So WoT, based on your experience so far, will this amp do a passably good tube-y rock sound, ie, can it replicate reasonably well the sounds of your Walkabout? Reason I ask is I am still mulling getting a gig-bag sized second amp and am thinking about the RH450, the new SWR Headlite, the MB Little Mark Rocker, and - for the hell of it (its no smaller than my Walkabout head) - the Orange Bass Terror. Ta
Might be worth considering the Classic450 too, it's the RH450's less intelligent/less pretty/less popular/less expensive sister! but AFAIK it's the same amp behind the scenes.

Turn your computer off, open your front door, rub your bleary eyes and bask in the glory of the sun. Then play with the traffic.

I would love to play and sing this song. I need to get my head round doing it in a different key first. No way could I squeak my way through it in the original key

Vintage MIJ (formerly J@pCr@p) Spotting
allighatt0r replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Interesting Shaftesbury long-scale/slot head EB copy, if you're in Wiltshire - comes with what appears to be half a PA system, too! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=110495706446 As far as I can make out slot-head EB copies were only made by Fujigen Gakki, so this is the same bass as the Ibanez 2354LB: http://www.ibanez.ru/info/catalog/1971/16.jpg Very interested in this & I've asked the guy if he'd be willing to sell the bass separately & post it, but assume no reply means no. No bids on this so far - so if anyone local to him fancies having a punt on this & re-selling the bass to me, you'd end up with a free/very cheap monolithic 70s bass rig! J.
I might keep an eye on this. It would be worth the road trip if it went for a bargain price... -
A must-read for everyone who gigs in small venues.
allighatt0r replied to MIJ-VI's topic in General Discussion
Very sad story. Will definitely make me think twice when i go into a pub to play in future. It does make you wonder what kind of idiot you have to be to think pyrotechnics indoors is a good idea... The gerb pyrotechnic things fire 15 feet of sparks for 15 seconds, even if there hadn't been dodgy sound insulation that must have been an obvious bad idea from the start to anyone with some common sense... -
Nah, it's a barefaced vintage, it's only speakon... maybe I can try to replace the jack with a speakon. It needs soldering, right?
You might need to unsolder it from the jack end but the speakon end uses tiny screws, like a mains plug.

trace elliot v4 manual and service manual?
allighatt0r replied to Peter Lufrano's topic in Amps and Cabs
Any of these? http://www.britishaudioservice.com/trace_operateinstru.shtml -
My first gigging rig was a peavy 150w tour head into a no name 15 cab, with a peavey milestone III plywood sh*tt*r I currently don't have a gigging rig because i'm not gigging! but I'm playing a Washburn Idol (WB-66).

Needing a New Cab, Settled on Ampeg and 200W
allighatt0r replied to AttitudeCastle's topic in Amps and Cabs
Have a look at the Hartke AK series, especially the 410. They're very Ampeg looking, paper cone cabs with a rock "voicing" in mind and a bit cheaper too. -
My incoming Trace 4x12" only has jack input as far as I know
Mister obbm can probably make you a speakon to jack cable? At least, i think that's possible.

Anyone ever dealt with T Room Studio Manufacturing on eBay
allighatt0r replied to WWRRSS's topic in Amps and Cabs
Well, the 2U case can support a whole 32" monitor! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2U-PC-MONITOR-SPEAKE...73#ht_610wt_967 They weigh about 20kg max, so i don't know if that is really saying much... However, they do say they're made out of MDF, which is stronger than plywood or chipboard, so i think it would be stronger than a bit of ikea rubbish (normally made of chipboard). I like them! they look pretty swish. -
I'v messed up Are you gonna go my way too. The bass bit that acompanys the guitar solo. Now I have a phobia of that song, although last night I nailed it
Nailing that bit is the best feeling in the world.
2 twelves would be fine for guitar, but I think for bass 2 tens would work better in here because of the cabinet volume available. You'd need to cut two "sub-baffles" to reduce the size of the speaker holes and rear mount the drivers. Very easy to do.
Main problem being i have no woodworking tools! (apart from a drill and maybe a hacksaw)
Fitting the speakers and wiring them up is very simple....harder bit is to get the right speakers and tuning the box to suit You will want to add internal dampening, and ports to get it to work well. For somebody looking for a cheap retro look pair of bass cabs with a little bit of work these could do the job. Dave
So what would need to be done to put Celestion green labels (200w) in these? just as a first-speaker-that-comes-to-my-mind idea? I may be out of my depth
I'm running 300 watts with BOTH cabs...
But if the cabs are running in parallel, does that not mean that they are both receiving 300 watts?

Take the MMan in and A/B the two! It's the only way to be sure!
On the link you put up, it says the power hadling is 200w. Would that be a problem if you are trying to 'release 300 watts'? If it is ok to do this, I might follow suit.
The impression i have had from topics on here before is that it's ok to have a head with more wattage than your cabs, as long as you're sensible and make sure any distortion is from the amp/pedals and not the speakers themselves!

Take them off and put them in cola overnight? I've heard it works on bridges and knobs...
