1.
I think that of those three bands, one of the first two probably won't pan out. I'd suggest that you get started with all three, and if the first two both somehow miraculously come together, then make a decision on which one to retire from. It sounds to me like the established covers band is the one that you're the least musically engaged with, and it sounds like they wouldn't have much difficulty replacing you, so perhaps it would be them. S.P.
+1 to this.
2. I don't need this, because I've just bought a Behringer BDI21 and had a very kind basschatter do the mids mod for me.... But I'm buying one anyway. What is wrong with me?!
3. I have chrome ones that I'm thinking of switching for black ones
4. Do they do a cheaper Squier model?
5.
I regularly switch between the two, mostly in mobile mode as I like the auto first unread post feature - in fact I wish the full version had a user option to do it all the time
I assume you know you can click on the little blue dot on the left of the topic title?
6. Bassist wanted for Rox Off. Arguably East Anglia's best rock band. Playing mostly in the Suffolk area, with the occasional trip into Essex (Romford, Ilford etc.) The band has been going 25 years, so is very well established. Playing songs by Iron Maiden, AC/DC, G'n'R, Metallica, Judas Priest, Audioslave, Queen, Led Zeppelin... The list goes on! Very heavy gigging schedule, gigging every weekend, mostly twice a week. If you're interested, drop me a PM and I'll give you the contact details.
7. NOBD! New Old Bass Day
8. Someone got a bargain
9.
It's the person not the bass, plus you hear the same instrument differently when you are playing or listening. I thought my Ric didn't sound like a Ric when I played it. Lozz played it at the bash and I thought 'f*** me, it's Bruce Foxton!'
My Jazz sounds better when played by someone else as well... Hmmm....
10.
Barefaced cabs are braced and are strong enough to survive being dropped, several times, down a flight of concrete stairs. Which is what Alex did when he tested one of the original Compacts to destruction.
I'd like to see the video of this.
11.
In real life this looks the absolute dogs b******s - when it's finished, I think we'll be able to post it on the 'In Praise of Green Basses' thread, don't you Bryan?
I think we will be crowned king of that thread Andy
12. Looks cheap and ugly, IMO.
13. And the moment of fame..... http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1159484
14. Watching with interest.
15. They should specify that you need 2 feet in order to join the band.
16. Awesome!!!!! Beats the hell out of the picture I had formed in my head. Love it.
17. Cool!!! Can't wait to see the figuring go 3D.
18. P.S.... Your G string has popped out....
19. That is frikkin' SWEET! GLWTS.
20. I use these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Duracell-Procell-Battery-Alkaline-MN1500/dp/B0036HZ50E
21. This isn't quite so desirable when your cabs are rear ported!!!
22. That's fair enough!
23.
So you don't just "see" colours, but shapes as well? Do different genres have different shapes? Maybe genres are colours and sub-genres are shapes, in which case, what's Deathdoom-core?
Aaah sorry, I'm not the bloke with the colourful music, I'm just the bloke with the spacially represented weekdays and yearly cycle in my head.
24.
Fascinating! Are you like Arthur Henry and just somehow feel that these genres are these colours? Or do you genuinely see the colours as some sort of tint on your vision?
My understanding is that it's not in your vision, it's in your "mind's eye". Certainly, when I think about weekdays or the days and months of the year, I "see" them laid out as two different 3D doughnut shapes in my minds eye, but nothing appears in my actual vision.
25. Apparently, having skim-read that wikipedia article I linked to, I have a form of Spatial sequence Synesthesia when I think about days of the week and days/months of the year. (Going a bit off topic, sorry!)
