1. Brown leather or worn brass pick guard would be brilliant, love the bass by the way.
2. If you are worried about pulling it off the amp head then run your cable through the handle of the cab/head and then into the pedal so if you pull hard it isn't tugging on the pedal. Doesn't help you with whether it'll sound better in the FX loop or not but it's a possibility for a bit of extra safety
3. The adapter looks like a diago one: http://www.diago.co.uk/adaptors/plug-adaptors.html
4. 13th Note is a good bet if you can get bands together, hire is cheap/free if you make a certain amount on the bar downstairs in the venue(can't remember the exact cost/amount) so as long as you have a few fans along who like a drink or six then ticket sales are all profit.
5.
They look good. A hell of a lot cheaper than Rapid and RSH too. The orange B would be perfect for that modified Phase 45 clone I've been toying with building...
I am going to be ordering an orange 1590BB soon for a modded Phase 90 I am doing for a mate
6.
Anyone know where to get ready painted enclosures here in the uk?
haven't ordered from here myself yet but these guys seem to do a few colours: http://www.bluebellaudio.com/
7. Have you checked the neck p'up shielding? Might help. As far as effects pedal solutions go would the EHX HumDebugger not be a better option than a noise gate?
8. For simple starter stuff I just built an EHX LPB-1 clone on vero, really really simple circuit and so small I mounted it on the pot. Not tried it on bass yet as I built it for the guitarist in my band but sounded good as a slightly coloured boost in his setup.
9. Doesn't seem to crop up here to often but I am loving my EQD Monarch, has a good tube-esque Orange style tone and gives me everything from a little warmth with my Markbass through to huge, almost fuzz, overdrive. EQ is pretty good on it too.
10. Think that most of that album was recorded on a Jazz with flatwounds
11.
Anyone..?
Have a look at this vid on toner transfer, not tried it yet myself but this seems to be the way to go according to quite a few folk: http://pedalparts.co.uk/making-boxes-look-lush-with-laser-toner-transfer/
12.
I wouldn't say so, very transparent excellent frequency response, and power for days. Shep on here has some sort of EBS head and it'll do coloured vintage all the way to modern hi fi. Played with the EQ and gain and it felt a down sight louder than his old 1200w digital power amp with a similar EBS preamp. IIRC at least. The 650watter for sale at 450 quid. I don't think you'll get much more quality ampage at that price secondhand.
Shep's is a EBS Fafner I believe, absolute monster of an amp and versatile as hell. I only got rid of mine because I often take public transport to gigs so it wasn't exactly practical.
13. I tried the SFT and liked it but ended up going for the EQD Monarch instead, gives a really good warm Orange-esque tone. May be too much over drive for your needs though, I run it with a blend pedal to keep things subtle.
14. Lovely! How do the pickups sound like that? Are they not backwards from the 'standard' (i.e. bridge at neck and vice-versa)? Not a criticism as you clearly know what you are doing, just curious.
15. No worries mate
16.
Maybe a local basschatter could help you out
If you are needing a set up on the new one when it arrives give me a shout. I'd be happy to have a look at it and set it up for you on the cheap. By no means a pro tech but I set up all my own basses plus a fair few of my friends basses and guitars and I am always happy to help a fellow basschatter.
17. I think what Foxen meant was that the magnets do not really need potted. I personally would test fit the magnets dry and if you like the sound then more securely fit them using epoxy.
18. RS have stores so you could collect, I assume the additional cost you have quoted there is their ridiculous postage price. If that doesn't suit you could try Farnell, still have to pay high postage if they have it but it will be less than RS (I think)
19. Out of interest what size where the magnets in your pickup and where are you getting the replacement Alnicos? I am currently sourcing parts for a build and finding the right size of Alnico bar magnets is proving to be pain
20. Wow didn't quite get how small it is till the last pic! Until then the body looked kind of Curbow sized. Does the low E even go around the tuner? In the second pic it just looks like it is bent round and slotted through.
21. Sold Dave my DIgitech BSW and he was a great guy to deal with. Good comms and quick payment made for a painless sale.
22. Just sold Neil my DHA VT2. Very easy to deal with, prompt sale with no fuss or faff. Would recommend and certainly deal with him again.
23. old stray bit of feedback I just found: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/74345-feedback-for-d-basser
