And here's something I've never seen before, and probably never wish to see again: a Hondo Explorer! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hondo-Explorer-Bass-...93%3A2|294%3A50
"sounds great through an amp" -
For any potential buyers (and the seller if this is what is putting you off), if the neck dive is an issue, there is a simple and effective solution. Move the strap button from the shoulder of the body to the heel of the neck (like an SG g**tar, but actually on the neck). It sorted out my epi instantly.

Click on my band link in my sig and take a look at our set, we ONLY play crowd pleasers, and are building up about half and half modern/70s songs. Sorry if these have been mentioned before but: Feeler - Buck Rodges Arctic Monkeys - Bet That You Look Good On the Dancefloor and When The Sun Goes Down Green Day - Basket Case Blink 182 - All The Small Things Foo Fighters - Times Like These Billy Idol - Rebel Yell The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode All of those get great responses. Oh - and if you want to depress yourself by getting the best reaction in the world for the worst and easiest to play song in the world... play 500 miles by the proclaimers, and go home depressed that you got no reactions all night apart from the one cop-out song...

It was an SWR Black Beauty, and it's been replaced by the amp in my sig. The reason for choosing the amp I replaced it with is because it had just been traded into the guitard's shop and looks like new!
-
Right, so some background info, I've just played two outdoor gigs, and have had my amp die on me at each gig! My guitard owns and runs a music shop, and knows The Amp Guy in Norwich. We sent my amp off after the first death and found that the resistors had gone and there were dry solder joints. Took it to our next gig, where there were power cuts during our outdoor set. and the amp promptly died about halfway through that. This time, the transformer had gone. The band after us said that their keyboard kept resetting.... So, the moral of the story is... Invest in some surge protectors people!!! Note: I've since sold the amp on ebay (after it being repaired) and have picked up a beast of a replacement.

...you shout at the screen at the end of School of Rock when everyone gets a solo except the bassist. ...the guitarist steals your favourite riff (in my case, the run down at the start of born to be wild), and then people ask you why you don't play that too....
I've heard the Tokai's neck isn't set into the body far enough, making it a right old stretch if you are playing on the bottom frets. G.
My Epiphone is a right pain to get to the top fret. Alright Now is a struggle. I wouldn't mind having a chance to compare to a Tokai. I like the baby blue look! There are threads about this topic here and here for some comparison. Seems that the Tokai is better , but not as popular/available!
that lower horn is a whole new level of wrong. The controls are in the wrong place too...
The lower horn is so you can get to the higher frets. Upper fret reach is very hard on a normal thunderbird!
Er, not sure about that. From the manual: Power Ratings (minimum) 350 Watts @ 4 ohms (internal cabinet) 400 Watts @ 2.6 ohms (with 8 ohms extension cabinet) 450 Watts @ 2 ohms (with 4 ohm extension cabinet) A 2 ohm external cab would take the load below 2 ohms -- 4 ohms is the minimum for an external cab.
Ah sorry! thanks for clearing that up!

They do exist! They're just a bit rare.

DAMN! You beat my deal! Did you get a chrome grilled one or a black grill? I grabbed one of these from a local PMT for £500, when they had £700 on the price tag (if you don't ask, you don't get!). They are excellent amps, mine recently died mid-gig, but i think this is due to spending all it's time in a slightly damp van. It's currently at an amp repair guy, paid for by PMT! Your very cheap price is more than likely due to SWR discontinuing them recently. There's an owners manual here if you want to see what you've got yourself in for. It's very clear and powerful for a 15 incher, but sounds even better with a 2x10 on top (preferably 4 ohm, which boosts the amps power from 300 to 350 watts. A 2 ohm cab would boost it to 400.) I like it with the tweeter set to -6db. By the way.... The Aural Enhancer is best set at 2 o'clock.

I'm far more active when slightly sozzled. I plan to get my wireless out tonight though! special occasion! I get so much mroe active when playing off of other guys in the band... we're not just band members, we're really good mates, and we have a good laugh. Favourite activity: playing "who can do the widest rock stance" with the lead guitarist

"Only minor scuffs and scratches on the body and neck" So what's the dark mark over by the controls??? -
This was up lately as a bidding auction, finished last night. I won it for 165! but i hadn't met the reserve. Very gutting. Nobody buy it so he will offer it for less!
Didn't sell at £165. Would've been a total bargain at that price. Pluck
Yeah! I'm gutted! The guy probably had a reserve about 300 or something... Drat! -
I think I paid either £260 or £280 for mine. Mines in really excellent nick, and IIRC the buyer wasn't shipping. Incidently - mine has an Ebony fingerboard, and I was under the impression that all the late '70's BB1000's were the same. The seller states that his fingerboard is Rosewood. He might just be wrong, although his does look a lighter colour than mine in his photo's but it's difficult to tell. Don't know if that's important or not. Pluck
Thanks Pluck. I'll bear it in mind! -
pfffffft. it's scratched.
I vill not buy thees record..... Eet is scretched.
