Chris just had a pedal from me, money sent quickly, good comms, pleasure to deal with ya mate!

Quite varied in Surrey too, last weekend I had three gigs, my main classic rock band on Friday, pub gig booked a bit last minute and we got £300 (5 piece), Saturday I depped in for a friends band (disco dance covers, 5 piece) for a 50th party in a back garden marquee and we got £400+ all the food and beer we could drink. Sunday back to the classic rock and a wedding which we got £550 + a bar tab and all the food again. The bride and groom were so impressed they gave us an extra £50 on top, we supplied the disco and lights too. It was hard work mind you, 100yrd walk to the door and then up two flights of stairs to the function room! Next Friday it's a £250 pub gig and Saturday we play a small pub that only pays £180, we call the landlord Mr Tight, he even charges the band for soda water.....but we started out playing here and have a nice little following and have generated other gigs from it. Also we use it as a showcase for new songs, paid rehearsal as they say. Did a Friday night hat band gig a while back, landlord pays you £50 and you put the hat round to generate some extra, managed to get another £100 on top and the landlord immediately booked us for a normal Saturday night on £250, so sometimes it's worth going for a loss leader to generate the better gigs, although you must get in as many as possible, we pulled in a fair few of our own crowd for that one so the landlord could see we were worth it.

I think for now I'll give the Acme a run at the next gig, it's just got so damn heavy with the replacement speakers. As I'm running out of a stereo power amp I can mix it up a bit sound wise. Thanks for all the advice, as usual BC comes to the rescue, now if you can all start me a Midget T fundraiser I'll be sorted!

[/quote] Ah don't get me wrong it's not all slap and pop in my band, far from it, it's just when I do need some more top it's just not zingy enough for me. The Compact is great in all other ways.

Its nearly all pub gigs so volume isn't usually a problem and for bigger gigs we have pa support. I'm just trying to add a bit of zing, the Compact is a fantastic cab but if I'm slapping a bit I just missed that satisfying pop that tens and tweeters give, so it's a sound thing more than a volume thing. I heard I band, twin guitar setup, a while back and the bassist was just running a bc210 and it sounded excellent and loud. Hmm, I feel a trip to guitarguitar coming on......gas is a bastid!

I currently have a Barefaced Compact but can't afford one of Alex's magical Midgets so I'm thinking of mating it with a Tc Electronics BC210, wondering if this is a reasonable match and if the BC is as good a lift as the Compact. It's a bit heavier I know but are the handles etc good. I'm running an Mxr di80 into a Crown power amp so plenty of watts. I have an Acme lowB but find its pretty heavy as the speakers have been replaced with something more substantial so will probably out this eventually. Thanks in advance
