Headlined the Ash Music Festival nr Aldershot yesterday, 6-7 slot. Had a ball, turned up with a picnic and a few beers early and watched a few of the other bands who were all good. Usual assortment of dancers and nutters having fun with us. A great day!! Our very own Seashell turned up with a friend, good to see her!! http://youtu.be/VoDXb4yJJ6I

Looking to sell this nice converted fretless. Bought this a couple of years ago for a project that I left so it's been gathering dust at home for a while now. Lovely sound as you'd expect from a BTB, very smooth neck, nice low action which I prefer on a fretless. Unfortunately after I'd adjusted the truss rods to set the neck how I like I lost the cover...doh! I'll have a search for it. Very good condition, has a few light marks but nothing much. Looking for collection or delivery in Surrey, I'm in Addlestone. Here's the original advert from when I bought it. Much better explanations about the bass. Saturday night, played at the best wedding ever......the wedding of our guitarist and singer! So not only did they have their favourite band playing the main set we went up and did a middle section and finished the night off with The Chain and What's Up!! Fantastic, if a little hot to say the least, also had lots of guest friends up so it was like a who's who of all our muso friends! Here's me grooving and then growing out of our singers head!!

May 9th we played a gig at the Cricketers in Rowtown, Addlestone. This was the day after my mum sadly passed away. She sang jazz and in my mind the show had to go on. Now I'm a bedroom guitarist really but the guys in the band were more than happy to let me have a go and do an interpretation of the St.Louis Blues, one of the songs that mum sang. It's taken a while to be comfortable to share it but here it is, I missed a few words and I'm no Bonamassa but it was fun nevertheless!! http://youtu.be/K4sAokQKPPU

Mic the cab? Surely the sound you like onstage is a mix of the amp and cab working together so the DI sound will only be the amp and might not be as you like it?
I anticipate that people will reply saying that 'flat' is not just EQ at 12oclock, and there are many other variables when it comes to tone. But I'm guessing that you're referring to 'flat' as in zero cut/boost on your amp's EQ section? I'm a recent convert to this, and bypass my preamp's EQ and have never been happier with my tone.
Knobs at 12 o'clock, apart from the treble at 2. Amazed at the difference!

Over the last few weeks even months I've not been particularly happy with my sound, I've been tending to boost the mids to cut through but it's sounded harsh. Last weekend we did a wedding in a marquee and I had to crank it a bit and when I walked out with my radio link it was horrible. I run a TC BH500 into a TC 210 and a Barefaced Compact. With a Status S2 five string this should sound awesome. So last night I went back to basics, set the input to just before red, a little bit of Spectracomp, and everything else flat. Used the tweetertone and about 2 o'clock on the treble. Then just cranked it and used the volume to carry the sound! What an amazing difference. Creamy bottom end, sizzling tops when I boosted the treble on the bass (which was set flat too) and fantastic punch in the middle of the guts too. So yes I take in what people say about boosting mids on here to cut through but last night (for me anyway) proved otherwise!
Fortunately the drummers I work with are pretty swift, but one has the undesirable knack of unloading his car full of kit and dumping it all over the entire stage. He's set up quick, we're not!
Yup, same for us plus the keys player doing the same except they're not particularly quick, fecking nightmare!
Last night was the second of two excellent weddings we have done on consecutive Saturdays. At both weddings we knew the bride and groom more so last night. So cue great audience participation, fed and watered and of course a reasonable amount of dollar too! Personally I usually hate weddings and just treat them as a "get the job done and walk away with a few quid" but for these two it was balls out, head down and have a cracking time! Most of last nights crowd are from a local pub that we do regularly so it ended up as a request night, err yeah and we jammed our way through Bat Out of Hell too!!! It's looking like that will be rehearsed properly and thrown in at some time, our girly singer does it in her solo set and absolutely nails it!! Nice chilled out Sunday now!!! http://youtu.be/6WWrbo6tHyg
Just to add, why do my pix always come out sideways??
Yep. I saw a live at the BBC vid of Bon Jovi and was shocked at how his voice had deteriorated.
I think all through the years Ritchie Sambora has covered a lot of the high stuff, the chorus in Living on a Prayer (the original version before they stripped it down to a very weak acoustic version) being an example!! I did wonder if they did the acoustic type version because of the vocal degradation!

anybody else find jam sessions boring?
barneyg42 replied to PaulWarning's topic in General Discussion
When I was getting back into playing a few years ago I started to go to a local jam to get my eye back in. Although not advertised as a blues jam it tended to be Red House etc all night. One night a drummer came up to me and asked if I do any rock stuff, too right I said! So he got me up with his buddies and we bashed our way through Crossroads and Wishing Well! As we walked off stage to the applause of the adoring crowd and patting ourselves on the back for a job well done one of the organisers muttered under his breath "hmm, that was a bit loud" and got another group up to do a twenty minute slow blues jam, well maybe fifteen!! I didn't bother after that! -
We are a classic rock covers band of over 5 years standing. Our original drummer is flying the nest for good this time and we need a permanent replacement. We have a busy year with gigs most weekends so a reliable person is required. I'll be blunt, the last few deps we've had when he's been away have been a nightmare, trying to take over everything or moaning about the volume, it's not that loud but it is rock!!! Our website is www.asylumaffair.com and there are some clips on YouTube under the name Asylum Affair. The website gives you an idea of the workload. Just looking for a competent level headed drummist looking for a bit of fun with a few quid thrown in!!
I was in the barbershop the other day and I think they had tuned into Smooth Radio, 'Every Kinda People' came on and in no time I was nodding and bopping away.
That's the last thing I would do in a barbers, you could end up with a Mohican!!!!

Nightingale, Sutton!! Tiny little bay window playing area, five piece with my large bod and a full keyboard rig next to me made for an interesting night akin to a game of twister. Bannisters in front too so guitard had to set up in front on floor!! Nevertheless an absolutely cracking night! Played a blinder and had them rocking all night! In the end I abandoned the "stage" for the last three songs and went behind the bar where there was much more room (and nice barmaids ;-) too). Aching like hell this morning but got to do it all again tonight at the Smugglers Return in Worthing! Can't wait!!

Tythe Barn, Great Fosters in Egham for a Sunday evening wedding! Great room but a dull gig, first set a few dancers then halfway through the hog roast is announced so the room empties, second half starts at ten and a few in but to be honest I reckon most people were either too p**ssed or had to be up for work Monday that it died a death. DJ got a few up after us for the okey cokey and New York, New York!! Home by twelve and up at 5.45 for work so a bit knackered to say the least!! I hate gigging on a Sunday but it paid well so all good there, back to the pubs next weekend, less dollar but much more fun!!
If the problem is the Transformer, why doesn't it turn itself into something else, like something like really cool, you know like, like maybe a speedboat or a spaceship with like special laser weapons and stuff?
Or even a funky little mixer that works when more 5 instruments are plugged into it!!!
