1.
I've worked with quite a few guitarists who have no idea how to use their amp. The volume control seems to be a particularly difficult one to master.
It has to be that loud to drive the cones! ...FFS.
2. Speak to KiOgon. (http://basschat.co.uk/user/7835-kiogon/) He'll sort you out with a new wiring loom with really top quality components very quickly for not a lot of money. He's also a thoroughly nice bloke. 'Nuff said. /End of thread. thangyewverymush.
3. I have the BH500 and 2xBC212 stack as well, it's a fantastic bit of kit, plenty of oomph, and the height of the thing really helps me to hear myself clearly (rather than a 1x15 pointing at your ankles). Sorely tempted to get myself another BC212 for the sheer ridiculousness of a 6 x 12 stack. I have noticed the stack sound hugely different depending on whether you stack the cabs vertically or horizontally. Horizontal cabs make it a lot more bassy.
4. Wahey! Mandolins are great fun. What are you hoping to play on it? Are you going to take it to folk sessions? I use this site for learning folk tunes: http://banjolin.co.uk/tunes/tunelist.php
5. Bought a Digitech Chorus pedal from Jason and the whole process was silky smooth. Thanks very much!
6. Will PM you shortly.
7. Martin bought a few P bass parts from me. No problems at all with the process. A pleasure to deal with.
8. Greg bought my P bass pickup, and was very patient with me throughout a couple of issues. Thoroughly nice bloke, pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!
9. Can't say I've ever heard a hum from my BH500, it's always been spot on!
10. Paul bought a couple of parts off of me, faultless transaction, no problems at all.
11.
I feel you pain brother. Back in the 80s, my band was beginning to get a bit of local recognition and we were offered a gig at my fave venue The Warehouse. We were a tad giddy. On the night though, we had to be there at about 6. Went on at about 12 by which time I was completely pissed. Needless to say, I was awful. I remember thinking that someone was way out of key, yes....was me.....shame Needless to say, we were never asked back, the band fell out with me and as a result I now never drink ever when gigging. Oh ...... the 80s.....
Similar "too drunk to bass" story. I was once got so drunk I forgot how to play Wishing Well, and fell backwards onto my arse and sat leant back against the guitarist's 4x12 in a drunken stupor. I'm not proud of myself, and was quickly kicked out of the band.
12. Hotel California would be pretty awesome.
13.
Second Chance by Shinedown
We do Sound of Madness in my band! My answer to this question used to be Black Dog, but I managed to convince the rest of the band to add this to the Led Zep medley.
14. Blimey that was quick. Everything's gone apart from the pickup. Sorry chaps!
15. I have a few parts to part with. All prices will included postage. I can take pics of anything if required, just let me know. 1 x Rosewood Mighty Mite neck with Fender decals, loaded with Wilkinson tuners. GONE! By no means pristine, underneath the tuners there is some routing to accomodate the rivets that come on some tuners. Currently has half a screw in the heel as the top sheared off. That's what happens when you use cheapy screws that come on a Sue Ryder P i suppose! I don't think removal would pose any problems to someone with a set of mole grips, I just don't happen to own a pair! 1 x Sue Ryder P neck. Maple board. complete with original tuners!!! GONE! 1 x P bass pickup. I bought this from eBay. It came out of an 80s Jazz Bass special (the original model that Duff McAgan used). It's a fantastic P pickup. Slightly large pole pieces than a standard P. Really very nice indeed. GONE! 1 x KiOgon P bass Wiring Loom + flat topped knurled chrome knobs + B/W/B WD Music precision pickguard + screws. Area around the neck pocket has been enlarged a little bit, so this may be no use. GONE! 1 x Dark blue Sue Ryder P bass body, with bridge and neck plate. GONE! 1 x chrome P bass bridge cover with screws. GONE!
16.
I can tell a covers bands proffesionalism within the first 6 seconds of the start. If I hear only 4 clicks and bang off they go and up go the lights , you know it will be a good band. Hear people get on stage and start plucking strings, bumping bass notes, or wait for someone to tune the guitar whilst the rest play random song parts and I know, it will only get worse.
These are very true words. If only it was easy to convince the rest of the band that this info is true!!!
17. Sacrilege! Be gone from this place foul heathen. Joking aside, it's your bass, you can do what you like with it! Westone basses are hardly collectors pieces, there are plenty around. On one condition though, you must start a build diary thread with lots of pictures.
18. We've all done it. Carried on buying things trying to achieve that holy grail sound, when really it's right there already. I like the back to basics approach.
19. That's really rather nice. I recently got a scruffy sunburst Silver Series Jazz in a trade, and it's a proper beauty. It's had the crap kicked out of it, there's bits of paint missing, the neck is mucky, but it's all proper character. It's such a nice player, really sounds spot on. Don't think I could justify having two though!!!
20. There are two cheap through necks on the basses for sale here in basschat: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/226006-through-neck-bass-korean-cort-for-sale-price-dropped-to-l125-posted/page__p__2357057__hl__through%20neck__fromsearch__1#entry2357057 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/224567-vintage-1004dx-bass-fs-price-drop/page__p__2354898__hl__vintage__fromsearch__1#entry2354898
21.
So unfortunately the Silver Series neck didn't quite fit. Fortunately I've grown to love the maple neck. The guard I bought didn't line up either, but I've managed to extend the holes and it's now fixed in pretty well. Very happy with my purchase.
Are you keeping hold of the Silver Series neck or planning to move it on? If moving it on, I would be interested in taking it off your hands!
22. Wow. I love that colour.
23.

Smug?
