Or what I've had: Soundguy: your drummer emailed me yesterday and agreed it was ok if all the bands use you rig. Cheers.
Yep, had that. The worst thing was the sound guy was telling the flipping truth!

Boring answer, but a Pino Precision, today. Next week I'll have a different answer for you though!

I really like them. But, acoustic foam off cuts sourced locally (with a bit of luck), MDF and carpet tiles were all the ingredients used for a homemade one that does a very good job.

Sorry to hijack here, but I'm going to put some flats on the Christmas list. Not had them before, do I need to order any specific length for through body stringing? I'll prob give Fender ago to see how I like them. Thanks! Edit: another noob question; Do they not do 45-110s? I need to do some more homework here...

American or Mexican made new model Fender Jazz?
M@23 replied to Mr Fretbuzz's topic in General Discussion
White + tort + rosewood = classy. They're some tasty curtains too! -
I have a 57 for general purposes and backup for bass/guitar/vocal/snare. Saying that, don't think I've used it to mic my cab. Just D.I usually, if required. For bass only I'd invest in a quality D.I, but that's because it would be more appropriate for the gigs I do.
"Karma"
Awesome. How does it sound through the Markbass? I have pretty much the same rig except my speakers are both in one cab, and I'm looking to get my first P ASAP. Only played a '78 through the rig so far, but bloody loved it! More than any other bass I've played through it.
Just a vote of adulation for this 30 quid box. The other week my band did an Oxjam gig. Organiser's heart was in the right place but lacked experience planning events. Against my better judgement I arrived as advised without a bass amp, as it would be provided. Unfortunately no bass amp arrived, so out comes the Ghetto BDI21. All 6 bands bassists did the entire gig sans backline. Straight into the PA with monitor support.
A bit off topic, but I just had to check your location as I had the same experience at a different Oxjam gig last week!
[sup]Just bought this '71 Precision here on bass.chat
What a beaut.
FWP. Now it's done you can stop worrying about it. The next will be easier.
Yeah this. If you happen to have this bass after 10 or 20 or more years of gigging you'll look fondly upon the dings. The first one is a bit cringey, but, there is nothing cooler than a proper 'roadworn' Precision!

Did I make it?! The 212 is no longer listed on GAK's website, I managed to go the past week without caving and giving the credit card a workout.

On the same bass, I use Lord Sheraton bees wax, it was only a couple of quid from Morrisons. Has worked superbly and smells great! I use it on Bubinga body and Wenge neck.
NX2-212T - £379 - WOW!!!
That's outrageous. I love my Markbass rig and can't afford to buy this, but almost feel obliged to at that price. It seems like it would be rude not to!
-
A Pino Custom Shop Precision. Which won't happen anytime soon, so I'll lower the bar a touch and aim for a US Standard Precision.

I'm trying to persuade the other half to let me buy a P! You lucky man!

Hell no should you be paying. That's unbelievably tight.
My new rig arrived at 9 a.m. This morning, just awesome service from Bass Direct as usual. Only problem is i'm stuck at work so can't go play. Rig looks ace though,i can't believe how small & light the Shuttle is,build quality looks very good too. Come on home time.
I've not played one of the Genz 2x12 but they do look beautiful!

What are these strings on my 69 Fender Precision?
Looks like an E, A, D and G to me :-p
I laughed, more than is reasonably expected! -
This is true. I'm one of them. Because I don't 'do' bass solos... why? As I've said on this forum about a billion times, I really don't think electric bass guitar lends itself to being a solo instrument. But then I don't much like solos on any instrument. A guitar solo? Yes OK, but only if it's very simple and doesn't last much more than eight bars. I suppose it's because as a tender young lad I was brought up on 'progressive rock' and have heard enough solos of every type (particularly drum solos) to last the rest of my life, thanks. I find them boring. To me it's the ultimate in self-obsessed Narcissism. In my opinion live solos are pretty much just tolerated at best and are received by long-suffering audiences with patient half-hearted applause - if you're lucky. Stop it at once!
Well said!

Looks great. This was nearly going to be mine, until my trade offer got nicked! How does it compare to the MIA?
I think what gets peoples goat is the BF fans always sign off with, "blew away my MarkBass" or "Brand X are not comparable" when they clearly are, If you like the tone thats cool and the weight saving is great but why end the response with the non factual bits almost everytime.
Yes!
Markbasses cabs aren't nearly an equivalent but are cheaper, while many are still more expensive and either won't go nearly as loud or be as light.
Based on what? I take it you have owned, extensively gigged and lived with at LEAST one MB cab to make such a sweeping generalisation?! I think what Barefaced are doing is great, I look forward to reading what Alex has to say on cab related matters, but inevitably, in a Barefaced thread opinion will be stated as fact. Just because technically something might be 'better' on paper doesn't mean it will be to all of the people all of time. I should add, if it wasn't obvious, I have owned 3 MB cabs and hopefully in the not too distant future will be able to look into getting a Barefaced.

Band leader: I want a songlist of 200 songs...
M@23 replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
Was he being serious, was that a request, or just thinking/wishing out loud?! Perhaps he was trying to assert his dedication and trying to gauge a reaction from the rest of you? I joined a function band a couple of months ago and had to learn the setlist - they were already playing together so I had to catch up fast. The setlist is about 50 songs, maybe a couple more, and it was hard work. Some pop songs, Jessie J's Domino, Pricetag, Diamonds by Rihanna, Get Lucky by Daft Punk and the like took minutes to learn as it is pretty much the same chord progressions throughout - but others I had to put a lot of time into. Plus, I don know what your band leader wants, but my covers band changed keys of some songs, extended choruses, dropped verses, mashed songs together etc, which made learning some songs very difficult to learn in my own time without my band mates guidance. I found it all quite stressful at times, 200 songs is a huge ask, especially if it is a case of learning them ASAP. I don't think I could handle it! Best of luck! -
Is this him?
Haha. No, that's not him. That guy looks the real deal though.
