Thinking about it, I'm going to be up in London on Friday too (coming home for a week) - a visit to The Gallery might have to be in order.
Sounds like a Bass Bash in the making!!

Nicko McSmith travelled down to sunny Woking tonight with a fine Status to trade. Great bass, great guy, an old mate who I haven't seen enough of for ages. Unfortunately he had arranged a dogging session at the local hot spot and had to run but we must catch up again soon. Buy/trade with confidence!! You can't go wrong! Klingon Kol

A flying visit from the Doctor has resulted in him taking away the Jaydee and leaving me a Status Series 1 five string, 3 sheeps, 1 camel,a Llama and a Brazilian ladyboy to follow! Good to see ya Nick, lets make it a bit longer next time. Thanks for all the interest, kind words and bumpage Cheers Happy Klingon Kol
As new, probably about a month old and hardly used. I don't get on with them and need something wider and less 'giving', the comfort strap distorts under the weight of my bass and pulls into my shoulder. £17.50 including postage.
How long is it.........the strap that is! Would be interested if it's the longer one! Colin -

Having a bit of turmoil and not sure what's best. I got this fine bass from our very own Rich last year as an introduction back to bass after a while off. It's a great bass but at the moment just not what I need. The band I'm in have got together about 25-30 songs and it's used once! Even then I'm forcing it in so it's a bit redundant. So I also got (from Crez5150) a nice SX Jazz5. Great bass again and needless to say the main one at the mo. So I'm thinking of outing the JD to finance or trade for another 5 string. The SX is good but now I'm back in the saddle I'm gassing for something of what I used to have. The Jaydee was bought new by Rich in 1987 so I'm the 2nd owner. It's in great condition, a few very small marks but hey it's over twenty years old. Rich used roundwounds and the same for me so a few little marks on the board but no wear. It's got an EMG pickup and 2 band stack eq with a Hollis pre-amp and an active/passive switch. I've got the original stripey p/u that Rich passed on to me which doesn't work but may be fixable if needs be. So what am I looking for tradewise....well it MUST be active/fretted and 5 string. In the past I've been a Musicman Stingray/Warwick Fortress/Streamer/Status player. Not sure the JD is worth enough for one of these but hey, someone might like a change. I also like the G&L 2500 and after hearing Eric Czar with Joe Bonamassa the Ibanez ATK305 is a consideration. So cash wise I would just like my money back which is I think a very reasonable £400. Would definitely prefer collection/delivery from/to Surrey or nearby-ish! Would travel a bit for the right trade. Pics below, not great quality. Whenever a thread like this comes up I straight away go for the keyboard to extol the virtues of Mr Lynott only to find that people have got there before me. (note to self...learn to type quicker). But seriously the band I've just joined are thinking of doing Dancing in the Moonlight so with a nice little chorus pedal off I go. By no means a demanding bass line but it just didn't sound right. Grabbed a pick off me acoustic guitar and bang there we are, on the money! So to answer the OP's question probably 99% fingers and 1 song with a pick. Could Knopfler be criticized for not using a pick? I don't think so. So why are there people out there who think less of a bass player who does? We just have to use the tools that we have........picks,fingers,thumbs,effects,different amps, speakers to get the sound that WE want. Sometimes a straight P-bass through a straight valve amp with a pick is the way, sometimes not. Who cares! Just love the music however it's played. Hangover rant Colin hic!

It's been a crap week work wise and personally for me at the moment but that's another story so when rehearsal came up last night I was a bit low but still looking forward to it. Over Xmas I got together (musically that is) with a young lady who has been gigging solo using the DAT tape type thing but not played in a band. She's got a cracking voice, well she's Welsh so that probably explains it. She put the feelers out for a guitarist and drummer and a few weeks ago we all got together. The drummer suggested a keyboard friend and last night he came along for the first time. All I can say is WOW how good was that. The music suddenly took on a new life and was fantastic. We are doing a sort of rock/pop type set but apart from 3-4 songs it's all new stuff for me so a bit of a challenge. Songs range from early Chicago, Heart, Prince,Joplin, Sam Brown,Stereophonics,Eurythmics,Gary Moore,Tom Petty,Fleetwood Mac and others but not all the tracks from these artists are the most well known, ie most people would do Walking by Gary Moore but we are doing Separate Ways. At the end of the night we were all buzzing and as said the keyboards really kicked it up the arse. It's looking like our first gig booked is at the beginning of May for a charity do so plenty of rehearsal time although I hope we can pick up more before then. From a personal point of view instrument wise I really got to give my SX Jazz 5 a good workout and it's a cracking bass for the money (cheers Crez5150). When I told the geetarist the price he nearly dropped his PRS! I also managed to pick up an old AXL chorus pedal cheap last week and that had a nice sound especially with my Jaydee fretless on Stereophonics Handbags and Gladrags. So all in all after a crappy week or so it's ended on a high. Cheers Colin
You can take it out of the circuit but you need to make sure you do it at the right place, which would normally be before the crossover to the tweeter. However, as long as there are no crossover components in parallel with the tweeter it would be safe to simply unplug one of the connections on your tweeter.
Sorted. Crossover on side of tweeter. Tweeter removed. No problem. To be honest I don't see what point they are in BASS cabs, as Bass_Ferret said in another thread "Are we paying extra for our cabs for a solution to a problem that does not really exist?"

Last night was the first time I had cranked up my gear as listed below and found the horn in the 2x10 was cracking up sound wise. I imagine its a dry joint or something and will investigate later when I get home. Would I be able to cut it out completely as its not something I'm bothered about sound wise?

Band I was in supported NBZ in Worcester Park a few years ago and Gerry was running late so they asked me to sound check with them. Got given his Stingray and as I played a few notes to get the feel of it I mistakenly slapped it a few times!! You would have thought I'd just farted in front of the Queen judging by the looks I got. Then came the shout "Oi nah!! We don't play none of that sh*t in here" Needless to say I felt a bit small and stayed well in the sidelines for most of the night apart from when we did our slot when I played a blinder, oh and no slap even though I was playing a Status2000!
