1.
This is the exact rig Ill have once my speakers arrive. Glad to hear you're so happy with it. I don't play too much rock stuff, but nice to know it can go there. I'm playing mostly Motown stuff at the minute, so I hope it performs just as well! I think it will
I've just decided that a TH500 is next, I'm playing lots of motown at the moment too. Let me know how you get on when your cabs arrive!
 2.
You have 90 now. I'll update the big thread later and make everyone is included
92 now. Great idea to keep the big post going with the list of links. Good work!
 3.
Hi all, Could use a couple of cheeky likes on one of my bands Facebook page, cheers for looking https://www.facebook.com/Thecoldteaband This is a new band, done a couple of gigs, feeling our feet with material. Any comments gratefully received. Cheers Stuart
Quality band name! I'm number 100 ☺
 4.
'LIKED' several of these pages... its always good to support fellows members! Its also good to watch some of your youtube clips and see what you play on your fb page
Yeah, definitely. Although, just realised, the only video clip on our page is of a Fontela Bass number - which we havent played for a few gigs now... might have to bring it back!!
 5. Another vote for Hercules stuff.
 6. https://www.facebook.com/rewiredfunctionband My function band - the page is pretty sparse at the moment but we are working on it! Relatively new, lots of gigs booked for 2015 and always get great feedback - but find it hard to build following like my orignals band has. Would love to get closer to the 100 mark! Much appreciated. Cheers guys. Edit, all of the above liked! ☺
 7.
Nice idea, I like it and will maybe set one up so that other can benefit Cheers Keep them coming! https://www.facebook...TheAngryBadgers
Nice one, cheers. Unfortunately, as tedious as collecting 'likes' is, it does seem to make a difference to promoters, agents, managers, landlords et all. Therr are quite a few of us here, we could help each other out.
 8.
For my two Fenders and G&L right angle at the bass end. It fits better with the "gig loop" through the strap. Less loopage at the guitar.
Same here.
 9. So, is there a thread where we can post FB links to 'like' each others band pages?
 10.
Covers look nice and substantial and therefore should do the job of protecting the cab. I find a decent padded cover makes quite a difference over a year or two as try as you might you just can't avoid bashing one at some point or two..
It's such an effort at the end of a gig too. I managed a dozen gigs or so before my covers arrived and managed not to knock them once. But I was unbelievably careful, which isn't always easy when you're in a rush or the load in/out involves narrow hall or stairways. The TKS covers are great. Tailored perfectly too.
 11. Stunning. What a pair! Now I want a matching 212...
 12. Nice one. Really nice set up you have there
 13. Not seen these before, looks really nice though.
 14.
Played a gig the other week, finished at midnight and then they had a DJ for the last 2 hours of the event and, I tell you, the noise levels actually shocked me. My head was swimming it was so loud! No-one was dancing, everyone was as far away from the dance floor as possible! It was so unpleasant I actually felt close to tears. Truckstop
Unfortunately, this is pretty standard in the pub/clubs my functions band plays. I have foam ear plugs I put in once we have finished our set now - distorted hearing and dizziness whilst trying to pack down is not nice. It's actually shocking that the the noise levels were more comfortable for you being stood a metre from the drummer for 2 hours than the house PA at normal operating level.
 15.
Any 'professional' is someone who earns a living from a particular profession or trade - in this case music - and has acquired the skills or in some cases qualifications/ standards necessary to do so. Personally, in this context, I associate it with someone who has made a career out of music - rather than someone who earns a bit of extra income from it as a paying hobby. I think the term professional inherently implies a certain level of skill and ability. Generally speaking, you'd need to be a musician of a certain standard in order to make a career out of it. Or be exceptionally lucky. Thankful the same doesn't typically apply to other professions, such as brain surgery.
Very well put.
 16. I had a THD Hotplate and hated it. A clean boost is probably your best option, and cheap enough to buy a pedal secondhand and not lose much at all if it doesn't do what you're after.
 17.
I thought I really wanted a sunburst or LPB 66 P, very lightly relic'd and only tarnished chrome-wear. But I've just seen this on Mark's website. I'll let it speak for itself. http://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/basses/limelight00142shellpink.htm
That's awesome. My Jap Fender P is shell pink/rosewood/tort and I get random punters remarking how cool it looks most gigs!
 18. I have two TKS 112. They're worth a go if you're anywhere near Reading and Bass Gear? I had a 2x12 before and a 4x10 before that, neither of which were too heavy, but the portability of the two 1x12s is wonderful in comparison. Especially if the load in includes stairs or when get home from a gig, knackered, at 1 am.
 19. I'm really tempted by one of these! They all look superb.
 20.
I went for the brown 7w pattern vinyl, with the beige/brown cloth. I like to keep things understated
Ooooh, that's gonna be pretty.
 21.
New, 'old' P bass, a '55, with Koylon tweed;
Wow, that's lovely.
 22. Got my covers today, will get some pics sorted. They are really nice! Well padded and nice snug fit. Hugely relieved that I kept the cabs in as new condition loading them in and out uncovered!I ordered two speaker cables off Tommy too - nice short ones so they don't drape across the floor when connected. They cable is really chunky and they look to be top quality too.
 23. Nice! They look ace.
 24. Maybe he needs to swap the tubes for ones that become saturated easier, or get an OD pedal to push the front end - Ibanez Tubescreamer or Boss SD1 are pretty cheap. Or accept that he needs a smaller amp for pub gigs! Also, if the on stage sound was deafening out front it would have been horrenous and most probably way too loud for the venue!
 25.
Are the pickguard screws & jack socket nut/washer - gold or rusty?
Rusty. It's a relic. Tarnished chrome too.
