My photos don't do it justice. It is quite overcast today, but I'll get a better snap tomorrow if it's sunnier. The cloth is actually a warmer yellower colour. It's the beige/brown on the TKS site, in case anyone else was wondering!
Stunning... welcome to the club! The mids and highs on these things are a joy to behold. Running one on its own sounds fantastic, but running the two of them is like an exponential increase in awesomeness.
Haha. Thanks for your input pre ordering too. I can't wait to hear them with a band. They're going to sit very well I think.

After hours of browsing the net for info and many emails back and forth - i decided to give these a try. As UPS only dropped them off this morning, i've not given them a thorough test. But will just say my initial impressions are that the build quality is as good as i have seen from ANY guitar/bass cab. The fit and finish are perfect. The attention to detail is remarkable. They just sound like proper, decent bass cabs should, IMO. The bottom end is focused and round and the mids and highs are lovely and clear - without a tweeter. Just noodling on my Precision with flats you can hear that it will be a match made in heaven. I've not spent long playing them, but straight away they just had that sound. The process of buying them was far easier than i had anticipated too. Tommy, the owner, answered all my emails very promptly and in perfect English. He was a real gent and talked me through whole process with patience. The whole process took two and a half weeks or so. The were shipped on the 18th, saw a bit of Denmark and Germany and arrived today, really well packaged, via UPS. Put it this way, i have had more difficult, drawn out processes ordering from the UK. I'll report back once i have rehearsed and gigged them.
Living on the isle of Wight is a pain for trying stuff, always a trip to the mainland,,
Ain't that the truth!

Lovely bass, cabs and cat.

Wow, that sucks. How many cabs has the Cab Slayer claimed? If Orange accepted liability with the 'faulty PCB' I would look into claiming for the cab repairs, for sure.
Don`t mention the handles, I mentioned them once but I think I got away with it.
Quote of the day! Haha.

Scott Devine maybe? I think he has a medical need for it. I've seen him mention it on more than one occasion in his fantastic videos.

I played the lacquer model once. It was quality.

The VM are cool. CVs are pretty special though, if you find a good one.
Yawn.....
It's a fair question, isn't it? I'm genuinely interested in how you've come to this conclusion too.

Compared my Genz Benz Shuttlemax 9.2 with a Markbass SD800
M@23 replied to far0n's topic in Amps and Cabs
I don't know the first thing about GB amps, but the low EQ on the MB is centred very low. Could that be why? -
An even higher priority than proper and high quality mechanical and electrical engineering and acoustics?
That side of it is obviously quality - so there are no worries there.

Did anyone snap one of these up? Serious bargains!
-
Aaaaand now I'm trawling ebay for one of these... I have a few single coils laying around that I took out of a Strat, including a Duncan Hot Rail! Never occurred that it might work in a bass.

My folding screwfix trolley can apparently take 80kg! Really, it would struggle doing half that. They are nifty little things though and don't take up any space in the car.
-
Good stuff! Really pleased to hear it. I never got to hear it out front unfortunately!
Fender 1978 US Precision, Fender MIM 2008 Precision. How are you getting on with it?

Cool. These look great as they age too.

Sorry to be the one to ask here, but you've ruled out it just being a faulty speakon cable/connector?
'Tipping', to me, is akin to busking, with the guitar case open on the ground. You're relying on the goodwill of the folks around. It's a half-step up from begging. If a restaurant owner wants decent staff, he should pay them decent money, and the healthcare contributions etc which go with it. Tipping as a revenue evades this. It has no place in a decent modern society, imo. Just my tuppence-worth. (...but if you could see your way clear to spare a copper or two, I'd be much obliged, sir...)
I agree. Though, I should say, I don't understand how the whole tipping thing actually works in the USA. Do they pay income tax on tips?
-
I think it is input gain. Could be wrong though. The one Ashdown I had, the VU meter didn't work either way.
-
Very nice! I love this colour with the tort guard and rosewood, especially for relics.
I've never used flats, I have 2 or 3 Precisions that I use regularly so I'll fit some to see if I like them. Any recommends for a flat virgin? (Ooer missus )
I like Fender's own. There cheap enough to take a punt on too.
