Looks like good news.

I'm new to the Tonehammer - but am loving it so far. It only has semi-para mids, but; they do a great job. I certainly wouldn't say it is lacking in the high end either. It's probably not as sparkly as some - but that's not my thing anyway.
Hey! Talking about my bass without me? hahaha It's a refinish, made by a car paint shop actually. The bass was originally vintage white. And yeah, it's artificial grass!!! LOL
Cool. To be fair, if anyone's playing could stand out and not let a chrome bass take centre stage; it's this dude.
Fender's success was built on the J Bass, P Bass, Tele, and Stratocaster. They're the recognised 4 main food-groups of Fender. Any company would meddle with that at their own peril. It's a fine line. But Fender have and do make many other instruments. The sane thing for Fender to do, really, is to stop producing other instruments that aren't J/P/T/S.
OK, the car analogy was a mistake! I'm not trying to draw any comparisons between the two brands, other than what you have just said. All I was saying was; to suggest that Fender and Gibson are lazy for relying upon a handful of core products is ridiculous.

Tonehammer pedal? I've not used one, so can't reccomend it, but I do have the amp, which I very much like the powerful EQ on. But, might be worth a look?
Well, you mentioned Ford turning out the Focus, Fiesta, and Transit. Maybe you're so young that these have all been made through your entire lifetime, but I can remember the Sierra (a real innovation, not to mention pig-ugly) coming into being - and where is that now? So yes, Ford are making the Focus, but it's not something they've made since the dawn of time. Cars are a poor analogy, as bits of wood with strings on don't become completely superseded.
The Mondeo was it's successor, I think? Anyway, the point I was trying to make was that you can't label a company 'lazy' for releasing the same products for years. Those cars are the staples of Ford in Europe and whilst they release other models, that's their bread and butter. You said it yourself, bits of wood and string don't become superseded, so why mess with a product that has worked for years? Like Ford, Fender has produced MANY other products, but the continued popularity of a couple of models attracts the vast majority of attention. Someone, I don't recall if it was your good self, said why not put a preamp in a Jazz?! Which already happened 20 or 30 years ago. Fender have produced some crazy, weird things as times and fashions changed, but the Standard P and J remained.
TBH, If, as the OP states, the seller is a member on here, I find it quite weird that you're all discussing this in public in the first place.
Glad I'm not alone.
And when will they move on from churning out the Model T?
Not quite sure what point you're trying to make; care to elaborate?
Yeah, he showed up when I was looking through bass covers of Uptown Funk. I dig his tone and feel, thought his was the best version.
Same for me. Also, saw a Paramore cover of his, played with a pick, that is brilliantly played too.
Bwahaha. Fender are just plain lazy by relying on less than five core products for the last fifty or so years. They need a fecking kick in the pants to jimmy them up a bit. Gibson are just as guilty.
Same with Ford, wish they would stop pedalling out all those Focus', Fiestas and Transists

Every time I see a pic of one of these Yamaha's I want one a little bit more.

But, the fingerprints... *shudders*

I started using Fender flats about a year ago, and they still sound great on two P's. They took a good month to break in I reckon.

http://m.guitarguitar.co.uk/Product/px-KT174NY10657 Might be worth a look - if it's local to you. The Specials are great and so are the 50s. When I bought my Precision new, it was between the one I got (a US Standard) and a Roadworn. I'd have been happy with either but the shop i bought from had one of each of these that felt like winners. I didn't like the Special I tried - but that was partly because the setup was dreadful. I've owned one since and really liked it. I like the Greasebucket circuitry too, which some don't. I'd just go to the shop and see what you like best, if you go in for a certain instrument and the one in the shop happens to be a lemon you might miss out on an unexpected gem. Also, I don't like the pickups, but the Nate Mendel P is great too, if a little neck heavy. Some lighter tuners and, for me, a different pickup would make them a lightweight and very nice Precision.

As a practice amp, this is pretty sweet I reckon. I'd rather have it a touch cheaper and not have the recording interface. As a practice tool, being able to jam wirelessly to Spotify would be great. I can do likewise with my cheap practice amp and an RCA cable, but this is far more attractive and smarter. Having thought about it, and if I could justify the outlay, I'd quite like one, with the wooden font, thanks.

Good stuff. Sounds great. I've only played one NM P bass, but it was really nice.
-
I don't think it makes a difference - but i don't know your amp. The amp will still see a 4 ohm load whatever. I've always daisy-chained as it was the only option available, but my latest amp has two speakon outs - so i've plugged a cab into each.
Not one that I can see on their website . I have just read the thread on the Social B , some of the comments are pretty unnecessary . I have used Ashdown before , a Spyder 550 amp , so my interest is genuine . At £700 , the 1x15 is rubbing shoulders with Bergantino / Vanderkley so the more information available , the more confident I feel that I am buying a good quality cab . From a customers point of view , handing over 700 notes for something that we may or may not get on with is always a bit risky . Anywhere local to Isle of Wight / Southampton/ Portsmouth to try one out ?
Nevada Music carry Ashdown.

I'd leave it as is! But, that's a boring answer, so i'll say mint.

Squire Vintage Modified, Just bought - Can't believe how good it is.

I had the VM 70s Jazz at the same time as a 2010 US Special. The Special was of course better over all in terms of playability. It just felt more solidly built. But that should go without saying, shouldn't it? But, the sound? The VM gave THE jazz tone! The Special was very dark and much deeper but the VM was so growly and aggressive. I took both to a studio session once and the artist and engineer told me to put the US one back in it's case! -

They do seem to pair well. The EQ of the TH500 is very powerful and more usable than the Markbass. It's nice to have the semi-para mids again. The Tonehammer DI is also excellent. The amp and cabs do seem to compliment each other superbly. The thing that seems to impress everyone about the tks - the lovely clear MIDs are only enhanced by the Aggie. The upper MIDs are so pleasant, the high notes that lurk above the 15th fret are still super smooth with no clank or shrillness. I was happy with the cabs with the Markbass but can only say that they do all that and more with the Aguilar. Still the lovely MIDs, still super smooth up high and defined down low; but with a more effective EQ, and, half a dozen gigs in, I'm finding it easier to get my sound quicker, whatever the quirks of the room/stage. If anyone gets chance to try a TH500 with your tks, do! I can't imagine anyone not liking it!
What a rig that is! I bet it sounds as good as it looks!!
Thanks pal. I'm extremely happy with it. Just a proper, classic bass sound in a very lightweight package!

Precision type bass volume control. Always on full?
M@23 replied to interpol52's topic in General Discussion
Always on full when playing. Often roll the volume down between songs though. -
Wow. We play two pubs that are literally a stones throw apart in one town and another two that are exactly opposite each other in another town with none of that nonsense. There is no shortage of bands here though, so maybe bookers/landlords aren't as touchy.
