1. Got to ask, why did you buy it in the first place? For a project or something?
2. Sky blue?! Might change your mind after tonight ;-) Great deal on a top rig here for someone.
3. Wow. That neck is flamey!
4. Nuts to that. Glad we have never came across this bull.
5.
There's LOADS of Rock music everywhere. Too much of the stuff. Honestly.....I spent 90% of my time running away from it.
Same here!!
6.
My Carvin head only has one speakon. Do these have two for daisy chaining (I would look on MB website but I don't want to check the wrong cab)?. Ta.
They do. I used to do this, 2 of these cabs together sound massive.
7. Very nice. I have a 1995 Japanese P and weirdly enough, my tone and volume pots were all scratched up as you describe!!
8. What a looker. I'd have this for a little project had it not been for unexpected vet bills this week!! I have a 90s Germany Corvette and prefer the sound of it to any jazz bass I've owned, but it is too damn heavy. Would be really interested to hear this!
9. Jerks will be jerks. Age is irellevant. Rude people are rude! Without wanting to go off topic... Was the Micromark an 801, and did it hold it's own?!
10.
They are extremely well built basses (better than a lot of Fenders)
Which Fenders?
11. With regards to build quality, surely, not many of us are in a proper position to comment anyway. I mean, i have owned a few basses, but never a good deal of any one model - therefore, my opinions are formed from my own very limited experience. To state all USA Precision (just an example) are of a lower quality than Musicman or Rick or any make, you probably should have owned a decent amount of each. Given that manaufactures make thousands and all the variables involved. It is unfair to say X is worse than Y because i have played 6 of X and one had rough frets, bad paint, badly alligned neck, or whatever. Especially as many shops don't set guitars up and that they have travelled half way across the globe to be in a local shop. Plus, we form brand allegiances and our opinions become exagerated and sometimes blinkered.
12.
I feel the same. The ones I've played all felt very cheap and always disappointed, weight wise, tonally and aestheically. I've played sub £300 Epiphone basses that are built to a higher standard and have a better tone and that's saying something. They are a big company so will always have the fanboys who love them but I just don't get it. Saying all that, I like Fender. I imagine the guys who love Stingrays etc will think I'm a mug for liking Fender. Different strokes and all that jazz :-)
A mate of mine loves Rickenbackers and has a 4001 as well as 12 and 6 strings guitars. I just don't get it. They really do feel cheap and plastic to me as well as being expensive and twangy sounding. But, like you, I love Fenders, which many would also say I'm a mug for! Choice is a wonderful thing. 1st world problems and all that...
13. I'm interested in the BG250-208 too. I tried one at a big store when buying a bass recently and was really impressed. It was very loud and clear for such a tiny box. Ideal for practices and backup for gigs
14. Had one in an old band. Hate the things, if used in the manner our old drummer used them, the audiemce and your fellow band members wont appreciate not being able to breathe, let alone open their mouths to sing!
15. I don't know how TC input gain works, but with Markbass you set it as high as possible without overloading the input stage. So, turn gain up until it clips when you play hard, then back it off. With my MB amp I was setting it at 12 o'clock just as a default, recently I realised I could set gain to 1 o'clock without clipping. The difference in volume is huge! I now set the master at 10 o'clock instead of 12 o'clock. Maybe worth a try pushing the gain a little?
16.
Trouble with cash converters stuff is that anything that looks like a bargain is likely to be nicked...
Yeah, you're right I think. When I was at uni in Plymouth we would go there regularly and there was always something cool, but you see some of the people bringing the gear in for a quick sale and it's blatantly not theirs to sell!
17.
Yeah they were a great idea! They seem to discontinue everything exciting because of how good the standard or traveller series cabs are. I want them to bring back the Classic series sealed cabs with the tolex and black grille cloth... I need a 2x10 to match my 4x10
Yeah, I guess so. I had a traveller 102p and to be fair, it was awesome. I'd love another one. I've not played a Classic, but they do look great.
18.
I've got an MBcl115 and cl210. great cabs but the tweeter/horns are rubbish so I keep them turned right down. At high volume they( theweeters) just sound awful. But other than that I love the cabs. Normal rig is ampeg PF500 and the club 1x15. It goes thru the PA for more oomph. No plans to try any other cabs any time soon
I have the Club 212, shame they discontinued the Club series.
19. Really, just do whatever you want. Obviously it is beneficial to be able to utilise a variety of techniques and styles. But it's your playing. Don't get pigeonholed as a pick player or whatever and do what you enjoy and what feels right. For what it's worth, I played guitar for years before bass, so was playing only with a pick when I started. I wanted to learn finger style because I liked the tone. Now, I can appreciate both techniques in different circumstances. But, don't feel you have to play a certain way because it is proper.
20. They're great cabs. In all regards, sound, build quality, versatility.
21. Fender Roadworns are great basses. Be a shame to write them off because someone didn't like the paint job.
22. Cool. I had the red and rosewood variant for a while. I'd love another 2EQ at some point. That's a bargain too, I got more by part exchanging mine with a major retailer that you paid for this!
23. OMG. As they say. That is remarkable.
24.
Pal of mine playing fiddle in my band a few years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hL81A7f2MWo ...and what he's up to these days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzMLmS9cNxg It couldn't have happened to a nicer lad.
AWESOME!
