1.
I prepared a new 4x12 cabinet for bass with a real old sound. When i will receive my Go pro i will show you some moment of the life in our company. All evening before to come at home we play ping pong or Table football, yiu will see.
Can't wait to see this video. I have a club600f32 -which sounds huge, so can imagine a 4x12 would be brilliant!
2. Glad to see it, welcome home.
3.
Credit where credit's due. The boy can play but give me the tone of a beautiful double bass playing a few notes over this any day of the week. That goes for Victor Wooten too.
Yeah, agreed.
4. Oh dear. After getting my US Precision, and thinking it would be the last bass I would ever need to buy - I now have a strong urge to buy more Precisions...
5. That's cool. What body and neck did you use?
6.
I never leave home to gig or rehearse without one of these. I usually have it in line for a bit grit as required.
I carry one of these too, after my amp messed me about on a gig and I didn't have a plan B. Had to go direct using a Kaoss Pad as a pre.
7. Wow. What a beauty. I want one of these so badly. Congratulations!
8. Interesting question! With the covers band, 100%, originals band, probably less than 25%.
9. Screwdrivers, they're not unusual are they? A drum tuning key then.
10. Not much to add, other than don't give up experimenting! There will be huge amounts of bass/contrasting frequencies in such a big band and I can only imagine how difficult it is setting up and sound checking so many people! I use a home made Gamma Pad (isolating stand) or a Markbass Markstand, and they make a big difference when playing on old hollow wooden stages. Not sure if mentioned, so I apologise if so, but where is your amp in relation to where you stand on stage, and have you tried EQ rather than the filters? Try cutting bass a touch to begin with and see if that makes a difference, maybe borrow a graphic EQ and experiment with cutting exact frequencies. Good luck. Edit: just a thought, are you sure it is YOU that sounds muddy? Could it be that the band is that big that the whole sound needs work? It might not be your sound directly but someone else, or a combination of drum turnings, guitars or something else. And, have you tried other basses? I use Markbass gear and moved my Jazz on as I didn't like the two together. For my purposes a Musicman Stingray, and now mostly a Precision sound much better.
11. Scott is a wonderful player, but he is a very, very good teacher also. Really enjoy his lessons.
12. Sounds mega. What strings are you using? Both sets sound really nice.
13.
I got told off for calling them "kettle leads" a little while ago...
Haha, my old tech used to tell me off for calling them kettle leads too.
14.
Cool, Screwfix do similar but holds almost double the weight for £30 too
I have one of these too, it's ok. I wouldn't really recommend it though. The plastic teeth that work to fold/unfold it might as well be made of chocolate. It is still working 5 months later, but I wish I had gone for the rigid one - that can carry over twice the weight and will never break. This folding one weighs nothing, folds up incredibly small and can carry my 25kg 2x12 well, but it won't forever.
15. I've already voted Grolsch washers, but i just realised my Warwick has Dunlop button locks. The bass is 22 years old and still going very strong.
16. Grolsch washers, can't fault them.
17. No worries mate. It's a great bit to play that middle 8.
18. I'll have time to write it out tomorrow evening if you like? I've just figured it out for the same reasons as you.
19. I thought all US Standards did? My 2012 P does but 2010 Special didn't and shouldn't have done.
20. I just did the PAT course through work, so didn't have to pay! Good times. Going to start testing my own gear as we are more regularly getting asked by venues too. Laughable when you see the state of some of their extension leads/sockets!
21.
I was wondering why strings direct haven't had them for a while. That would be a bummer
They still have this gauge available as a 5 set. Wonder why they changed the 4 string gauge though.
22. I measured the strings on my 2012 US P. Fender's site states that the E is a 110, but mine is exactly 105. I like 45-105s, they feel just right to me. Incidentally, has Fender stopped producing 45-105 flats? I can't find them anywhere.
23.
Here's my all-British hand-built set up, mwahahaha: Ashdown CTM100 2x Barefaced Super Compacts Status Retroactive J ACG Graft Recurve
Great stuff.
24. I guess they aren't anywhere near playable, therefore can't be sold as usable instruments. Would be good if they actually said what was wrong with it. Maybe it's an amalgamation of factory seconds that would otherwise have been binned.
