South East Bass Bash No.7, Surrey, Saturday 21st September 2013

Wow, what a fantastic day!! Just to add to the thanks to the Hamsters, Nik et al for the wonderful organisation as usual! What an amazing turnout and what a fantastic total to go to charity. Like Bluejay (although nowhere near as many and as good quality) I have a load of photos to upload, just a matter of finding the time! Loved the little Ampeg mini stack in the corner and also Fat Riches pair of Statii, especially the blue fretless!! Dave and Paul's Q and A was most enlightening and what a smashing down to earth pair of blokes they are. I'm currently still in bed recovering from a late night wedding gig last night too, it's been a great weekend so far what with Level 42 on Friday as well. As I was about to pack up a slap fight developed between Leetav, Henbarn and Tom, it was like being in the trenches.....very amusing though!! Good to see some old faces, Nige, Happy Jack, Billy Apple to mention just a few and good to meet some new. Big big thanks to Alex for getting me an FB (fat bastard) size Barefaced t-shirt made up......Basschat take the hint!!!! -
I've just bought an MXR M87 Bass Compressor, if you fancy teaching me how to rub the thighs on that one
How many knobs has it got? 😉 -
I was going to pop down but now I can't. It looks like they've got a bigger horn section for this weekend too,
Gonna need more horns, Rod bloody Stewart is on in the main arena.....that's scuppered a nice easy journey home and a couple of bevys in the local before closing!! 😡
Is anyone bringing a Barefaced Midget that I can try? Does anyone need any specific cables made and brought along?
Hey Dave, would it be too late to order a 2ft patch lead, right angle both ends for Saturday? -
Usually if you miss it, just wait for a bit and you'll find another one comes just after the last beat of the current bar.
Yeah but like buses sometimes two come at the same time!!

Is that we will end up with "Celebrity Three Most Amazing Shits" To be "Trumped" only by "Celebrity Three Most Amazing Shits, On Ice" With "Amazing Shits uncut" and " Shits to hot for TV"
Followed by I'm a Celebrity sh*t, get me out of here!
That's the PLUS side??
Oh yes 😉😉
January apparently
We last played there in May and were re-booked virtually straight away for Fridays gig. Strange that your mate was booked in January with no problem on return. Oh well it just goes to show its worth checking gigs in the days leading up to them.
-
A friend of mine is playing there right now. He's had no problems at all.
Ah ok, be interested to know how long ago he was booked?
-
Just asked our singer for a number for OBBM (Dave) who has a gig there and she couldn't find anything and had to contact them through Facebook to find out what was going on, all a bit strange!
-
Not going to slag them off as I don't know the circumstances but we were booked in for last night months ago. Luckily our singer gets a local band newsletter though which came up with a different band being on. After chasing around trying to find out what was going on ( wrong phone numbers on web etc) turns out they knew nothing about us having changed hands earlier in the month. So beware if you're booked in there, it's possible there may be a cock up. Luckily she found out before the rest of the band who are not as local suffered the Bank Holiday traffic to head down. In the plus side had a nice quiet night in with girlfriend 😉
With Big Norm and Mike Soundy?
As you can see we were big lads!!
With Big Norm and Mike Soundy?
Me and Big Norm started it early nineties with a singer, Dave Wells, drummers Dave then Phil. Then we got a welsh guy on vocals called Clive, who I believe is still with Norm now, along with Mark Ford on drums. I left for while having fallen out with Norm then came back for bit until Norm went off to do something else. As far as I know it's still going as Goliath, the story is that Norm and Clive decided to get the original band together, I'm still waiting for the phone call 😉.
-
I used to play in a band called Goliath in Exeter, all big lads, very recgonisable and always spotted walking round the town as my then g/f always noticed. We were waiting outside the back of Bristol Colston Hall for Level42 to come out post gig and a guy standing up on a raised bit holding on to a railing suddenly starts shouting "Goliath Goliath" at the top of his voice and pointing at me in amongst this big crowd of L42 fans!! Needless to say the only comment the g/f could make was "can't f**king take you anywhere!!" 😉

Michael Bublé!!

Seriously good bass........seriously bad bass face 😉
