1. Great guy, did his best to help when Royal Mail where doing their best to be feckless idiots.
2. Is is definitely distortion, could it be a mechanical rattle? Something in the cab, amp or even the room you are in might be just loose enough to rattle giving a buzzing sound. I have had that a few times.
3. These basses are absolutely fantastic, I have the 6 string and it is awesome
4. hmmm I am starting to see a trend of people called Dan having a fantastic taste in basses
5. mmm sounds nice. I would love the funds for another Dingwall, nicest basses I have ever encountered. Can't wait to see this come together. p.s. going by your twitter your name is Dan, small world that dbass and d-basser on here are both Dingwall wielders called Dan
6. Nice song, really like the idea for the vid but found the wobbly camera a little off putting
7. I have never wanted a T-bird before but dayum that looks nice
8. Peaveys are very good for the money but I have to say the Lakland I used to have was bloody awesome. I would go for a Laky if you can get one second hand but if you see a nice Peavey anywhere I doubt you'll be disappointed for the money.
9. Franz and Chris are both awesome artists, for fans of folk punk or just damn good songs. I will be supporting Friday at the Glasgow show (playing with Dave Hughes)
10. Composition changed early 90s edit: have a look here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4900524.stm
11. I wish, but I hate to see the taxi driver's face when I try and get to my next gig
12. Can't go wrong with Barefaced, my wee Midget handles a low A without any issues, not too expensive either.
13. Good to know they are that helpful if I ever have problems with mine. I have had good service from EBS too in the past, emailed them about the spec for the bulb that goes behind the valve in the Fafner and they sent me two new ones from Sweden for free.
14.

Yup, sitting up till the middle of the night to bid on weird basses pays off.
15. Can't afford it, sorry, but I can attest to the quality of these basses. Probably the most versatile and playable instruments I have come across. Whoever does buy this will not be disappointed.
16. Keep sharing them, it is those opinions that keep them niche and cheap for me
17. Keep and eye on ebay, 6 strings don't seem to go for anywhere near as much as their 4 and 5 string cousins. I got my 6 string Dingwall ABI on ebay a few years back, mint condition, for only slightly more than you are budgeting and they are over £2400 new!
18. That list looks like a slightly shorter version of the mod I linked, always good to see people agreeing about what changes to make.
19. I have a Boss CS-3 pedal lying around at the moment doing very little good since I find it sucks a lot of bass from the signal and can be a little hissy. I have heard good things about mods such as this one and I was wondering if anyone had tried it, or something similar, and had any advice. I was also wondering about the best place to get components and if anyone had advice on what to get or avoid. Capacitor wise are these any good for what I am needing? With the resistors should I be looking at carbon or metal film or does it not matter? Much appreciated. Dan
20. Damn you poverty *shakes fist*
21. Wizard Pickups are pretty damn good and not too expensive. Drop em an email explaining the kinda thing you are looking for and I am sure they can point you in the right direction or wind something to your needs.
22. Lovely looking bass, as I say go for it, I would never listen to drummers and singers for advice on instruments or aesthetics any how
23. Practice practice practice, obviously don't overstretch things to the point of pain but I have utter midget hands and I play a 6 string Dingwall with no major issues (37" low B!). Don't be afraid to use 4 fingers across three frets round about the first fret if you have to, for octave stuff round there I still find index and pinky easier than index and ring.
24. I love having a 6 string, as you say offers a lot more versatility, particularly if your singer is prone to switching keys for songs. Get the odd weird comments but most folk think it is pretty cool and some how makes me a better bassist (little do they know). That said I have just finished putting together a precision copy for one of my bands because 6 string really doesn't look right for folk punk. I would go for it though mate, what bass was it you where thinking of getting?
