I went to see lostprophets one year (2002, i was young) and one of the guitarists tried to do this, smacked himself right on the back of the head when the guitar didn't swing round properly, threw his guitar down on the stage and stormed off in the huff. It was f***ing amazing. The singer picked up the guitar and pretended to play, by the looks of it he obviously had no idea. It was a good moment.
My lost prophets gig experience was similar. At the last song of the night, the singer dived into the crowd, and someone nicked his shoes (bear in mind it was in Norwich! ) so he got back on stage, said "You don't nick people's shoes! (isn't it)" in a heavy welsh accent then stormed off and played no encores. Pansies.
Headstock, primarily - if it's a 1976, and therefore "lawsuit" era bass, it would have a Fender shape. After that, rosewood boards are very rare on 70s copies. It's possible it's a refin/new plate & pup, but they're all wrong for the era, too. J.
Aaaah OK. Thanks! -

I can't pin it down to one. For me it's got to be: The Rocker and Rosalie -
I'm thinking about painting the headstock, what do you think? Maybe a decal that says "Frankly Awesomecaster"
Or "Frikkin Checkertastic"?
Might be better off just getting another cab than tinkering with it. Ports are a bit dependent on what driver you want to put in it. I don't especially rate Celestions for bass, although my 8x10 is full of them. Make sure that speaker is dead though, if it works as is, leave it, but a new speaker will probably cost more than a second hand cab that is already ported.
Thanks.

They're awesome basses capable of loads of sounds, very well made with a brilliant heritage. The only reason i moved on from mine was because i got sick of actives. I'm a passive guy! The EQ in these is pretty awesome. Especially the bass knob.

Hi Alex, I've got a beastly and stupidly heavy 15" cab that was a freebie given to my dad at work. I think it's a (fairly well made) DIY job, and I'm pretty certain the speaker is blown, it's an Eminence of some kind, but looks like it never had a model number on it: Anyway, it's made of 2cm thick chipboard so it weighs a ton, and the eminence isn't exactly light either! I'm planning to get a 300W green label Celestion for it in the new year (not sure if i want a 4ohm or 8 ohm...), but wanted to know if there is anything else I can do to improve the sound. It's not braced inside, but did have loads of foam inside. Do Barefaced cabs get foam inside? Should i leave it in or take it out? Would there be any use drilling some ports?
This is a pretty good deal i reckon. It would be a shame if someone doesnt grab this up soon.. it isnt that often someone is selling a full sized rig here in one sale.. This will easily fill out a medium sized local venue, and still be LOUD Marshall are reliable amps, so buy with confidence that you have a few more years left in this kicking machine!
Couldn't have put it better myself. Thankyou!
nah its just cos i have a warwick at the moment but i'm really not impressed with it. I just wondered how it would compare with the marshall
If you've got one of the profets (like my brother has), I think this Marshall setup is likely to be louder, and it's got a lot more sounds than you can get out of the Warwick (two channels!).
-
I'm a bit worried, because I've left a (nameless and rather crap) 15" speaker cab in the shed throughout this snowy period (my brother put it in there on thursday night) with nothing more than a small rug on top of it to keep some of the damp off. I'm putting a new speaker in regardless in the new year. So should be alright! (fingers crossed) I'll have to get a decal made up and call it something like The Iceman.
is that a warwick rig i see next to it? how does it compare to that?
Yes it is, it's my brother's and I've never really compared the two, but IMHO they're really not comparable, they're two rather different amps. But, if you need me to A-B the two then I could. I'm not sure what it would prove though. The Warwick is not for sale!
