Yes, love his videos - not so keen on the gloves
Google Focal Dystonia, all will be explained!

We have the intro thread so here's the outro......any track, not confined to album ends! Whatever floats your boat! I was thinking along the lines of Comfortably Numb et al, that soaring lead solo over that classic backing. So for me I end up going to my favourite album (you may have noticed before) Crime of the Century by Supertramp. Title track, and the last track. Simple little piano riff gradually building with strings to a roaring sax solo which then fades gloriously into the distance!!! Total musical joy for me!
The harmonica intro to school by supertramp is a really spine tingly start, proper builds the song up. Love it
My all time favourite album, Crime of the Century! And the outro on the title track does it for me too....but that's another thread!! -

Can I cheat with a side two opener...... Peaches from Rattus Norvegicus, Stranglers. -
Haha. Would be amusing to see him Mark King it up though.
The comparison to me though is how comfortable he is playing and singing at the same time. If you look at the silly love songs clip in the thread you'll see what I mean. Totally at ease with both! Although I don't sing and play the biggest compliment I ever got was when a guy spoke to me after a gig and said I was totally at one with the bass, so comfortable! To me that is how I see people like McCartney and King, totally different genres but the same level of comfort playing and singing! Love it!
In the current trend of posts - how about gigs you went to full of expectation that left you feeling really deflated at the end? Always going to be subjective, of course, but I think for me it was Joe Bonamassa some years back at the Royal Albert Hall. At that point I had most of his back catalogue and a live DVD at Rockpalast and was excited at the prospect of seeing someone who was widely being lauded as the 'new' talent in blues guitar perform live. It was dire. How they managed to get such a poor sound at the RAH is beyond me, but they did - only sorting it out around half way through. And it was all about Joe showing off his licks all night. All speed, no taste, no space, almost a different guitar for each track for Mr Bonamassa to masturbate with. Eric Clapton shuffled on to a 1 minute standing ovation, dusted off one of his bog standard, middle of the road solos and got another 2 minute ovation at the end. Paul Jones shuffled on and played what might well have been a blindingly good harmonica solo but Joe masturbated over it and you couldn't really tell. Did I say it was dire?
You have just written my review for me...thanks! Sooo bloody loud, and two drummers??? WTF!!

Not great! No keys as he had another gig so we carried on as a four piece, we usually cope ok! The guitarist has a guitarist friend and his singing girlfriend over from abroad for a while and all of a sudden the start of the second half at each gig has turned into a showcase for his guitar w***ery!! He even persuaded our guitarist to use his head for the night and it was a bit more than one louder! It was making me feel dizzy on some notes! How do you lose one member of the band for the night and it ends up louder than normal?? Not pleasant, words will be had if this continues, at the end of the day getting a guest up for one or two isn't so bad but it's turned into three extended Gary Moore songs with full on solos and then House of the Bloody Rising Sun for the girlfriend which goes on for about five minutes!!!!! Rant over!!!

And Standing in the Shadows of Motown is in the DVD player again!!!

Good service with knobs on! -
Well I have to say in all honesty we've been getting messages all day checking if the gig was really cancelled! Without blowing my own trumpet I have a really good local following of friends and as we only play locally 5-6 times a year they're always up for it. One lot usually turn up with 10+ people and eat at the pub first, this time they messaged me to say they had 20 turning up! The band as a whole are gutted, now ok it's only one gig but we only do two a year at this particular venue and always pack it out! Oh well, I hope whoever was there enjoyed a 60-3 win against a team of part timers in a dead game!! #I'm not bitter!!!
You are joking, of corse??
It's quite possible you can't see the winking smiley at the end of the message!!!

CRAP!!! Singer had a sore throat and decided that throwing double brandys down her face would sort it out!! She's not a drinker and needless to say it was a bloody car crash!! Nice local social club with quite a few friends there, well paid and kept in liquid by them too! (Which didn't help!!) I honestly wish the floor could have opened up in front of me!!! Oh well, with pubs closing and another cancelling due to the bloody rugby we've got a quiet month now!! Ho hum! Any body need a dep!!
the road ahead is now clear thanks to the Aussies, no more delayed starts for us in blighty!
Yeah, I'm wondering if she'll get back to us and say don't worry, might as well gig as the last England game is of no consequence! Of course I'd take the gig back and then cancel on the day!!! 😉
-
We did a gig last Saturday, just put back the start time until 10 when the England game finished, that way everyone was happy
Unfortunately the pub that cancelled has a firm 11pm finish and big screen in the stage area.
-
Did you rebook? At least it's a decent game and not the bloody football which is on ALL the time!
Nothing yet! Unfortunately it's a finish dead on 11pm pub so I couldn't even negotiate a later start or one long set! It's all in the family with these pubs, the landlady is with the same brewery as the pub that shut, she helped put a manager lad in there and a lot of the "lads" followed him over there. Pub was pulled from under him so they will go back to the other pub.......money talks!!! Sod the fact that the bloody rugby has been advertised and scheduled for ages......as usual it's the bloody band that loses out!!!
-
So we've two local gigs booked this month and both are now cancelled!!! First due to the pub suddenly being sold and closed down and the second because all the lads that would watch the poxy rugby in the first have badgered the landlady to cancel us next Saturday because of the Uruguay match!! Got plenty of mates looking forward to seeing us as we don't get around my area much, this was a good month for me, tonight local and two more before end of month, now just tonight!!! Grrr!!! Rant over!!
-
I haven't, but I'll be doing that tonight! Nice one for the headsup! Thanks Nic, I'll give him a buzz if it isn't the internal fuse. Cheers everyone.
Unplugged.....otherwise you'll be getting the buzz!! 😀
-
When you haven't got a lot of room on stage, the fact that you've got no lead to tread on is an even greater benefit than on a big stage.
This!!!
