I just put this on last week
Mmmmmm.... Reminds me of the chocolate sauce you get with churros at festivals.

I can manage the rhythm no problem at all, it's the notes I struggle with. I think what I need to do it pull my finger out and push through it. Keep reading new music until it comes quicker and easier.

I suppose You Got Another Thing Coming doesn't actually count as root note, because it stays on the same note through chord changes.... Hmmm....

Kings of Leon - Bucket A lot of stuff by AC/DC. I've recently taken to play the whole of Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be without my left hand touching the bass, it's just the open strings. You Got Another Thing Coming by Judas Priest Sure there's plenty more on our set list that I can't think of....

Have put this in my bookmarks to watch later, thanks Jack!

Well, you could try saying 'yes I do have a bass amp but no it's not for all and sundry on the bill to use, I bought it, it's mine to look after and I don't know the other [s]cheds [/s]chaps from adam so they're not [s]chuffin[/s] using it' Hope this helps

I put my cables away by taking one end, pulling the cable through my hand (to make sure it's free of twists and tangles) until I get to the other end. Then with both ends in my left hand, pull the cable through again to find the middle, repeatedly folding the cable in half as many times as neccessary then tying a knot in it. Have never broken a cable using this method (although they do have a couple of faint kinks).

This may be in the wrong section, but I thought I would post here and I can always be moved by a mod perhaps. I want to start a discussion on the subject of lesson cancellations and charges from tutors. Main reason for asking is my girlfriend has begun teaching (not bass, another instrument) and her lessons are starting to pick up in popularity. She's starting to get a decent number of students on the go. However, she doesn't have a solid cancellations policy written out with regards to whether her students pay for a lesson that they arrange and then cancel. We both think that asking the student to pay the full amount if the lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance is reasonable, but beyond that, how would you handle it? She relies heavily on the income from her lessons, so she has considered asking for half the amount if the lesson is cancelled within 5 days of the appointment, but I get the feeling this could put some people's noses out of joint. What do you think?

They've always been gents when I've had a chance to visit. Lovely place.

I need to get an xtender on my Jazz. I miss it when it's not there, I got used to having an xtender on my Washburn. I used to flick it up and down mid song, great fun having that low D at your disposal. Favourite place to use it was in Cochise by Audioslave, the two notes leading into the chorus are D and D#, so I would flick down for those to, then flick back up while reaching for the 2nd fret on the D string to play the E to start the chorus riff. I doubt anyone ever noticed (apart from the drummer because I made a point of pointing it out to him!) but I always thought it was cool.

Finally gone wireless! line 6 g30

Wahey! Welcome to the club. I love mine. So much nicer to not have to worry about a cable trailing behind me!!! Really helps when doing the soundcheck as well. The two guitarists in my band are also on wireless kits so buggering off into the crowd is fairly common. I use these batteries, a pair of these AAs usually lasts me about 3 and a half gigs. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Duracell-Procell-Battery-Alkaline-MN1500/dp/B0036HZ50E I use one of these to attach it to the strap, because the little metal clip broke off of mine. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00074B67A Also, the "Cable tone" function on the receiver is there to counter that extra high you're hearing, you could try playing with that and see if it makes a difference? -

I can (and do) tune from Drop D to E in the space of two bars. We do a Drop D song (White Trash Millionaire by Black Stone Cherry) and on the final beat, the drummer goes immediately into the drum intro of Cochise by Audioslave (which would be a bugger without the open E string), and I join back in with him after 2 bars. Gotta hand it to the TC Polytune, it's a great little pedal. I use it in it's strobe mode for individual strings and it's properly quick and accurate. Can manage tuning the bass down half a step on all strings in the space of 30 seconds as well, which we do for Sweet Child, then back up again afterwards. Poor old truss rod on my bass gets a good workout.
Does anyone know what components KiOgan uses in his wiring sets?
If you drop John a PM, he will give you options for which components you would like (From memory, I think he offers either CTS or Alpha pots, and will also advise on which cap you would like.) Here's a link to the man himself: http://basschat.co.uk/user/7835-kiogon/
