1.
With this one, me and the band do the gig, then pop it on the floor and serve supper off it
I know you're pulling my leg, there's no mug ring stains in the varnish!
2. Why is this TKS specific forum under Amps and Cabs instead of Affiliates? Seems a little odd?
3. [sub]Put a tort pickguard on it.[/sub]
4. How can a numpty without a soldering iron like myself get hold of a modded one of these? I've watched FrankenP's vid and it looks like a pretty essential mod!
5. What an awesome amount of info and pictures, I'm not being sarcastic when I say i didn't realise wood could be quite this exciting. I've managed to find a german website with a huge array of different veneers, and just managed to spend 90 minutes looking through a lot of them. I've just sent a PM to Andy with a few of the ones that caught my eye. I'd like to keep the green stain aspect of the project, as that's what I pictured in my head before getting in touch with Andy. I also am more keen on an even textured veneer, rather than something with major figuring. Although the figuring could look very cool, and you can call me vain if you like, but I won't feel comfortable playing AC/DC, Led Zep, Iron Maiden et al. on something that resembles a posh coffee table
6. 'Twas done with witchcraft dear boy.
7. You have the same sort of self control as I do! (Which reminds me, I should be working rather than reading about this!) I think the Thunder Jets came with a black neck, can you see where Mr Bodgejob's dodgy headstock finish ends on the back of the headstock?
8. Wahey! Thanks Andy, it was a pleasure meeting you yesterday, thanks very much for the tea and the warm welcome! It was really nice to sit down and talk things through. By all means, call me Bryan rather than Allighatt0r, it might save you a bit of typing time!
9. Bowie - Let's Dance I think it would genuinely be a crowd pleaser and sound cool! Rest of the band think it sounds gay.
10. Also, flip a coin for which one stays. Regardless of the result of the coin flip, you will know your gut feeling as soon as you flip the coin into the air (at least, that's how I decide between meals when I'm struggling to pick at a restaurant....).
11. Sell the Marshall and use the money to buy a DHA box or a Solid Gold FX Beta to warm up your tone coming from the Markbass
12. I live around that way... It's not for me though. Ewww... sparkles...
13. Are you going to be using double courses (eight strings) for the mandolin strings, or just single (four strings)?
14. Lots of these sorts of things appearing recently, a Takeharu : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Takeharu-Bass-Guitar-MATSUMOKU-Made-in-Japan-Very-Rare-model-/121451703258
15.
Er...
Are there any youtube vids of you in action? Your effects seem like they would sound pretty epic!
16. Just goes to show that they are people too! People are nice.
17. I remember your thread asking what you should spend your money on! That is a very cool choice, well done that man.
18. Crikey, those silver Thunderbirds are pretty.
19. I use a pair of BC212s as well. They sound monster on their sides in a 2x2 config rather than the tall 1x4 config. Something about the speaker orientation just makes it sound full and awesome. Makes sense to get a matching 212 rather than a 210.
20. The question has to be asked.... Why would you want to???
21. I've been using one of these for about 4 years, it's not the most quiet or cheap thing in the world, but it is exactly what you want. Best money I've ever spent on gig gear. I think it was more like £30 when I bought mine. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4250090.htm
22. Wooooowwww!! May I ask how much it cost you?
23.
Do exercises that involve crossing strings, paradiddle your fingers ( i i m i m m i m i i m i m m i m etc ), and whatever else you fancy. Do it regularly and you'll probably reap good rewards.
Holy cow. I've never thought of right hand paradiddles. Cool idea!
24. You could borrow my BH500 if I didn't have a gig on Saturday! I agree with what others have said. Borrow something if possible and give yourself a bit more time to weigh up the options.
25. Have you had the pickguard off at all? What's the cavity like? Do you know if this is solid wood or not?
