1. I asked this question to the team at Fusion, I ended up paying the extra for the Urban. Have had it about a month and have been meaning to start a thread to rave about it, as this is without doubt one of the best gigbags available. Really, it is great. I'll get it done and get some decent photos up. Top quality products and customer service. I bought this to replace a Protec Contego, if the Contego is very good (which it is) then the Fusion is amazing. It manages to be compact but will lots of usable storage, great quality materials and zips, rain/antitheft cover included and the removable 'collar' is a top idea. Plus, very good protection yet nice and light. Anyway, here is the response from Fusion: 'I have been in the warehouse to compare the bags myself, and there are a lot of advantages to the Urban Bass Guitar bag. It is a more generic shape and will accommodate various sizes of guitar. Although the padding is 20mm compared to the 30mm of the F1, the Urban comes with a removable 20mm high-density foam collar, allowing you to mould it round the instrument thereby giving it 40mm of protection and maximum stability, although the guitar will still be very well protected without it. There is a removable headstock block, which can be positioned wherever it's needed. The base of the Urban bag is rubber, the backpack straps tuck away inside specially designed pockets and the overall material is of a higher quality. The Urban bags also come with a raincover and are lighter in weight.'
2.
Yes, given the price of the BDI-21 and the fact it has a DI out, it's a no-brainer to keep one in your gigbag as back up regardless of what pedal/pre/amp combination you use.
That's why I bought mine. Also, for gigs with shared (ropey) back line or rehearsal rooms.
3.
I think the point about Alex's cabs is that they are not just an xxx (put your config here). Is £299 good for a 210? That's the comparison you should be making.
Why? It's a 1x10, isn't it?
4. I doubt they're sh*te!! But, I'd be interested to know too as I'd like a backup 5. I kind of like the weird looks, but am thinking there might be better options for me for the money.
5. No info, but, fantastic looking Corvette that is.
6. Markbass love a good acronym, don't they. I preferred the look of the old one too.
7. Great looking cabs. Also, lovely Sandberg. I'm guessing this is a rehearsal room, with the whiteboard and beaten up sofa?!
8. I've been thinking about adding Ultralites to my old style VM5. It's not too heavy, but lighter is always better and this is about the only thing on the bass that could be improved. I thought about getting new style Sandberg tuners, but it'd leave visible holes I think, but I suppose the Hipshots do as well?
9. Beauty. Mine has matching headstock and blocks too ☺
10.
Fixed
Yep, that also works!
11. They don't sound like musicians to be honest. If that's a genuine opinion, they have little understanding of the basics.
12. £40 delivered. New, but not in original box. Wires measures approx 26cm, so should be good for neck or bridge placement. Great versatile pickup. 13. I'm on the look out for one of those G&L M2500 Nick. Nearly picked one up instead of the Sandberg, now I want both! They look fantastic.
14.
I was looking to see if anyone had back to backed TKS or bergs or barefaced. I get the feeling I will have to wait and see what funds I can raise and then see what is on the market or what is in stock with Bass Gear and Bass Direct and such and make some travel plans.
They are all different flavours of great and will each offer something different. Bass Gear trip is a good idea as you can directly compare Aguilar/Berg/tks and whatever else they have in.
15. I have just the two as well. My Sandberg and my first ever bass. At some point I'll get a decent backup, but I'm enjoying having one main instrument.
16. Dude, £1k for both?! That's a serious bargain for someone.
17. Sandberg VM5. Most versatile bass I've owned. It's a beauty too.
