can a single HLF handle that amp...?
IMO NO WAY. The 4 PRO is 1200w bridged mono IIRC & I used to 'over-excurse' read- make fart like a flatulent ol bat!! EASILY with a SVTII on 11:00 sure 1:00 was pretty much full vol. with more lovely tube OD comin on as U went further on the volume, but THE SVT410 HLF IMO aint a really capable cab for LOUD stuff. YMMV of coz. Also AFAIK the SVT4PRO is 4 RU same as SVT2- again I could be WRONG

I've not had ANY probs w/ JJ KT77's OR JJ KT88's!!!
-
I like 'em- they're essentially 1/2 of an SVT810E - an enclosed(no porting) 4x10- grab 2 & U got a 'modular SVT810.... I liked playing thru one with my V4BH all tube amp. Only played thru one ONCE & that was my impression. liked it w/ a 100w tube amp & a passsive Precision

As new in box CHUNK SYSTEMS Octavious Squeezer 4 sale 250GBP + I'll pay insured postage from my home in AUS. Aint NO probs with this one - all works perfectly, I just found I was dialling in ONE sound (& I can do this with another pedal) where this synth pedal has HEAPS to offer-even an inbuilt tuner!!! Looks brand new- pics coming over w/end-my time- as I say it's in it's orig. box. I NEED the $$$$$ as I bought a Superbass JCM800 Marshall, borrowed $$$ to buy it & HAVE to pay it back....... PM me & I'll try & check in over w/end- have gigs Fri, Sat & Sun eve tho- so net usage may be sporadic.... Regards, Rod

Dunno where the "unreliable' tag for Early SVT's come from??? Only few I've come across- were looked after properly- serviced every ?# of hrs usage- & ALL worked flawlessly. As does my SVTII('91) I've had that for 3 yrs now & apart from the initial service when I got it, -as It doesn't get used all the time, hasn't had a service since- altjho I DID check BIAS a while ago & all was cool. BUT That amp has -again- performed flawlessly since I've had it. NOT ONE problem!!! If fact it's THE amp I go to when I KNOW it'll do THE job where ever, whenever!! :-P

PM me if you want his contact info.
What did U get put into yr V4BH 'Nana?? I've still got the Orig. Sovtek 5881's & aint real happy with.

I HAD a GS112, now own a AE112. TBH it took me a cuppla weeks to get used to the BERG, but once I did- WOW it IS far better IMO. YMMV. It IS louder & seems to be able to sound modern or vintage with applomb. (??) Well. :-) I've had a LOTTA compliments on my tone with this set up(LMII>AE112) I ALSO have a LMII & while the AE112 does have the top handle the LMII sits perfectly with its 2 front 'feet' on the metal edges of the handle-thus angling UP a fraction at front. NOT wierd at all IMO. I got a mate to sew a cover for mine & it's been fine- sure the lack of protective corners etc IS not as good as the GS112 was(I like carpeted cabs too....) but I actually have a spare set of 8 plastic interlocking corners I COULD put on it if I felt the need. With THAT much $$$ difference I'd probly not go the AE112 but here in AUS the Aggies are about the same price, so.........

samez here :-) Specifics.... Wanna know what the " SLOPE " control does exactly ?? Freq's of the EQ's & do the two inputs have a difference? is one a buffered one or attenuated one.. ???? I THOUGHT I noticed a slight difference in tone outta them when I tried 'em both last w/end. Any info - appreciated Thanx, Rod

Hi all, I picked up a Marshall JCM800 Superbass MKII 100w non master volume head the other day- pics will follow asap- & while I've looked at Marshall's site & seen that almost EVERY other amp they made has a manual, I can't find one for my amp head. Anyone know where I could download one?? Cheers, Rod

I use mine with every amp & at every gig. NOT on all the time. I've a SVTII(non-pro) & an Ampeg V4BH & this VT BASS will actually sound almost exactly the same as both these amps if I adjust it to do so... I don't NEED it to do that, but it was fun to try & do. I find I like using it to slightly alter my all tube amps sound- w/ the SVTII I use it to make it sound as tho it's JUST on the break up point & sumtimes as a compltet OD pedal. With the V4BH I use it to add another dimension- I USUALLY have the V4BH set reight at the 'sweet spot'( breaking up slighly when i dig in-clean when I play normally) So I use the VTBASS to add MORE Distortion when needed, & therefore am able to turn it off & go back to a clean sound quickly. I also use it w/ a LMII > Berg AE112- at our li'l Jazz/blues gigs & I've had SO MANY compliments on my tone with this set up. All ages of ppl ... one old timer came up & said- "is that a vintage set up U got there?" No it's actually a modern lite weight amp & cab etc.. was my reply. "gee it sounds just like bass did when I used to go to gigs back in the day" Thats a pretty good compliment I think- as the tone I was going for was like a B-15-Fender Jazz w/ flats>VTBASS (set as B-15 w/ a touch of grit)> LMII (VLE & VPF -8 0clock) >Berg AE112.

I used the 600 at a festival gig- w/ a Fender 6x10 cab a cuppla months back. Was DAMN good IMO. As it was the sort of gig where we had 10 mins to get onstage & be ready, I didn't get a chance to 'fiddle' with it much. Just set it at right volume & away we went. But it did a great job. good beefy sound. & when I did play with the EQ a li'l, all worked well & as I expected it should. IOW it didn't NOT do what I wanted it to! - or- it did what I expected it to & did it well. Sorry I can't offer more.

I've heard ZERO difference in sound since I did this. I even recorded the NV215 I did it to- which was after the 610. & BOTH recordings sound identicle- to MY EARS at least. I didn't screw thru the rear at all. &the 7/8th" rails do NO sound differing AFAIK Goodluck!

HA HA HA !!!! GREAT clip Mr Foxen!!!! Just sorta wnted to turn it off, but couldn't!!! Ha ha excellent!!! must try that tomorow nite :-P

I used it at the gig last Sat nite. It's simply an awesome bass. I was gonna just use it on the 1st set, but ended up using it all night!! I put set of flats on it B4 the gig. D'addario Chromes 40-95. Lovely old school tone!!!

I'll second the Mark Bass LMII (or the TA 501 or whatever it is- T-TUBE, A - analog power) The LMII is solid state with analog power- different to the digital MB amps, a warmer sound IMO. BUT I totally understand where U R comin from. I've got an Ampeg V4BH-all tube 100w,& a SVTII -300w all tube. & I love the Ampeg all tube sound dearly. I also think that NONE of Ampeg's other models -apart from the all tube amps- sound anywhere NEAR the real -all tube models. Now I've NOT liked most other amps & have used all tube gear all my life, but if I lived up 4 flites of stairs, I'd do the following(if at ALL possible) 1.., MOVE house. or if cannot- 2. store my bass gear somewhere safe & reliable w/ ground floor access. 3. Buy a load of lite gear- ( this wasn't an option when I was startin out!!) BUT recently I've been SO impressed w/ the Mark Bass LMII amp. I do stick a Tech 21 VT bass pedal in front of it mostly- tho it's still a warm amp. But the VT bass pedal really does give U 99% of the TUBE amp sound, I even use it for when I want the "SVT just at the point of overdrive" point w/out the HUGE volume.- even WITH my SVT powering it all. So a LMII amp & a VT bass pedal into a good cab would be MY choice if I couldn't have ground floor access. YMMV of course! Good luck

BErgantino NV610!!! Best sounding 810 that is really a 610. Is lighter than many 410's at 97lbs & is really easy to transport & sounds... well AWESOME!!!!!!!! is designed to sound like the ORIG. 810 Ampeg straight back from late 60's
its a vintage squareback.but i need to replace two of the speakers.anyone know where i could find some?
Check out http://www.fliptops.net/catalog/index.php?cPath=21 This is in USA anyway- dunno re UK & as I'm in AUS ...... But I reckon if U contact '' fliptops '' they'll steer U in right direction. BUT I See nothing wrong with using 2 cabs if U want. Sure the comb filtering may have an effect, & it may not be IDEAL etc...but how have 1000's of bassists in the past gotten on when THEY used 2 or 3 or 6 Ampeg 810's ??? I reckon 90% of em had a HUGE bass sound. May NOT've been a perfect bass sound, but I bet it was LOUD as......... &, no doubt- FUN ;-p Of couse BFM & Alex etc know FAR more than I do re speakers & their why's & hows, so, I take thir advice seriously, BUT I also like to have fun when I play- so I use my own ears & discression as well as heeding their advice. In saying this - I'll put in a BIG VOTE for the Bergantino NV610. simply a super large-ish cab & at near 1/2 the weight of the modern SVT810....... Designed apparently to sound like the old straight back Ampeg 810. BUT as $$$$ might make it a no-go, I can say I was pretty impressed w/ the ASHDOWN 810 when I used one a year ago. I sure liked it better than the Ampeg 810 - new one- I used the previous year.

CONGRATS on grabbing a NV610 SUPERB cab!!!!! hard to beat! I did this to BOTH my NV610 & NV215 & it makes life MUCH easier. I simply bought recycled plastic garden stakes from a garden supplier-these are solid plastic, & are not that brittle plastic-rather quite malleable(well sorta) & are perfect for drilling etc.. I cut the ends into a gradual slope to meet the cab, countersunk 5 or so holes & simply srewed 'em into the rear of the cabs,. the stakes are about $4.00 ea. (about 2UKP) Here's a thread at TB re... but I think the stakes are the end result on this too????? good luck!
