1. Love the ingenuity there with the hanging rig, that's great!
2. Crikey Paul, that's definitely a bit special! Bit scruffy though, isn't it? Don't have the funds, otherwise I would be sorely tempted. GLWTS
3. Saw them live just before Christmas in Colchester. They're still fantastic!
4.
If something costs a fraction of the price of the real deal they must have cut corners somewhere.
Absolutely! Thanks for the info.
5. Hope this hasn't been asked already, I don't fancy reading through the whole thread! What are the key things to be looking for in an AliExpress faker? How do you make sure you don't get an unplayable hunk of poop?
6. Nice. What's the weight like? Would this be a laminate body, or solid wood under there?
7.
Would a Korg X50 be a possibilty?Looks like you could attach a strap to the end handle bits - might be a bit heavy. Or there's always http://www.rolandus....products/fr-3x/
It's certainly been done before...
8. It's alright, I suppose... ;-)
9. I'm surprised noone seems to have mentioned the Ibanez ATK series yet?
10. Have a chat with Tim at Scratch-It, he's a nice bloke, and may be able to get this done for you. http://www.originalscratchplates.com/ When I had a custom plate made for a MIK Squier Jazz, I put the existing plate into a scanner and then sent the scanned image to him, which he converted into a digital template. I imagine at that point he would be able to mirror the pickup orientation.
11. Where are you located? Thanks
12. It's not often i actually laugh out loud, but that is funny. Ha!
13. The D and G tuners look very close together too, would they be awkward to operate that close?
14. I don't need a black P. I would like one of those Teles that keep appearing and selling out immediately though!
15. Tim at Scratch-It might be able to help you out? http://www.originalscratchplates.com/
16. Bought a set of tuners from Simon, he was a top gent, sent me some very detailed dimensions, and posted promptly. Thanks Simon!
17.
I also have a half metric ton of spandex if anyone needs it.
I think I saw discreet looking for spandex in the wanted section
18. I quite fancied one of those teles too....
19.
A good place to start, and a cheap solution if it works, is to add a small shim to the front of the neck pocket. A business card or similar should do it. I'm guessing at the moment the curve is up and the top of the neck, so a shim will flatten that out, so you might need less truss rod compensation then too - which would make the action more playable.
I've given that a go, and it makes it a bit more playable, but action upwords of the 7th fret was terrible. I think I might end up trying one of these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-20-FRET-ELECTRIC-BASS-NECK-SKUNK-STRIPE-J-MODEL-MAPLE-ROSE-FB-/231671994275
20. Christ, that is a bargain... Oldham is a bit of a schlep though!
