glad of that. They are beautifully built and make my bass sound like I believe it should. No massive sub bass and no shrill clangy highs. How lucky we are to have such a choice to suit all tastes.

Glad it is working out! It's a beautiful bass.
PJB Compact 4. That is all.
Good call. I think I'm going to sell my Double 4 and get one of these.
