1. Stings bass looks unbelievably comfy.
2.
My recent recording rig at Middle Farm Studios: I mostly used the '83 Squier JV Jazz into a '77 Ampeg VT-40 -> '60s Fender 2x15, an early Ampeg SVT Classic -> an old Ampeg 8x10, and a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier -> Mesa 4x12. The cabs were isolated in 2 separate rooms because everything was running hot and loud. The Peavey 2x15 pictured was used for a monitor, room sound and general vibe!
Nice, lovin' the white jazz lamp stand
3. Well done Barefaced. An inspiration to a lot of bass players
4.
Loads of people I guess - At camden rocks tomorrow
A lot of interesting bands playing Camden Rocks. It looks like it will be a great event.
5. 1St band I watched live. Birmingham NEC some time in the early eighties. They were great.
6.
Get a larger car. Bass players and tiny rides don't mix. Just be thankful you don't play drums.
An old drummer friend of mine could get his full kit in a Mini. Not the fat blob new one but an old Cooper. It's as if the car was designed around a bass drum, amazing thing.
7. Very nice. I still fancy one of these little heads. Ashdown have just uploaded a new retroglide video on YouTube, it's sounds great.
8. Def Leppard version?
9. Sold a bass to Gary this week. Excellent communication and paid on the date given. A very easy and pleasant person to deal. Many thanks Bren
10. Definitely Ashdown
11. Cool. I enjoyed that. Cheers
12. It may required all of that or part, I'm not 100% sure. It'll require some paint on the neck too.
13. Excellent news. Can you pm me his contact details please? The contact details and Web site listed for Dave must be out of date. Cheers Bren
14. As the title says, I need the frets sorting or replacing on my Spector. It looks like they have previously been replaced but it's a poor job, I can't imagine the bass leaving the factory in this state. As Jim Fleeting is now Manchester way and Dave Wilson seems to be m.i.a Who's recommended oop north? Cheers
15. Hi, is Dave Wilson still in Haltwhsitle? The contact details and web site listed in this thread are out dated.
16. The Blockheads played The Studio in Hartlepool last night. Wow, Norman was unreal. I was stood with a stupid grin on my face all the way through the gig, the people around me must have thought I was quite special. He was using a gold jazz bass, not sure of the make, through an Ashdown BTA head,a 2x10 and possibly 2x15. What a fantastic sound, a touch aggressive but clear and punchy... The full band sounded excellent, The Studio is still a great little venue. The sound guy did a brilliant job, and I'm pretty sure no one went home with ringing ears. I'm still in shock, highly recommended. I got to meet him after the gig too. What a night.
17. As interesting as ever. Living Colour are on tour in the UK at the end of this year. I've just bought tickets for Newcastle so I'll be checking out the set up first hand if I can get close enough.
18.
Pre amp removed. Liking the new setup individual tones for the pickups plus the three way toggle and blend has given some extra scope for tone changes. I'm really not an active tone guy.
Glad you got it sorted, it has to be one of the best playing basses I've had my mits on. Did the output improve at all when you pulled the pre amp out?
19. What a bargain that was. Do the old school test... Don't read anything on the Internet, plug in and spend some time with it a gig volume and if it sounds good to you keep it. I have no idea what class T is, life is simpler that way. Nice purchase.
20.
Mean huh? Wasn't quite prepared for how loud this thing would be. Everything in the room shakes. Pretty sure it set off a car alarm - across the road!
That looks great. Not bulky at all and the perfect width for a valve Head.
21.
Solved http://basschat.co.uk/topic/283509-barefaced-4x10-announced/
My wallet is already investigating...
22. Thanks for the replies, it's appreciated.
23.
Try to track down a used Barefaced Vintage? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/191022-used-a-barefaced-vintage-last-night/
That's interesting. I've not seen one of those before. Is it 2 x 12? How tall is it? Cheers
24.
Barefaced retro two 10 works well.
Very nice. If that was all in one cab it would ideal.
