Mama's Gun. Absolutely bang on bass player, think classic funk.

Has anybody reported this travesty?

I do love the tone Ross Valory gets from that Magnum on Don't Stop Believing (even though it might be a bit of an embarrassing tune...) Certainly an interesting bass though! Not sure it's quite as amazing as the seller makes out though... Anyone had any experience with these?

My Yamaha has a pan pot to pan between the P and J pup, but the bass gets much quieter (like half the volume or less) when the pan knob is centred. I know it's common for a bit of a volume drop when both pickups are full on with most basses, but this is more than that... I could be wrong, but does this mean one of the pickup polarities are the wrong way round? If so, does anybody know a guitar tech or something in the East Anglian region that could fix it for me? I would do it myself, but I have killed one too many basses with my (lack of) soldering skills... Thanks very much!

Absolutely lovely bloke, took me through all the ins and outs of the Yamaha BB1100s I bought from him when we met up to exchange. Steve was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Highly recommended! Cheers!

I have had this for a little while and have realised I much prefer the sound of my Washburn, so it's not getting used. It's in need a bit of TLC as the electrics are not perfect, and the pickup rings are a bit knackered (although they are still fully functional). It's in the kind of condition you would expect for a workhorse of it's age with plenty of dings and "character". With all this in mind, I'd like to put a price of £200 (now sold pending payment) on this. This will be provided with the original hard shell case, and I can include a nice leather strap too. Lovely thin neck and great sound, just not to my taste any more. I'm going to be away on a training course for a week tonight (Sunday), but I should be able to respond to any queries, and can get better pictures next week. Since the pictures below were taken, I have had the switches changed to the proper T40 shaped ones.
very nice ! what's the curved part that comes out of the top of the bridge ? a finger rest ? a bottle opener ?
IIRC it's the control for the string mute system

My own biased opinion aside... I think the Washburn Idol bass is very underrated, and has a great tone pretty cheaply. It's passive with two pickups, and there's one on ebay at the mo (not mine): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Washburn-Idol-WB66-Bass-4-String-/180732008998?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2a14779a26#ht_500wt_1156

Another happy Roqsolid customer here. I've been very impressed with them, although I wish i had shelled out for the flap that straps the cabs in under the bottom! Ah well, I shall know better next time! I can also vouch for their protection, no matter how much i remind people, it seems that it's inevitable that my gear gets scuffed against a wall or knocked against something, and there is evidence of this on the covers. On one of my cabs the outer black layer has been torn on one of the edges that go round the speaker grill. Definitely would have buggered up the tolex and been very unsightly (especially considering the location) but the felt did a properly good job of protecting the underneath, so i am thoroughly chuffed.

Definitely not a combo socket, it's speakon only I'm afraid.

Build quality is good, all the joins and gaps are consistent, and I've had no problems.
I have been following the discussions, yes, and I have to say that it doesn't really bother me. I am far more concerned with the build quality, tone and sound of what I buy when it comes to bass gear, than how it has been marketed, because I am fully aware that quite alot of companies twist the truth in their marketing ads/campaigns etc. But this is a discussion for the other thread, so let's not derail this one, haha I was mainly wondering whether there is any difference in the things like the spectracomp and tubetone controls between the two heads?
To my knowledge (and this is only from reading things on here, and not based on concrete evidence), the BH500's internals are mostly duplicated from the RH450, but packaged with a different output stage and made in some far flung oriental company. My BH500 stack has served me fantastically well, and i think it's the mutt's (but i am obviously a bit biased!)

I do the bit in Born to be Wild, at the end of the intro going into the first verse. Hard to explain, but if you know the song you should know the bit I mean, and I've done it since day one of playing the song. About 2 years ago, we went to a studio and recorded songs. Bearing in mind I had already been playing in the band about 2 years by that point, the rhythm guitarist had never noticed that I played that bit (or just about anything more complicated than straight eighth/sixteenth notes). He decided he liked it, but only managed to figure out about half of the run I do, and finishes loudly on a note which he bends and wallops the whammy bar on.... So now... every gig we do, he half-arsedly plays the same thing I'm doing over the top of me, loudly with his solo channel, and it ends up sounding like I'm just following him.... grrrr.

Peavey Milestone III - Refinish and Restoration

One of these was my first ever bass. Mine actually ended up burning in a wheelbarrow... It seemed like a good idea at the time! -
Keep an eye out on eBay for precision pickups. I managed to get myself a set of Fender Jazz special P pickups for my Sue Ryder P, and they're the mutts.
